IQOO 9T officially launched in India The IQOO 9T has arrived in India as the first smartphone to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The IQOO 9T 5G is undoubtedly one of the best looking smartphones under Rs 50,000. The back of the phone has a dual black finish, the top of the rear panel is glossy with a carbon fiber pattern, while the iQOO logo sits at the bottom with a glossy texture and a matte finish with the iQOO logo. There is a large square camera island with three sensors and an LED flash on the front and back of the phone has an aluminum frame with glass protection Finally, there is an IP52 rating for some splash resistance and a very fast voice fingerprint reader in the display.

As for the structure, the iQOO 9T chooses the position of the standard power and volume buttons on the right side and the USB-C port and the SIM tray at the bottom. A pinhole camera is located in the center of the cutout in the box, iQOO includes a charging adapter, a cable, a transparent case, a SIM tool and a USB-C cable to an audio jack. The IQOO 9T also contains an audio treat to enhance the gaming experience and a dual stereo speaker for superior haptics. The design and overall build quality of the IQOO 9T is very much in line with most flagship smartphones, although iQOO was unclear about the quality of glass used.
In terms of display, the iQOO 9T chooses a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED panel with relatively narrow bezels. The screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz, which goes up to 1200 Hz in instant mode. The display supports HDR content on both Netflix and YouTube with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, the screen is easily visible under direct sunlight. There is no LTPO technology here but this does not detract from the excellent performance used in the iQOO 9T. The screen is perfect for entertainment consumption and the high refresh rate makes everything you do on it very smooth
Performance is at the heart of the iQOO 9T as the first smartphone in India to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Along with the chip, you get up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The new ‘Plus’ version of Qualcomm’s flagship chip offers a slight improvement in performance which is quite negligible. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC should pack significant gains in sustained performance and power efficiency. The iQOO 9T also has a large vapor cell liquid cooling system and Vivo’s V1+ chip to boost framerates in games through frame-to-frame interpolation.
And in terms of sustained performance, the phone performs very well. The IQOO 9T ran most tasks with little effort, though internal and external temperatures were much cooler than what we experienced on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone. In my short time with the phone, I ran Call of Duty: Mobile on settings the maximum and Diablo Immortality on High at 60fps. The IQOO 9T managed to stay pretty cool under pressure while gaming The IQOO 9T managed a single-core score of 1401 points and a multi-core score of 4192 points, a significant increase over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip in the Vivo X80 Pro (review).

As far as cameras are concerned, the iQOO 9T packs three main Samsung GN5 50-megapixel sensors with f/1.88 aperture and OIS. The main camera is paired with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide unit with f/2.2 aperture and a 12-megapixel telephoto device with f/1.98 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The camera system is capable of 20x digital zoom and 5x hybrid zoom on the video front, the iQOO 9T can record 4f video at up to 60fps, while the front camera is limited to 1080p video at 30fps. The photos taken on the ultra-wide shooter are not as detailed as those taken on the main camera, but they are good enough with sufficient lighting.

The IQOO 9T definitely has one of the best primary cameras in the segment, although the other two cameras can’t keep up with the main camera. The IQOO 9T boasts a large 4,700 mAh battery, which is enough to last you a full day of use. On the software side, the phone boots Android 12 with Funtouch OS 12 on top iQOO also promises three years of Android updates and four years of security updates with the 9T. The overall interface is similar to the iQOO Z6 Pro, although some unwanted bloatware is gone, leaving you with a cleaner interface. The IQOO 9T also features a game mode that can be used to boost frame rates and improve performance using the V1+ chip.
Starting at Rs 49,999, the iQOO 9T isn’t cheap but from my brief experience with the phone, I’d say the 50K price tag is justified when you consider the offerings. The rear camera system in the sub-50K segment is versatile so there’s an incredibly fast and reliable Qualcomm chip combined with a super soft display and super fast charging support.
