I usually don’t know what to put in a gift basket. Instead, I like to pick a theme, then shop around and get something that fits my theme and who I am.
Or if I have an idea of what goes in a Valentine’s gift box, it’s usually one or two big items, and I only add when I find other Valentine’s gifts!
For these Valentine’s Day gift baskets, I went with gift tags with an “I love you” theme. So for the basket, I wanted to fill it with something heart-shaped, heart-shaped, or heart-related.
I went to my grocery store and found milk chocolate hearts, dark chocolate heart cakes, heart shaped bath bombs, etc. They had so many options for fun gift baskets.

Sweet treats are stale chocolate, candy, cookies, or anything sweet. It’s Valentine’s Day, so delicious food is always a win! You can also make homemade chocolate truffles, these round cookies, and these pumpkin butter cookies! You can even do something kitchen-related!
Fun Snacks – If candy isn’t their thing, try heart-shaped cookies, cheese, olive oil, or whatever you want on Valentine’s Day. The goal is not to fill the basket with their favorite foods, but to fill them with things they really like!
Value items are bath bombs, bubble bath, spa essentials, mist socks, masks, shaving kit (for men) or anything else I can use on a short notice. If you need more ideas, these DIY gift ideas will all work well!

An inside joke – something to make the recipient laugh – is a great addition to any gift basket. I love making things based on inside jokes like the “Perfect Man” that my husband puts in his gift basket because I always call him perfect. A simple idea can be the most exciting!

You never think of giving a child a gift basket, at least I wouldn’t, but my kids love them. They’re not really called gift baskets—they look like treasure boxes, Easter baskets, or something else—but they’re gift baskets all the same.
He likes anything! Snacks like pasta, nuts, and chips are great additions. Sports gear, outdoor gear, cookware (if they like to cook), cute socks, bags, etc. Items that make a great stocking stuffer for her would be great in a gift basket. Plus classic chocolates and candies.
