We often think of “cheap” TVs as less than $1,000 for a 65-inch screen. Our specification has increased slightly due to the lack of parts and financial problems in the last few years; most televisions priced under $1,000 saw a price drop of a few hundred dollars during that time. Stepping down to a 55-inch screen keeps prices below the high end of these high-end models, but if you don’t mind compromising on picture quality, you can still find a 65-inch TV that’s worth it. . This is a great TV if you want great pictures and a good set of features at a low price. It doesn’t do anything fancy outside of Google TV and it doesn’t have fancy features, but it’s good value.
The sweet spot for the best movies on the cheap has been around $1,000 for 65-inch models for years. Televisions below that price often force you to deal with important issues. Hisense U6H certainly does not offer the highest image quality of the phone, but the changes made are the most appropriate that we have seen. This TV has great color, including all DCI-P3 movie formats available and great out of the box. It also offers tons of features thanks to its Google TV interface; You get microphones for hands-free Google Assistant, as well as support for Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Its biggest flaw is its mediocre specs, but it performs better than other budget models we’ve tested. .
If you want a lot of features and good power, but the $1,000-for-65-inch screen is a bit too high for your budget, this is one of the best options. Apple AirPlay and Google Cast support will delight families using Android and iPhone. Just understand that you can get a bright and different image above for less money.
While Amazon’s original Fire TV Omni disappointed us, the Fire TV Omni QLED offers a better picture at a similarly low price. It’s not very bright, but its color is strong and it’s packed with Fire TV features like hands-free Alexa. It also supports Apple AirPlay.

This is a standard TV for Amazon users who already have Echo smart speakers somewhere in the house. It’s not too expensive, and it works like the Fire TV Cube, which is more expensive on its own.
TCL’s latest 6-Series Roku TV remains one of our favorites (along with the 6-Series Google TV at the top of this list). It’s not as color accurate or as feature-rich as the Google TV model, but it still offers great contrast, wide color, and Apple AirPlay at a lower price. This is the best Roku TV available, although we can name a few Google TV models that we like.
The Roku TV platform is great for its simplicity; It doesn’t try to do much outside of loading and typing. It does not include a voice assistant or a general home model to control smart devices, but only software and basic knowledge of voice search. Add Apple AirPlay, a powerful contrast, and a lower price than the likes of TCL and Hisense Google TV, and you have a worthy competitor.
The Vizio M50QXM-K01 is one of the cheapest gaming TVs available, offering features that other budget TVs like the Hisense U6H don’t. In particular, it has a 120Hz panel with normal refresh rates (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium, and its shoulder is low. The TV’s colors are very wide (probably a fault; without some tweaks it can look better sometimes). It also uses Vizio’s SmartCast platform, so it has Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Its biggest weakness is diversity; it’s a slow-moving secret table with only a hint of black. The difference, incidentally, is why we’re focusing on the 50-inch model here; Vizio says the 65- and 75-inch versions in the same row are brighter, and we can’t make a judgment without testing them ourselves.

This is for budget-conscious gamers who want a large monitor or large television. 50 inches isn’t small, but the screen is still smaller than most 55- and 65-inch TVs. The main solution of the M50QXM-K01 is the game; 120Hz panels are rare on budget TVs, and VRR and FreeSync Premium are nice bonuses. Bold and dark colors can sometimes offer limited opportunities in games, making enemies stand out more than a good black and white image.
In all honesty, this isn’t very good TV. This Toshiba model powered by the Amazon Fire TV follows the tradition we mentioned above of non-premium Fire TVs. It’s dark and doesn’t support hands-free Alexa, for example, but the biggest appeal here is its price. The 75-inch model costs less than $1,000—and you can often find it for less. In comparison, the TV we recommend the most for the same price is the 65-inch model.
If you want the most TV for your money and don’t mind making a lot of promises to get there, the Toshiba C350 is for you. It’s over with luck.
Big names in TVs include LG, Samsung, Sony, and other brands that are known around the world. The biggest names don’t always mean the best situations, however. These Chinese companies have been coming to the US for the past few years with very affordable models that offer good picture quality. They live in a country formerly controlled by Vizio, which the company gave up to maintain its strong position in the television market.
We’ve gotten to the point where 4Kis is a luxury, especially with 8Kgearing being the main powerhouse for a few years (emphasis on years; don’t worry about it). You can find a small TV that is still 1080p, but most of the screens on the market are 4K. With that in mind, we advise you not to go below 4K.
Simply put, there is no reason to buy a 1080p TV at this time. 4K models offer many advantages and no longer require a special purchase. In addition to clarity, 4K TVs better support high dynamic range (HDR), meaning they can be brighter and more colorful than 1080p TVs with standard dynamic range. And, since many media services now support 4K HDR, you can get a lot of 4K content in the box without having to worry about converting your DVD or Blu-ray.
