About this Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro review: I wrote this Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro review after spending a week with the phone. Xiaomi offers the device

Mi 10 Pro is a flagship phone that competes with OPPO Find X2, HUAWEI P40 Pro and Samsung S20 family. It’s a heavy hitter designed to appeal to those who want the whole package: good looks and outstanding performance. This is not an easy exercise. It’s easy to get at least part of the equation right, and it’s easy to get the resulting solution wrong.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro sees the company focusing on four main tentpoles: display, processor performance, battery life and camera. If these are important features that give you bang for your buck, Xiaomi has them in spades.

There is a slight change, however: the Mi 10 Pro is more expensive than its predecessor – almost twice as much – and in line with the competition on price. In other words, the phone has lost one of Xiaomi’s traditional advantages. Let’s see how the Mi 10 Pro earns its hefty price tag — and whether it’s worth your money.

Mi 10 5g Review: The Stage Is Set For A Xiaomi Vs Oneplus Face Off In The Value Flagship Segment Tech News , Firstpost

Xiaomi hasn’t broken any new ground in terms of design, yet the Mi 10 Pro looks the same. This is a refurbished product as I have seen from Xiaomi.

Anyone buying a flagship in 2020 should be familiar with the glass sandwich form. An all-slim metal design between two Gorilla Glass 5 panels that wrap around the edges to match the aluminum. The glass is flawless and creates a completely seamless transition from glass to metal to glass as you move your finger around the edge. The fit and finish is second to none.

The phone comes in two colors: Alpine White or Solstice Grey. Xiaomi presents us with a gray model that looks like the evening sky before a blizzard. It has a satiny finish rather than a glossy finish, giving it a premium quality. The metal frame is sleek, but painted to match the dark, foggy mood of the phone.

Apart from the color, the camera module is the most striking design feature on the back of the phone. Instead of going with a large rectangle, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has placed the cameras in a vertical column. While all three lenses are in a single rising module, the fourth lens is, inexplicably, an island unto itself. The effect? It looks like an exclamation point. A reflective chrome ring surrounds the top lens, heralding the phone’s high pixel count. The module, offset to the left, means the phone looks like you’re tapping the screen when you’re sitting on a hard surface.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Review: The Premium Segment Gets Its Redmi Note

Controls are about what we expect from flagships. That means USB-C but no headphone jack, no SIM card tray but microSD, stereo speakers and slim buttons. The screen lock button and volume rocker, both on the right side, are probably too slim. Performance is good.

Not a big fool. The Mi 10 Pro is about the same size as the Google Pixel 4 XL, and much smaller and narrower than the LG V60. In other words, it’s easier to pick up and use than some flags. It is also sized and may be too big for some people.

Xiaomi claims it has “splash protection” but doesn’t have a full IP rating. Almost all Mi 10 Pro competitors (S20, V60, P40, Pixel 4, OnePlus 8 Pro) have IP68 ratings.

All in all, the Mi 10 Pro may be simple, it may be safe, but it’s amazing in all the right ways.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite Review: Beautiful, Compact And Powerful

Xiaomi has made a conservative choice regarding the display. Or is up to you. It’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that can be set to 90Hz if you want a smoother experience. The refresh rate isn’t higher than the 120Hz displays of the S20 series or the OnePlus 8 Pro, but it matches the rate of the HUAWEI P40 Pro and Google Pixel 4 XL. Full HD resolution is dense enough for the panel, but I’d like to have Quad HD+ as an option. Brightness can reach up to 1,200nits under certain conditions. There is no notch, but you will see a small hole camera in the left corner of the screen. The Iconic Icon is Xiaomi’s version of the Infinity-O brand from Samsung.

It all means a good show. It is pixel-rich, bright and colorful. Everyone should be happy surfing the web, scrolling through social media or punching out some emails on this screen. I really enjoy the look when set to 90Hz rotation and the animation movements are smooth, smooth, smooth.

If you like Netflix on the go, HDR10+ certification means you’ll get the best picture from the streaming service. The phone also has TUV Rheinland certification and a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. The recent Ozark looks amazing on screen.

Finally, the phone has an under-display fingerprint reader. You are positioned about where you want to be. While I still prefer rear or side-mounted readers, the Mi 10 Pro reader is acceptable in terms of speed and accuracy. An eye opening tool that doesn’t rely on any fancy technology is accurate but not as safe as 3D-based solutions.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Review: A Phone That’s Too On Trend

In particular, the Mi 10 Pro matches a lot of the competition when it comes to screen technology and performance.

The Mi 10 Pro has the expected silicon under the hood. That means a top-of-the-line Qualcomm processor with enough fast RAM, storage and cooling to keep most users happy. The Mi 10 Pro scores on Geekbench and the new 3DMark, higher than 99% of other phones in the database. This easily matches the numbers posted by other Snapdragon 865 flagships like the S20 Ultra and OPPO Find X2 Pro. I call it a 3D marker for a reason: it shows the refresh rate. In one test, the phone managed 88 frames per second and hit a full 90 in the second. This shows that the refresh rate is real.

In daily use, the phone is a smooth operator. Nothing about the Mi 10 Pro ever feels slow or sluggish. Thanks to Google’s free Stadia offer, I checked out a few games on the Mi 10 Pro, including Destiny 2. The game works well. I didn’t see any dropped frames during gameplay. The Mi 10 Pro lacks dedicated gaming features – but it still packs all the punch you need.

This also applies to battery life. Xiaomi is batting 1,000 when it comes to battery metrics: it lasts longer than most phones, and once the battery is depleted, charging is faster than most phones. This is the story every phone manufacturer wants to sell to consumers.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Review: A Superb Mid Range Phone With A 108mp Camera

Screen-on time is usually more than seven hours. This includes a combination of powerful uses like YouTube and bookmarking, as well as checking email and taking photos. Most current flagships see screen-on times in the six-hour range. The Mi 10 Pro usually pushes through at least a day and a half and sometimes a little more. Xiaomi’s power-adjustment is a good thing. Not quite the two days Xiaomi promised, but it’s still the best of the competition.

While most phones last a day on a charge, the Mi Note 10 doesn’t charge as fast. Xiaomi claims that the included 65W charger can charge the battery from 0% to 100% in 45 minutes. Our observation was 47 minutes, but that’s still a record time. It’s rare to see a battery at the 80% mark in such a short time, let alone fully charged. Leaving the phone plugged in for 15 minutes gives a 40% boost.

As for wireless charging, the phone supports 30W fast power delivery. We don’t have a wireless charger with that capability. However, the phone charges fully in 80 minutes.
