Update Samsung M31s Mobile Price Review – Samsung Galaxy M31s is getting One UI 4.1 update based on Android 12 operating system in Russia. The smartphone has One UI 2.5 skin running on Android 10 operating system and was launched in 2020. It has since adopted One UI. 3.0 update based on Android 11. The latest update is March 2022 with security fixes and performance improvements. The Samsung Galaxy M31s is a slightly more powerful version of the Galaxy M31 and has received One UI 4.1.
According to a recent report from Sammobile, Samsung is rolling out Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update for the Galaxy M31s in Russia. It says it has the version number M317FXXU3DVD4. The One UI 4.1 update brings an updated user interface to the Galaxy M31s. It includes a Color Palette feature that sets the accent color of the user interface based on the wallpaper you choose. This change applies to stock apps, Google apps, and third-party apps.

Stock apps like My Files, Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet, and Samsung Keyboard have also been updated. The Galaxy M31s is said to improve system security and privacy by adding privacy indicators to show active use of the camera and microphone. Additionally, the Privacy Control Panel allows users to easily toggle system-wide camera and microphone access.

Samsung Galaxy M31s users will be automatically notified when the smartphone becomes available for updates. Users can also manually check for updates in Settings > Software Update > Download & Install. Currently, only Russian users are reportedly getting this update. Samsung hasn’t made any official announcements about its global rollout plans. However, other regions are expected to start receiving this update in the next few weeks.

With the Galaxy M31s, Samsung tried to repeat the winning formula. Although there was an option to offer an updated chipset, the company didn’t choose to do so, making it the weakest link. Even if the device performs well, repeating the same chipset on almost every device will be a hassle. Also, the M31s cost more without offering any better improvements than the M31. The Samsung Galaxy M31s is definitely an improvement, but only just. Smartphone manufacturers believe that “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and repeating a winning combination sometimes works. But does it always have to work? Even more so is the M series, which has helped revive Samsung in the face of China’s challenges.
The Samsung Galaxy M31s is one such phone that has matured over the past few iterations, starting with the Galaxy M30, the M30, then the M31 launched in February of this year, and now the M31s. So the comparison between the M30 and the M31 is straightforward when the M31 is placed side by side. Obviously, the lineup hasn’t changed much, but the M31 has taken a few leaps from the M31 in terms of features and performance.
This shows that Samsung is generally heading in the right direction with these mid-budget smartphones. That being said, we’ll put those comparisons aside, at least for now, and try to assess whether the Galaxy M31s is worth the money you’ll spend.
Samsung Galaxy M31s Specs And Price
The Samsung Galaxy M31s has been launched in two different color variants, Mirage Blue and Mirage Black. There are two variants of the device – 6GB/128GB priced at Rs 19,499 and 8GB/128GB priced at Rs. 21,499 and the phone can be purchased from Amazon India.
Samsung announced on August 26 (Wednesday) that its recently launched Galaxy M31s will be available on Amazon India stores from August 27 (Thursday). The device went on sale on August 6 during Amazon’s Prime Day sale, followed by the Freedom sale until August 12, and then disappeared from online sales for a while.
The phone is available on Samsung’s official portal, but the 6GB variant was not available for purchase. We’ve reached out to the brand to clarify this and will update this section as soon as we hear back.
The Samsung Galaxy M31s retail package includes some manuals, a phone, a SIM removal tool, a USB Type-C to USB Type-C charging cable, and a 25W USB-PD fast charger. Unlike many other Samsung devices, the M31s does not come with a screen protector or protective case in the retail box. And you won’t get headphones in the box, which is common these days.

The Samsung Galaxy M31s is huge out of the box. It has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with an Infinity-O display and a punch-hole selfie camera. On the right side is the power button with volume rocker and fingerprint sensor, while on the left side is the triple SIM card slot that accommodates two nano SIM cards and a micro SD card.
Although the phone is tall with a subscription display, the fingerprint sensor is placed in the most convenient place and is easily accessible. As a right-handed person, I found it very easy to unlock the device with my thumb. When I tried using my left hand, I found that the ease of use did not decrease when using my index finger.
The device unlocked quickly, indicating that the fingerprint sensor is working well. However, it did experience a few instances where it didn’t register the correct pressure from my thumb and locked me out for a few seconds. Also, the phone constantly displayed the “Fingerprint sensor disabled” warning in such cases, indicating that an accidental touch was enough. There were also instances where the sensor refused to accept my thumbprint. So it was an overall unpleasant experience.
At the bottom is a 3.5mm combo jack, a USB Type-C charging port, a microphone, and a bottom speaker. The phone has a huge 6000 mAh battery and is slightly bulky.

On the back, Samsung opted for a minimalistic design, which I like considering the rugged stuff that’s common these days. What you have is a square camera setup, an LED flash in a rectangular camera module and Samsung branding.
The reflective gradient design grabs everyone’s attention here. The camera bump isn’t too obvious, but it does have a slight edge to protect the lens from scratches. In addition, there is a circular ring around each lens, which not only looks bigger, but also adds to the overall design of the device.
The back panel of the phone blends in with the body thanks to the curved edges, which makes the device very comfortable to hold. The carbon back panel on this phone is different from other similar devices and can be mistaken for glass.
The rear panel of the Galaxy M31s is smooth, but magnetic for fingerprints. You usually come across it while wiping your phone with a cotton cloth. It is plastic so the back is scratched. The device we have has enough scratches for a few weeks of careful use. If you use it for a long time, the back panel will show signs of wear and tear, so it is recommended to get a case for your phone.

Overall, the phone is designed to look premium, with the gradient design adding to the look and feel along with the minimal glass back panel and camera module. These, combined with the large display on the front, indicate that this phone belongs to the family of premium devices of the Galaxy S10 series.
The screen on the Samsung Galaxy M31s is one of its strengths. The 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution is one of the best displays you’ll find in this price range. However, Samsung may need to tweak the next-generation devices as they don’t have the high refresh rates found in most flagships at this price point.
Although this may be subjective, we believe that the camera setup is better because it takes up less screen space, and as a result, you get a taller display.
