Update Sell Galaxy A51 Review

Update Sell Galaxy A51 Review – According to Counterpoint research, three of the five best-selling phones worldwide were Samsung phones, coming in third, fourth and fifth behind the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. If you live in the US, you probably think of Samsung when you think of it. Galaxy S or Note – But Samsung’s best-selling phones were the mid-range Galaxy A phones.

With the $399 Galaxy A51, Samsung is trying hard to sell more phones in the US. That price puts it in direct competition with the iPhone SE, but there are plenty of other Android phones for less than $500. What makes the A51 different is Samsung’s marketing budget and partnership. It’s available unlocked on Amazon and Samsung’s website, which is important for Samsung’s mid-range devices, and it’s also available on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and Xfinity Mobile.

Compared to the iPhone SE, the main highlight of the A51 is the display, a large 6.5-inch OLED. Samsung says the phone is “amazing” in terms of three features: display, camera,

The Galaxy A51 Android 12 Update Is Here!

Battery life An ad full of tongue-in-cheek memes was even created to drive these points home. (You should watch it because the ad is really amazing.) Unfortunately, the Galaxy A51 isn’t that great.

Galaxy A51 does not look like a cheap phone at all. It is large and well put together. Samsung says the material it’s made of is called “glass,” which is much nicer than it looks. It almost feels like glass, but with just a little bit of that hollow feeling you get from plastic.

The device comes with 128GB of internal storage, which is pretty generous at $399. In addition, you can expand it with microSD memory. There’s also a headphone jack, which would be welcome at any price, but in this case it’s somewhat more important than usual.

My favorite part of the Galaxy A51 is the display. It’s simply a 6.5-inch OLED that performs well, even in sunlight. If you’re looking for advanced display technology—like color that adapts to ambient light, high refresh rates, or even ultra-high resolution—look elsewhere. But at 1080 x 2400 resolution, even at this screen size, there are too many pixels. I’ve seen a lot of low-rent big screens on Android phones, and this isn’t one of them.

Samsung Galaxy A51: Where To Buy In The Us

Every phone has trade-offs, and $399 phones cost more than $1,000. So phone makers have to choose their priorities, and Samsung clearly chose the screen. Given that there are things that people look at and interact with hundreds of times a day, choice is a good thing.

But I can wonder—not about the screen, but what’s underneath—specifically, the punch-hole selfie camera. I have no problem with pinhole cameras. In fact, I generally prefer them to cutouts of any size. But for reasons beyond comprehension, Samsung has placed a small chrome ring around the camera. When light hits it, it gets stuck at certain angles and then becomes hard to see. It is strange.

Another item under the display is an optical fingerprint sensor. I’m not sure if Samsung doesn’t have enough iterations with these sensors, but it’s horrendously slow. It may take a second for the green animation to let you know the phone is unlocked. It’s also not the most accurate sensor, especially in direct sunlight.

Unfortunately, this advantage also extends to the processor and RAM. In the US, most of Samsung’s popular phones use Qualcomm processors, but this A51 uses Samsung’s Exynos 9611, a mid-range chip that doesn’t quite do the trick in making this phone feel fast. Apps take a long time to load – especially if they haven’t been opened recently and are therefore not already running on 4GB of RAM.

When you’re in a browser or app, everything goes at a decent clip. But every now and then it struggles to render a page or load the next item in your feed.

As I said, different phone manufacturers have to choose their priorities on these cheap phones. For example, Apple kept the same old iPhone 8 body with a smaller screen and large bezels for the iPhone SE, but included the fastest mobile processor available: the A13 Bionic. Samsung chose another method.

Battery life is good, but doesn’t quite live up to Samsung’s “long-lasting” claim. I managed a little over a day – better than I did on the iPhone SE. But with a 4,000 mAh cell and a 1080p display, I’m a little surprised I didn’t get much better. In theory, these specs should add up to something much more impressive, and I wonder if the Exynos processor might be to blame.

Finally, there’s the camera system, which consists of more lenses than necessary. The main lens has a 48-megapixel sensor that outputs 12-megapixel photos as standard. These images, like almost all cameras these days, are decent enough in good light. I was surprised to see good white balance, something Samsung sometimes lacks. But Samsung’s other bad tendency to remove shadows unnaturally remains.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Review: A Minor Change To The Mid Range

You probably know what’s coming: It falls hard in low light — worse than the iPhone SE, in fact. And when you really zoom in on the A51’s details, there’s a lot more clutter than other smartphone cameras — including at 48MP.

There’s a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera, each more for fun than taking great photos. Good fun! I enjoyed using these cameras. There’s also a “5MP” depth camera, which doesn’t seem to do much good, at least when it comes to portrait mode. Finally, the selfie camera is 32MP and produces images that often look over-processed.

Finally, software. Samsung’s One UI tweaks on top of Android continue to make using a large-screen phone even better. But Samsung’s penchant for letting carriers fill their phones with malware persists: My Verizon-based review unit was loaded with games and services no one wanted. I also wish I could say that I trust this phone to receive software updates for more than two or three years.

Of the three “amazing” things that Samsung promised, I think the Galaxy A51 only delivers on one and a half of them. The screen is amazing, the battery life is great, and the camera doesn’t impress. The Pixel 3A (and possibly the upcoming 4A) and iPhone SE shocked with their $399 camera quality. But the A51’s photos definitely look like they came from a mid-range phone.

It’s hard to make a good $400 phone, and none of them are amazing by all possible standards. But you want at least a few parts of the phone to feel like they came from something much more expensive. Screen aside, the Galaxy A51 isn’t amazing enough.

Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it — contracts that no one actually reads. It is impossible for us to read and analyze each of these contracts. But we started counting exactly how many taps you have to use the devices, because these are agreements most people don’t read and certainly can’t negotiate.

There are many optional agreements. If you’re using a carrier-specific version, there will be more of them. Here are just a few:

There may be others. For example, I already had a Samsung account, so I didn’t have to accept any additional terms for it. The Samsung Weather app also has its own privacy policy, which may include sharing information with weather.com.

Finally, if you get the carrier version of the A51. The Verizon version we tested had options for Verizon location, app info, cloud services, and even a “Digital Safe” virus service, none of which are necessary, but all of which are persistent and annoying during the setup process.

Final tally: There are four mandatory agreements, about eight optional ones that I expect most users will accept, and four or so carrier agreements that I expect most users will say no to. The Galaxy A51 has big shoes to fill. This Galaxy A50 is one of the most successful smartphones released by Samsung in 2019.
