A vet has been fired after mistaking a neighbour’s beloved cat for a wild animal and shooting it with a bow and arrow before posting a ‘killer’ photo on Facebook.

Dr. Kristen Lindsey posted a sickening photo on social media Wednesday, showing her holding a cat aloft with an arrow sticking out of its head.

Invited to watch, she wrote: “My first bow kill lol. The only fierce cat is the only one with an arrow through the head! The Veterinarian of the Year award… We were delighted to accept it.”
However, unbeknownst to the vet, the animal was actually a family pet named Tiger, a 6-year-old tabby who had gone missing in Brenham, Texas, earlier that day.
That prompted an advocacy page on Facebook, called Justice for the Tiger, where the campaign is calling for Dr Lindsay to be charged with criminal offences.
The Facebook page includes pictures of Tiger, as well as a video posted on YouTube by the cat’s owner back in November, KBTX reported.

She wrote: “No I didn’t lose my job lol. Pssh how are people going to get rid of me I’m great!”
However, it has since been confirmed that she has been fired, while Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said he will refer the case to the district attorney for review.

A chilling Facebook photo of a Texas vet standing with a cat shot through its hairy skull with a touch of anger prompted a woman to launch a police investigation.
The picture of Dr. Kristen Lindsey holding a dead orange and white cat was just “disgusting,” Austin County Sheriff Jack Brands told the Daily News.
“My first bow kill,” Lindsey captioned her photo, complete with cat emoji, from her since-deleted profile.

After seeing the inhumane post on social media Friday morning, Brandes sent two deputies to Lindsay’s home to investigate whether animal cruelty had indeed occurred. Deliberately killing cats, even strays, as Lindsay suggests, is against the law nationwide.
“This is not accepted in our society. I don’t like it and I hope we don’t have to deal with this again,” Brandes added.
Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, Texas shot Lindsay hours after the photo went viral and identified her on their Facebook page. The clinic used duct tape to remove her name from street signs.

“We are absolutely shocked, appalled, saddened and appalled by this behavior,” a clinic spokesperson wrote in a statement.
Their concern was echoed by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, which condemned the killing. The association stressed that the vets in question were not affiliated with them and would be breaking their oath to protect the health and welfare of animals.
