Update M31s Samsung Specs Review – Samsung Galaxy M31s has started receiving the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update in India. The mid-range smartphone receives the core version of the One UI 3.1 which will not get all the features of Samsung’s flagship smartphones. Samsung Galaxy M31s will only receive the February 2021 security patch in this update with build number M317FXXU2CUB1. Samsung has completely skipped One UI 3.0 for this smartphone. The OTA update comes to the smartphone in India a month after Russia and Ukraine.
The latest update for Samsung Galaxy M31s (Review) brings a core version of Galaxy Samsung Galaxy M31s, a core version of M31s, which loses some of the features compared to One UI 3.1 on flagship Samsung -smartphones. Either way, expect some refreshed UI, parental controls, digital wellness, a dedicated media player widget for quick settings, improved Samsung keyboard, among others. The new OTA update, with the February 2021 security patch, weighs around 1.93 GB and it is advisable to download it via Wi-Fi while the phone is charging. Samsung also mentions in the changelog that with the new update for Galaxy M31s, apps copied with Dual Messenger will no longer have access to files on the microSD card. Users will need to navigate to their My Files app, go to the required file, select and share with Share page and select the copy of the app.

If your Samsung Galaxy M31s has not received the update, don’t worry. You can manually check if it is available for your phone and install it by going to Settings > System updates > Check for system updates > Download now > Install update.
Last month, Samsung slashed the prices for the Galaxy M31s by Rs. 1,000 and it is now selling at Rs. 18, 499. Samsung also started rolling out the update for Galaxy M31s in Russia and Ukraine last month. The mid-range smartphone joins a large list of Samsung smartphones that have now received the One UI 3.1 update based on Android 11.

If you are spending around Rs 15,000 on a phone, would you seriously consider a phone other than a Redmi Note or perhaps an equivalent Realme or Nokia device? It wasn’t that long ago that Samsung was the default option here. And it’s not that Samsung doesn’t still make great phones, it’s just that the budget phones just haven’t been as exciting in recent years. At least not compared to the competition.
Does the Galaxy M31 change anything? To answer this all-important question (for Samsung’s sake, if no one else’s), keep reading.
Samsung went with Glasstic for the back of the phone – plastic that looks and feels like glass – which is smart because it gives the phone a premium finish while keeping the weight down. And weight could have been an issue because Samsung squeezed a monster 6,000 mAh battery into this thing.
And don’t let the “glass” in “gloss” fool you, it’s still plastic and still prone to scratches, and it’s glossy, which makes the phone smooth to hold, especially for someone as butter-fingered as me. On the bright side, the phone doesn’t look cheap, unlike its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy M31s Review: Bang Between A Note And A Nord Place!
The color variant I use is Space Black, which is quite boring for my taste, to be honest. There is no gradient, it is just clear. If you don’t want black, your only other option is Ocean Blue.
Despite the glass, the phone is still a bit heavy at 191 grams, but you have to live with that if you want that 6,000mAh battery.
A little tip, buy a phone case because you will need one and Samsung won’t give you any.
The Galaxy M31 has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The bezel and chin of the phone are thin and have curved edges, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.

The four-camera setup packed in a rectangular camera module is also not unique, as Samsung has made it its signature design element in its 2020 series, you can find it in Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus, as well as on the recently announced stated Lite model Galaxy S phones.
You’ll see a fingerprint sensor on the back, and on the bottom a headphone jack, Type-C port, and speaker grill.
Starting with the 32MP front camera, the phone takes some really good photos. In terms of details and colors, the phone lived up to my expectations. It won’t improve the colors that many phones do these days. When I use portrait mode, or “live focus” as Samsung calls it, the phone takes a few seconds to adjust focus, but it will be worth your time, because in terms of edge detection, brightness and colors, it scores well .
Moving to the rear camera, which includes a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP wide-angle camera, 5MP depth camera and a 5MP macro camera, photos clicked in broad daylight are quite impressive. In some cases the colors were washed out. Detail and clarity were to mark.

The ultra wide angle shots are also decent. In some cases, I felt that the images captured were much warmer than the actual scene, but at least the image wasn’t ugly or unrealistic.
I had high hopes for the camera as it took beautiful daylight photos, but it failed at night. If you use the camera at night or even in deeply lit areas, you will get nothing but blurry photos. There was no brightness and far too much noise, I had to strive to capture a photo that didn’t look like I was running while shooting. And if you think night mode can help, you’re wrong. Other than brightening the pictures, it didn’t do much. In my opinion, this is a red flag if you do a lot of low light photography.
The smartphone is powered by an Exynos 9611 chipset, which is the same as in its predecessor and the Galaxy A51. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 10 and offers 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.
You get an app drawer, and switching between apps is pretty smooth. I didn’t see any lag while using the phone. I played various videos, games, and music, and I didn’t notice any lag or heating while doing so. It is clear that the phone is perfectly suited for your daily tasks.
Samsung Galaxy M31 Android 12 Update Has Been Released
Games are another matter. I played RoadRash on the phone and it wasn’t really smooth. I wish Samsung had gone with a more powerful processor, something like the Snapdragon 730G chipset, which the Poco X2 offers for example at 15,999. The Realme 6 and Redmi Note 9 Pro also pack more capable hardware at this price.
The battery is the main feature of the phone – 6000 mAh is just amazing. I used the phone for a day and a half and even then it didn’t drain completely. One small (okay, it’s not a small) compromise you have to make is with loading time. You are dealing with a 15V charger. If you plan to stay out for a while, you better go into Zen mode while you wait for the phone to fully charge. On the plus side, once charged, you won’t have to worry about battery life for a long time.
However, the screen and single speaker are very nice, and I think this phone could be a good option for those who only consume a lot of videos. In fact, few phones offer an OLED screen at this price, and if that’s important to you, the M31 is a no-brainer. Along with the massive battery, Netflix binges can become your thing all day long.
There are few reasons to buy this phone, but to be fair, they are good. The OLED screen is fantastic, as is the battery life. Performance is adequate for day-to-day tasks, and as long as you don’t want to game much, there’s really no reason not to pick up the phone, aside from camera performance.
Galaxy M51 Vs Galaxy M31s: What Samsung Phone Is Better?
The reasons not to buy this phone are equally compelling. Phones like the Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max are more powerful, more exciting and offer better cameras. The phones also charge faster.
