Update Three Mobile Sims Review – When I arrive in a new country, the SIM card is my second priority, after the local currency. A local SIM card with data gave me the confidence and assurance that I could survive in a new country even if I didn’t speak the local language.

When my family and friends come to visit me in Singapore, they always ask me to buy a SIM card for them, so I have to analyze which SIM card is best for them. I thought why not post my analysis on this blog, maybe it will help someone.

To be honest, choosing the best SIM card in Singapore is both easy and difficult! Simple as there are only 3 major mobile operators in Singapore namely Singtel, M1 and StarHub.

For the US$30 and US$50 Tourist SIM cards, you can top up the main account to extend the validity of the card, but the hi!Tourist value (100GB data, 3000 local minutes, 5000 text messages, overseas data roaming) will not be extended. . In other words, the hi!Tourist SIM becomes a regular prepaid hi! SIM card that can be topped up after it expires. I hope this makes sense.

Hello everyone! The Tourist SIM allows unlimited use of Facebook, Whatsapp, LINE and WeChat, but if you read the fine print, you’ll find that usage is limited to 1GB per day. I’d say ignore the gimmick because why should you care about free 1GB of social media data when you have 100GB of free local data.

StarHub’s normal prepaid SIM card is called StarHub Prepaid, while StarHub’s travel SIM card is called StarHub Travel Prepaid. Here is a comparison of StarHub prepaid SIM cards.

1. Prepay $15, free 2GB data, including 1.2GB for the first month; then 200MB per month for the next 5 months. The free WeChat, Whatsapp Messenger and LINE apps are valid for 180 days from the date of activation.

5. A StarHub prepaid SIM card worth US$50 can enjoy local and overseas 5GB free data roaming in the countries listed in the happy roaming destination.

7. Within 3 days after the SIM card is activated, you will receive 120GB local data, $100 IDD 018 points, 5000 minutes of local calls and 200 local text messages. Promotion valid until further notice.

8. 80GB data includes 4GB local/roaming data and 76GB local data. 20GB is allocated immediately after successful purchase. Additional 60GB of local data, 5,000 minutes of local calls, 200 local text messages and $100 IDD credit will be credited on the same day.

11. All prepaid cards can be recharged online or offline through the StarHub prepaid app. See full top-up options.

Based on my experience so far, I think StarHub is the most competitive carrier, and their promotions tend to offer better value compared to other carriers. However, I feel like they have too many promotions, add-ons, bonuses and various top-up prizes. Some actions last for a long time, and some actions disappear after a while.

It can be difficult to make the right decision when you’re trying to choose the best StarHub card or the best StarHub plan at any given time when the variables are constantly changing. For the sake of simplicity, I recommend ignoring all bonuses when deciding which card/plan is best.

The ordinary M1 prepaid SIM card is called M1 prepaid SIM card, while its tourist SIM card is simply called M1 tourist SIM card. Below is a comparison of all M1 prepaid cards.

## For use in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia and Taiwan, you can use the existing data in the local data plan for free (but data roaming must be activated first). For other countries, you must purchase a roaming plan.

Now that I’ve covered all the prepaid SIM cards from each operator, it’s time to compare these SIM cards between different operators based on a few scenarios.

Different people have different dwell times, data consumption and other preferences. For simplicity, I’m assuming short-term travelers are tourists who use a lot of internet (1 GB to 3 GB) per day for navigation, mobile research, and social media.

The 4 Best Budget Android Phones Of 2023

For short term travellers, I would compare a SIM card with at least 80GB, which is more than enough for a 1 month stay in Singapore.

If you don’t think you fall into this category because you can survive without internet while exploring Singapore, then you can skip this section and move on to the next one, where I discuss general advances for long-term travelers Free SIM card.

*M1 has 2 very similar SIM cards for $12 and $14. Since at the time of writing, the $14 M1 SIM is selling for S$9.70 and you can pick it up at the airport, I wouldn’t even consider the $12 M1 SIM (since there’s no promotion and you can’t pick it up) at Airport).

Case 1: If you are visiting Singapore for less than 10 days, you can buy any tourist SIM worth $12 from Singtel/StarHub/M1 Tourist SIM. However, I personally prefer the $12 StarHub prepaid SIM card (100GB, 10 days) as you can pick it up anytime from Changi Airport Terminal 1/2/3/4.

For Singtel, you can only pick up at Terminal 3 (24 hours); for M1, you can only pick up at Changi Airport T1/2/3 at certain hours.

Case 2: If you visit Singapore for 11 to 14 days, you can get a Singtel $12 hi! Tourist SIM or M1 $14 Prepaid Tourist SIM. Again, pay attention to where and when you collect.

While there are tourist SIMs that offer 100GB and are valid for 28 and 30 days, I no longer recommend these as you can buy cheaper SIMs with more data, as shown in the table above.

Xiaomi Redmi A2 Review

The $15 Singtel card offers 110GB of total data, the $15 StarHub card offers 128GB, and the $14 M1 card offers 100GB. Based on the numbers presented alone, it’s clear that StarHub’s $15 28-day prepaid SIM card is the winner. Meanwhile, if you want to stay in Singapore for 30 days, you should buy an M1 prepaid tourist SIM card worth US$14.

If you plan to travel to Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia and Taiwan after Singapore, you should consider the M1 $14 Prepaid Tourist SIM, as the 100GB can be used in Singapore as well as these 5 roaming countries.

For those planning to visit other countries after Singapore, you may want to consider purchasing a Singapore SIM card that offers data roaming.
