Update Zavvi Arrow Sale Review – I finally got my hands on a copy of Arrow Video’s release of True Romance last fall (I just got around to reviewing it). Unfortunately not 4K UltraHD (but I plan to get it), but I don’t have a full UHD-capable home cinema anyway, so this is not a hindrance. The disc is already in its second pressing, and the first limited collector’s edition, whether Amazon, Xavi or other exclusive edition stores, sold out quickly and cost a lot of money on Ebay, and the second release of bones. Currently rarely available or still available (click here for our overview). Second edition standard presses are available for example at Zavvi and some other outlets or on Ebay for a terrific price. But for some people around, you can get your hands on a copy, because at the moment, there is no information about a possible third pressing from Arrow, or indeed any worldwide release. So at this point, releasing arrows is a singular opportunity. Let’s go inside.

The disc includes newly remastered versions of both of these cuts, so they should look better than previous iterations, especially if you get the 4K disc, and
, it has some very interesting new extras that will let you go a little deeper in the movie, while also bringing on the extras already available. So let’s take a look at it.
) is a loner in Detroit who works at a comic book store. His boss sets him up with an Alabama college girl (
) for his birthday, who pretends to bump into him while he’s in his usual birthday routine by himself: watching karate movies. The two get on well, so well that it comes clean and the two fall in love and get married soon after. Disturbed by the existence of his old pimp, he moves forward and meets the man, Drexel (

), kills him in the ensuing confrontation, and grabs a briefcase with Alabama’s junk. The problem is: instead of his things, the two lovebirds end up with a suitcase full of coke. They’re in big trouble now, because coke belongs to underworld boss Blue Lou Boyle, so they say goodbye to Clarence’s dad (
) and they go to Hollywood, where they intend to sell Coke to the big movie producer Lee Donowitz (
). With the mafia on their toes, and the cops closing in on Tinseltown drug shenanigans, it will be a test if true romance wins…..
Now I make a point not to watch the old theatrical cut, I don’t even know if the first time I saw True Romance (probably on TV in the late 90’s) it was the theatrical cut or the director’s cut, but no . really one I believe in favor of cutting the theater. An important discussion can be held. But it is for those who complete them and are nostalgic and I think it is wonderful that both are still available.
Dinner In America Blu Ray
Not only did I come to watch it again after all these years, but I would really like to say that this could be one of the best films of the 90s, which deserves a re-appreciation by the wider public, something that was at the time the movie came out. He didn’t enjoy it. It has so much heart, such writing and it’s just an amazing movie experience all around that will grab you in the balls…and heart.
No score is not the most original composition but it is a stunning and comforting score that adds a lot to the character of this – one of the most romantic films of all time.
What makes the film so great is not only the great script and impeccable dialogues and some fantastic characters, but the whole list of great actors who play everything from seminal to almost extra (like
, a delightful pairing). The movie is just full of supporting roles that provide talent and stardom, I mean, the one role that is the smallest in this movie is that of Floyd Podhead and he plays the role.
The Green Mile: Ultimate Collector’s Edition Zavvi Exclusive 4k Ultra Hd Steelbook (includes Blu Ray) 4k
, before delivering an uber cool one liner and blowing his brains out! No wonder people didn’t get it at the time, the audience wasn’t cool enough for it.
The film features a lot of heart and some serious violence, but it’s also a typical Scott film – a gritty look at a world we’re not talking about. And the confrontation becomes more Scott but also takes a big bite out of it
Book: Violent, poetic, dramatic, surreal. True Romance is a prime example of brilliant, creative cinema from the 90s that gives an early taste of Quentin’s talent for writing scripts for characters with fascinating stories that are relatable without being a coke dealer of course. I’m so happy to see this again, what a great movie.

Spike Lee’s Classic
On the disc image, I must say, jumping back and forth between the older releases and this one, the difference is not great, but you will notice more realistic and vibrant colors, much less dust in the overall clear picture , with just a little more detail and depth that is apparent. In general, it is a clear and objectively better transfer – but not a revolution. To be fair in the restoration work, this has a lot to do with the tricks our eyes play on us, so I Googled a comparison of the screen 1: 1 and the difference is really something, especially the UHD, it offers many more details and the source material.Authorization in context. If you have 4K, that’s a different thing, putting you in a whole new range of detail and color depth, and HDR color range and all that.
Sound is still hard to compare, but my impression is that they run the material through a more advanced process and it gives a bit more range and is less compressed. Whether you choose a surround track or a stereo track, it sounds really good. A slight flaw with all the tracks, and it’s before this edition, is that the touch of dialog spoils the background/ambient sounds which, if you listen too closely, can sometimes sound distorted or a little muffled, but it doesn’t. This does not hurt the overall experience and the added clarity of dialogue is a very welcome effect.
Where the disc shines are the extras. Of course you will find the excellent audio commentary that Quentin did for the previous release, which should be a must for every fan. I won’t go into too much detail about the old extras, any self-respecting fan should be familiar with them. Next to excellent comments by Quentin, there are accompanying comments
, which is also essential of course, and one with Slater and Arquette, which was always the least interesting commentary of the three (partly because they both don’t seem super excited) but it’s still worth checking out. This disc has a commentary by Navi
Robocop (limited Edition) Blu Ray
. It has the benefit of hindsight and takes a more meta and bird’s eye view of the film and would rank right behind Quentin in wealth of trivia and pop culture references. It is certainly a welcome addition to this disc, very well informed and entertaining.
Which is new to this disc. Some of this is great commentary, whether it’s Pitt’s hindsight or Rubinek’s (which was done on the phone). All these people are very rich and if they had more of this they probably could edit this together in a film-accompanying track. Then there are some new interviews as well
(8 min; co-founder of the annual True Romance Fest and now owner of Cadillac). Of course, these names don’t necessarily ring a bell with most people, but that’s part of why they’re cool.
There are deleted and extended scenes from earlier, with alternate commentary by Tony, as well as alternate endings with alternate commentary by Tony or Quentin, and then what Arrow calls the electronic press kit, it’s a lot of things that were part of that. Advertising campaign: Four features and five interviews since then. But in addition to that, there are of course trailers and TV spots as well as image galleries (including production photos as well as videos and poster art work).
