Xiaomi is preparing to launch two new Redmi Note 9 smartphones in China, the Redmi Note 9 5G and the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. The two upcoming Redmi Note 9 smartphones will be launched as Redmi Note 10 series in India and other markets. Before the rumors, the specs of Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 9 5G were leaked, revealing a 108MP camera sensor on the Pro model.
Update Redmi 9 5g Review
Redmi Note 9 5G specifications are listed on TENAA under the model number M2007J22C. According to the listing, Redmi Note 9 5G or Redmi Note 9 Standard Edition will sport a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display. The smartphone is expected to come with 4GB, 6GB, 8GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options.

On the back, the Redmi Note 9 5G is likely to have a triple camera setup with a 48MP main sensor. Information on the other two sensors is not yet known. For selfies, the smartphone will have a 13MP front camera located in the hole in the upper left corner of the screen. The Redmi Note 9 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor and is supported by a 4,900mAh battery.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, on the other hand, will be powered by a Snapdragon 750G processor paired with 6GB, 8GB and 12GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone can have 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options.
On the front, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G will sport a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a punch hole. The smartphone is expected to have a 108-megapixel main camera at the rear and a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies. According to the TENAA listing, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G will have a 4,720mAh battery.

Realme seems to be targeting budget gamers with a display highly upgraded and a capable processor. Does this Realme 9 Speed Edition offer a good experience? Is the Realme 9 SE different from other mid-range smartphones? Is it worth your money? We started working on the Realme 9 SE review a few days ago. So it’s too early to answer these questions. The Realme 9 SE 5G comes with a huge 6.6-inch FHD+ LCD display, which the company calls “Ultra Smooth Display”. One of the main marketing reasons for this is the 144Hz refresh rate, which makes all the difference. You’ll feel fast, especially when scrolling through social media or browsing the web. This combined with the 360Hz touch sampling rate allows the user to use the screen well. Sometimes a slight flick of the fingertip is all it takes to start the action. It is advertised to offer a maximum brightness of 600 nits. Based on my real experience, I am satisfied with the brightness of the screen. I tested it in direct sunlight and it was readable without straining my eyes.
Watching videos and streaming content over OTT is smooth and immersive on the Realme 9 SE. The images are vivid and look lifelike. It supports HD streaming on OTT platforms.

The first thing you notice when unpacking a new smartphone is the design of the back panel. At least I’m the one giving brownie points to devices for color and design. This was why I opted for Realme 9 SE. The back panel of Realme 9 SE features a unique starlight design that seems inspired by galaxies and spaceships. The version I got is called Starry Glow and it looks like a star that glows in the sunlight. When I took it out to the sunlight, the white, silver and gray colors kept changing. It has a vertically stacked rectangular camera module on the top left, with a triple camera setup and an LED flash. At the bottom left is the Realme branding in a silver gray font.
Realme 9 SE has a quick fingerprint scanner on the right side that doubles as a power button. At the bottom is the speaker, USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack, and on the left is the volume rocker and 3 slots for SIM and SD cards. The phone is light and smooth, so it feels good in the hand. It weighs just 200 grams (199 grams) and is 8.5mm thick.
The Realme 9 SE, like most of its competitors, has a triple rear camera setup. This setup features a 48MP Ultra HD main camera with a 6P lens capable of taking professional photos. It also has a black and white portrait and a 4cm macro lens, but Realme hasn’t disclosed any megapixels or sensor details.
The phone has a 16-megapixel AI beauty selfie camera with an F2.1 aperture and supports modes like bokeh and smart beauty to keep skin tones and colors as natural as possible. Focus is good because the background doesn’t seem important when the subject is in the frame.

I haven’t tested the basic camera settings yet, so I’ll have more to say and more camera models in a few days.
The Realme 9 SE comes with a 5000mAh battery that can last a full day with light to moderate usage. It comes with 30W Type-C Dart Charge which charges your phone super fast. 75% of devices charge within 32-35 minutes which is a good indicator. The Smart 5G power saving mode turned on helped save battery when you forgot to charge your phone before going out.
The Realme 9 SE 5G comes with the Snapdragon 778G SoC, a first for a smartphone in this category. The device Realme lent me for review has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In my limited usage time, the Realme 9SE met my expectations. Apps loaded quickly, and I was able to switch between apps running in the background with no issues. The phone has multiple connectivity options including Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity.
The phone runs Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11, which is not the latest version of Google’s smartphone operating system. The UI comes with loads of bloatware with Snapchat, Spotify, Phonepe, Daily Hunt and other apps pre-installed. Fortunately, most of these programs can be uninstalled, which is a relief. The sound quality is impressive and matches the display well. I haven’t run benchmarks and played games on the phone yet, so I’ll be able to talk more about the performance in our Realme 9 SE 5G review.
Realme 9 5g Review
Despite the limited time I spent with the Realme 9 SE 5G, it managed to leave me with a positive first impression. Its attractive design, good display, and capable processor make it a good package for the price. I have yet to test the Realme 9 SE’s camera in real life, but I’m sure I’ll update you on the cameras soon. With good battery life and charging speed, the Realme 9 SE looks like a good choice for budget-conscious buyers.
