Not too long ago, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 11 – an early 2022 phone that sells for the most affordable price. Just a month ago, Xiaomi also introduced a “Pro” sibling with an ironic name called Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

But I think the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G shares a lot with the Xiaomi 11T. It’s a phone that was announced last September 2021 and it’s really good and it’s a premium mid-range.

If I remember correctly, Xiaomi started doing this first on the Mi 10T Pro. The difference in style is extraordinary.
If you go to clean the phone, you will be greeted by its screen with a cut-out hole that is always in the middle like on the Redmi Note 10 and 10S.
And luckily they decided to use a fingerprint scanner which is very similar to the one they used in the Xiaomi 11T – good tactile feedback and fast charging.
The similarities between Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G and Xiaomi 11T do not end there. Although I used the Pro counterpart, it’s still safe to say that it’s the same in terms of hardware. Both the 11T and 11 Pro 5G have a 6.67-inch 120Hz display with a punch hole.

When you get into the specs, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has a good Super AMOLED display with 1200 nits of brightness compared to the Xiaomi 11T’s AMOLED display, only 200 short.
However, the latter supports HDR10+ content while the former can display HDR10. Again, the 11T has Gorilla Glass Victus while this phone has Gorilla Glass 5. This is still a nice feature considering its price.
In my daily use, it is a real feast for the eyes. Color pop and calibration are not greatly improved unlike other AMOLED screens.
I’m well aware of AMOLED’s break-in issues, but I’d still prefer it over IPS-LCD smartphones. I mean, just look at those deep blacks that really blend with the camera lens as well as the black bezel.

Visually and visually, it also has stereo speakers. Whether I’m playing K-drama full of amazing dialogue or K-Pop songs that sound loud, soft, or a mix between the two, the speaker lineup is clear and loud enough.

The only disappointment for me is the limitation of video playback to 1080p Full HD. Now that we have mentioned its chipset, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is powered by Snapdragon 695. It is one of the latest mid-range chipsets with 5G.

Passionate fans should listen to me. Just because it’s a Snapdragon chip doesn’t mean it’s always better than its MediaTek counterpart. We’re not really big on benchmarks, but just in case you’re curious, its rival MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G chip overall beats the Snapdragon 695 according to this comparison chart. And of course, the Redmi Note 11 Pro (or the Chinese version of this phone) has the aforementioned MediaTek chip.
The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is not designed to be Black Shark’s flagship smartphone. But the graphical games are pretty playable for the most part. You just need to stick to low or medium graphics to play well.

Like all games we play with different equipment requirements, not all tokens are created equal. It also goes to show that having a ‘Snapdragon’ processor doesn’t mean it’s a ‘good phone’ alongside other MediaTek phones with the same specs.
If you’re worried about 5G speeds, they’re always slow and region dependent. Through my testing, it gave me faster download and upload speeds when I’m on the subway to work in a cafe that the 4G LTE standard can’t provide.
