Seriously. This is the best TV on the market. It’s hard to beat LG with its 65-inch curved 4K OLED TV. This is unbelievable. The era of television technology is powerful and worth every penny.
When LG contacted me to review their new 65-inch 4K curved OLED TV, how could I say no? I read about it and enjoyed the green, but when it arrived it completely changed my life. So before I get to the rest of this article, I’m going to take this ‘review’ differently.
Today we are not going to review the LG 65EG9600. This is my experience with the most beautiful TV I have used in the last two weeks. It’s almost impossible to convey my thoughts on gaming, video content and everything in one review – so I’ve decided this first part will be my experience with LG’s 65-inch 4K curved OLED TV.
I’ll follow up with a longer piece about my experiences with various 1080p and 4K movies, YouTube content, and more — and then another piece focused solely on PC gaming and using NVIDIA’s new Shield on a 4K OLED set TV. I think this is the best way to provide the best content for your men and women because this TV is worthy of discussion from many angles.

The LG 65EG9600 features the aforementioned 65-inch 4K curved OLED panel, which looks absolutely stunning. It has a quad-core processor inside, a Magic Remote (2015 model), WebOS (which we’ll get to later), an internal web browser, 3D support, and different Wi-Fi bands.
LG has partnered with Harmon Garden for indoor 2-channel, 20W speakers that look great for built-in speakers. We also have USB ports that support HDMI 2.0 support, DivX HD, AC3 and more.
The entire TV weighs 70.9 pounds (or 32.1 kg) in the box, 55.3 pounds (or 25 kg) with the stand attached and 44 pounds (or 20 kg) by itself without the stand.
LG sells its 65-inch 4K curved OLED TV at most major retailers, with an MSRP of $4999. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but we’ll quickly see why it’s better than many other TVs in this price range (and some even more expensive).

There is a big difference between LED and OLED TVs, older LED TVs are just LCD TVs with LED backlight. Where LCD TVs have 3840×2160 pixels, there are only a few LED backlights that illuminate the screen. OLED technology allows each pixel to light independently of other OLED pixels.
This technology offers unparalleled quality and above all: deep black levels. Deeper blacks allow for greater contrast and richer color, providing a more immersive image. LG markets its OLED TVs toward pixels that turn off completely, achieving “perfect blacks for infinite contrast,” and we agree. Love at first sight.
There’s a big increase in pixels when you go from 1080p to 4K, with 4K offering a staggering 8.3 million pixels compared to 1080p’s 2 million.
You might not think much of it, but when you’re sitting in front of a 65-inch curved 4K OLED, those pixels make all the difference.

For a $5000 TV, you’d expect a well-boxed and securely packed TV, right? Of course. LG offers it here, but the 4K curved OLED box depends on your market. Here in Australia we have a simple box compared to the more colorful box in other markets like the US.
You can see the model number on the front of the box on the right and Horton Gordon speakers on the top right.
Here are a few tips on how to get it on top of the TV – because it’s bigger, you need to pay more attention to it.
Inside, you’ll find the TV (cable with power attached), a bunch of styrofoam, and an accessory box. Inside the accessory box, you’ll find the 3D glasses, remote, and some accessory cables.

One big drawback is that LG doesn’t include an HDMI cable in the box. Of course for $5000, you can add a $20 cable.
Here it is in front of the TV, arranged in my bedroom with my drawers. It’s great, I love it. Bonus points if you can guess what that little black box in the corner is.
