Xfinity Pay As You Go Internet – Comcast’s prepaid internet service, after years of testing, is now available to all Xfinity subscribers. The packages allow consumers to pay for Internet services on a pay-as-you-go basis, with top-ups ranging from seven to 30 days.
Comcast has partnered with Boost Mobile to sell an $80 prepaid Internet starter kit, which includes a DOCSIS 3.0 wireless gateway and 30 days of service. Download speeds reach 10 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps for uploads, and top-ups start at $15 for a week. These prepaid plans work anywhere within Xfinity’s coverage area, and while there’s no credit check, you must be 18 years or older to sign up. The partnership also gives Boost Mobile customers a $5 top-up discount.
Xfinity Pay As You Go Internet
The announcement comes after Verizon launched its own Fios prepaid internet service earlier this month, offering speeds of up to 25 Mbps for $60 per month. However, this service is bundled with a TV and telephone, which some subscribers may not need. Other prepaid Internet services currently available include mobile hotspots like Karma Go, which run on Sprint’s LTE network at download speeds ranging from 6 to 25 Mbps, depending on your location, although data is only available to one user at a time (other users noted ) on the same hotspot network require their own prepaid account.) To be eligible for Xfinity Prepaid Internet, you must be 18 years of age and have an Xfinity address, but no active Xfinity service.
Since this is the only qualification, it is reasonable to assume that this service is available to former Xfinity customers who have outstanding balances in their accounts. Xfinity does not explicitly say whether or not past customers are eligible for the prepaid service.
Along with previous customers who have outstanding Xfinity balances, prepaid services may also be attractive to those with short or poor credit history as there is no credit check or deposit required. Temporary residents, such as students or those on monthly renters, may also want to consider Xfinity Prepaid Internet as there are no contracts.

Xfinity Prepaid Internet Starter Kit costs $45 for the first 30 days of Internet service and includes a gateway kit with purchase.
To continue service, customers can add or “recharge” days in seven- or 30-day increments. The seven day refill is $15 while the 30 day refill is $45. The 30 day refill is definitely a better deal as it comes with nine extra days than if you spend the same amount on three seven day refills.
Because customers purchase their equipment directly, there are no ongoing equipment costs. Government taxes and fees may still apply, but for the most part, you can expect to pay around $15 or $45 to continue your service, depending on which refill you choose.

This is where Xfinity Prepaid Internet loses a bit of its appeal. This service only offers download speeds of up to 50 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10 Mbps. The speed is slower than most standard Xfinity plans.
Download speeds of 50 Mbps are best for browsing the web and social media, sending emails, and streaming shows or movies in standard definition. Upload speed of 10 Mbps is good enough for uploading images to social media and supports video conferencing or online learning for 1-2 devices.
Keep in mind that Wi-Fi speeds are often much slower than cable connections, so the download speed of Xfinity Prepaid Wi-Fi Internet that you get will likely drop below 25 Mbps. For this reason, we would not recommend Xfinity Prepaid Internet for streaming services or online gaming, especially if you plan to connect multiple devices via Wi-Fi.
Xfinity Prepaid! New To Most Boost Mobile Locations! $45 No Contract
Approximately $45/mo. For 50 Mbps, the cost per Mbps (the approximate speed you get for that price) with Xfinity Prepaid Internet is about $0.90.
In comparison, one of Xfinity’s lowest-priced plans, Xfinity Connect Internet, comes with 75 Mbps for around $30/mo. This is a per Mbps fee of $0.40, which is much cheaper than prepaid services.
When you get to a higher tier plan with Xfinity or another provider, the cost per Mbps will likely drop even more. Some plans cost less than a penny per Mbps, which is a much better value than what you get with Xfinity Prepaid Internet.
