Best Buy said it will offer two sizes of boxes at launch: a “small” size of 9 x 5 x 3 inches with a weight limit of up to 6 pounds, and a “medium” size of 18 x 14 x 4. Maximum weight limit is 15 lbs. Small is $23 and medium is $30. The boxes come with a prepaid shipping label, and once the electronics arrive, Best Buy says its service partners will destroy all data and the devices will be sustainably recycled.
While it says the data will be destroyed, it still advises customers to delete information before sending messages for recycling.

On February 1, Best Buy began charging $25 for each television and computer monitor its stores accept for recycling. The electronics retailer has been accepting only CRT (picture tube) TVs up to 32 inches and flat-panel, LCD, plasma and LED TVs up to 50 inches.
Best Buy said it no longer recycles any TVs or monitors in two states, Illinois and Pennsylvania, because state laws prohibit fees for doing so. (Best Buy still doesn’t charge in California because the state requires consumers to pay up front for e-waste recycling when they buy a TV or monitor.)
According to Best Buy, the new fee does not apply to free shipping for customers who buy a TV at Best Buy and have it delivered to their home.
