LG’s C2 Evo OLED TV is an impressive follow-up to the company’s class-leading C1 that we reviewed in 2021. Simply put, the LG C2 offers the best color accuracy we’ve ever seen out of the box without calibration. It also has the lowest input lag we’ve measured on a TV and has useful features like Apple AirPlay and hands-free access to some voice assistants. LG’s WebOS platform is still a little clunky to navigate, but that’s our only gripe with otherwise stellar performance. The 65-inch model we tested is quite expensive at $2,499.99, but the LG C2 Evo still easily wins the Editors’ Choice award for OLED TVs.

The C2 is a bit more elegant and minimalistic than the C1. The panel is still bezel-less, with a thin strip of gray metal running around the edges and a black border of less than a quarter of an inch between it and the active part of the display. The panel itself is also super thin at a quarter inch, although the rectangular housing for the electronics on the back of the screen is 1.8 inches thick. The C2 rests on a rectangular gray metal stand that’s a little narrower than the C1, but still holds the screen firmly. You can also mount the TV on the wall using a standard VESA mount.

Lg C2 Oled Tv Review: The Best Oled For Most People

All ports, except for the permanently attached power cable that runs from the bottom center, are on the left side of the case and face left. They include four HDMI ports (one eARC), three USB ports, an Ethernet port, an optical audio input, an antenna/cable connector, and 3.5mm ports for RS-232C control and an IR blaster. The permanently attached power cable is a disappointment, as cables are very susceptible to damage, and we always prefer the ability to easily replace them (or simply use a longer or shorter cable as needed).

The remote control is the same curved, black stick with buttons we’ve seen on previous LG TVs, and it’s perfectly functional, if a little clunky. The remote has a large circular navigation pad with a scroll wheel in the center that doubles as a confirmation button. Fortunately, the tension on the wheel is very tight, so you probably won’t accidentally turn it when you want to click it. Above the navigation pad is a number pad, volume control and channel control. Dedicated service buttons for Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, LG Channels and Netflix, plus buttons for Alexa and Google Assistant are located below the navigation panel. The remote also has an accelerometer that lets you use it to control the on-screen cursor.

WebOS 22 is the latest version of LG’s smart TV platform, and it comes with tons of features and a solid selection of apps. It has all the popular streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, YouTube and even Twitch; the only major omission is Crunchyroll. WebOS also features a full web browser that works well with remote, ambient and art modes, as well as a control panel that integrates LG smart devices and other compatible devices. The platform supports Apple AirPlay and Miracast/WiDi, but not Google Cast.

The built-in LG voice assistant allows you to directly control your TV and any other compatible smart home device; alternatively, you can access Alexa or Google Assistant for even more features. The C2 has a far-field microphone array that allows access to the hands-free voice assistant, albeit only for Alexa and LG. Hands-free Google Assistant isn’t supported on the C2, so you have to use the remote for that.

Although it offers tons of features, WebOS 22 still feels a bit clunky and clunky. The interface is sometimes slow to respond to remote inputs, especially when switching between apps and the home screen. As is typical for LG, the TV’s settings are buried just a layer or two deeper than on most other TVs. For example, the settings buttons on both the remote and the WebOS home screen only open a quick-select menu for common settings. You can edit the menu to show different options, but even then, the options are limited. For what it’s worth, these are the same gripes we had with WebOS on the C1, and they don’t detract from the TV’s stellar performance.

The LG C2 is a 4K TV with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Can display High Dynamic Range (HDR) content in Dolby Vision, HDR10 and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG)

The C2’s color performance is near perfect. The graphs above show the measured color values of a TV with an SDR signal in ISF (brightness) calibrated mode compared to Rec.709 broadcast standards and with an HDR signal in Cinema mode compared to DCI-P3 digital cinema standards. It achieves optimal Rec.709 values, which is great, but also very common for many TVs. The big surprise is the DCI-P3 performance.

Lg Qned91 Review:

Out of the box, the C2 accurately covers the entire digital cinema color space, with no significant color deviations from the target. Few TVs have come close to this level of performance, but they always have some sort of flaw: for example, the C1’s purples are warm, and the TCL 6 Series’ yellows are slightly undersaturated. The C2’s colors are as perfect as we’ve seen on consumer TV. Until TVs start reaching the wider Rec.2020 color space (which still doesn’t dominate consumer content), the C2 is the gold standard for uncalibrated home theater TV accuracy.

Looks fantastic on the C2. The green of the plants and the blue of the sky and water look diverse, alive and natural. Fine details like skin and bark are easy to see in both bright light and shadow. However, horizontal panels look a bit jagged on the TV in Cinema mode at default settings. I hate to admit it, but you might want to consider turning on the TruMotion motion smoothing feature and setting it to Cinematic or Natural Motion to reduce judder; neither causes the soapy effect that an excessive motion smoothing setting can produce.

Also looks great on C2. Deadpool’s red suit is nicely saturated and accurate in the opening scenes in cool light and doesn’t have the slightest purple tint. The flames in the burning lab fight stand out brilliantly, and the dark shadows still show plenty of detail
