Most of us consider a “cheap” TV to be less than $1,000 for a 65-inch screen. Our definition has changed slightly due to component shortages and logistical issues in recent years; many televisions that used to cost less than $1,000 have been seen costing several hundred dollars in that time. Down to the 55-inch screen prices remain well below the flagship model, but if you don’t mind some compromises in image quality, you can find a 65-inch TV that meets the mark. We’re highlighting 65-inch models under $1,000 on this list when they’re available (and there’s even a 75-inch screen from Toshiba that’s under four digits).

TCL’s Google TV 4K 6-Series is simply one of the best overall values. It has excellent contrast and colors, as well as many features thanks to the Google TV interface. The remote microphone supports hands-free Google Assistant, and you can even mirror your Android phone or Chrome tab via Google Cast. More importantly, it’s below the $1,000-for-65-inch line.
Best Cheap Tvs 2022: The Best 4k Tvs Under £500
This is a great TV if you want good picture quality and great features at a reasonable price. It doesn’t do anything well outside the scope of Google TV and it’s not particularly stylish, but it’s still great value.
A good spot for excellent image quality at a reasonable price is around $1,000 for the 65-inch model for a few years. TVs below that price often force you to deal with significant compromises. Hisense U6H certainly does not offer the best image quality, but the compromises made are the most reasonable. This TV has great color, covering almost the entire DCI-P3 digital cinema color space with solid accuracy out of the box. It also offers many features thanks to the Google TV interface; you get a remote microphone for hands-free Google Assistant, as well as support for Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Its biggest weakness is the low contrast, but here it is still better than other budget models we have tested.
If you want a lot of features and pretty strong picture quality, but the $1,000-for-65-inch point is a bit high for your budget, this is one of the best options. Apple AirPlay and Google Cast support are also interesting for families with Android and iPhone users. Just know that you can get brighter, higher contrast images for less money.
TCL’s latest Roku 6-Series TV remains one of our favorite values (along with the Google TV 6-Series at the top of this list). It’s not as color accurate or as feature-rich as the Google TV version, but it still offers good contrast, wide color, and Apple AirPlay for a reasonable price. Roku TV is the most available, although we can name a few Google TV models that we prefer overall.
The 2 Best 4k Tvs On A Budget Of 2022
The Roku TV platform is attractive because of its simplicity; it doesn’t try to do much outside of loading and playing content. It also doesn’t include a voice assistant or a full home screen that controls smart devices, just apps and basic voice search capabilities. Add Apple AirPlay, strong contrast, and a lower price than similar TCL and Hisense Google TVs, and you have a worthy competitor.
The Vizio M50QXM-K01 is one of the cheapest gaming TVs available, offering features that other cheap TVs like the Hisense U6H don’t have. Specifically, it has a 120 Hz panel with a standard variable refresh rate (VRR) and AMD FreeSync Premium, and the input lag is quite low. The color of the TV is too wide (perhaps a mistake; without tweaking, it sometimes looks oversaturated). It also uses Vizio’s SmartCast platform, so it has Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. The main weakness is the contrast; This panel is quite sparse with only moderate black levels. Contrast, incidentally, why we are focusing specifically on the 50-inch model here; Vizio claims that the 65- and 75-inch versions in the same line are much brighter, and we cannot judge them without testing ourselves.
This is for the budget minded gamer looking for a very large monitor or medium sized TV. 50 inches isn’t exactly small, but it’s still a smaller screen than the more common 55- and 65-inch TV sizes. The big thing for the M50QXM-K01 is gaming; 120Hz panels are rare on budget TVs, and VRR and FreeSync Premium are nice bonuses. Wide colors and washed-out black levels can sometimes give the game some edge, making enemies in the shadows more visible than accurate images.
Amazon’s Fire TV platform powers some of your favorite media streamers, but it still lags behind Google TV and Roku TV in terms of widespread integration, especially with higher-end TVs. Basically, every Fire TV model we’ve tested is a budget-friendly model with budget-based performance. The Fire TV Omni doesn’t offer amazing picture quality either, but the good news is that it’s dirt-free and offers hands-free Alexa support (just like you get with the Fire TV Cube).

For Amazon’s current first-party TVs, the Fire TV Omni is still very cheap. So, it should appeal to anyone who wants to save money. Heavy Amazon users, especially anyone who has used an Echo or Echo Show, should check this out: It’s actually a big Echo Show smart display.
Honestly, it’s not the best TV. This Toshiba model powered by Amazon Fire TV follows the aforementioned trend of Fire TVs not being top-of-the-line. It is quite slim and does not support Alexa hands-free, for example, but the big appeal is the price. The 75-inch model costs less than $1,000—and you can find it even cheaper. For comparison, most recommended TVs at similar prices are of the 65-inch variety.
If you want the biggest TV possible for the money and don’t mind making many compromises to get there, the Toshiba C350 is the one for you. That’s how it is.
Among the biggest names in television are LG, Samsung, Sony, and other brands with a global presence. A big name doesn’t always mean the best value. While we’ve seen some incredible TVs from this manufacturer, almost all of them are flagship models that cost several thousand dollars each. More affordable TVs are often less impressive and tend to get less attention.

These Chinese companies have entered the United States in recent years and carved a place for themselves in the TV market with very affordable models that offer good picture quality. They occupy the ground that Vizio used to dominate, the ground that the company has given up a bit to maintain a strong position in the mid-range TV market.
We are also beyond the point where 4K is a luxury, especially with 8Kgearing up to become a major force in a few years (emphasis on the year; don’t worry about it yet). You may be able to find small TVs that are still in 1080p, but most screens on the market will be in 4K. With that in mind, we recommend that you don’t go lower than 4K when buying.
