The first thing you need to do is remove the back cover from the mobile WiFi device, so you can install the SIM card and battery.
There is a small notch on the corner of the device from which you can open the cover. Slide your fingernail under this hole and you’ll be able to open the back cover of the MiFi device.
Since the battery goes to the SIM card, you will need to insert the SIM card first.
To do this, take the punch-out card provided by EE and remove the SIM. You want a nano SIM card, which is the smallest. Pulling out the SIM card can be a little tricky, but don’t worry about hitting the big SIM card, because you won’t need to use it.

Luckily, EE has the best coverage of any UK mobile network, so the speeds you’ll get with this mobile WiFi device are generally pretty good.
If you live in an area with a 5G signal and are looking for faster speeds, you can also use a 5GEE WiFi device.

You can use 4GEE WiFi Mini while traveling abroad. However, it can cost more, depending on where you go.
Within the EU you can use your regular data allowances, just like in the UK. Outside the EU, you must purchase a roaming allowance.
Additional roaming charges will depend on the countries you visit. EE offers several different daily roaming plans, offering different prices and different data limits depending on where you travel.
Whether you’re leaving the EU or not, you’ll need to activate EE roaming. To do this, connect to your device, type 192.168.1.1 into the browser, log in, go to settings and select “Data Roaming”.

If this MiFi device seems a bit expensive, or you want a permanent mobile broadband solution, there are some alternative devices you can use.
The device itself isn’t as big as the Tri, so the Wi-Fi range is shorter and it can handle fewer simultaneous connections.

Instead of a battery, the 4GEE Home Router 3 plugs into the wall like a normal WiFi router. However, it connects to the EE 4G network, rather than using your landline.
