Xiaomi Unveils A New Redmi Note 10 Pro With Some Surprising Features
As our Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review will reveal, this is one of the best smartphone deals out there. It’s so close to the everyday experience of a $1000 / £1000 phone that you’d never guess it costs $279 / £249 (about $360).
It lacks one feature that might disappoint you: 5G. This is a 4G phone. This will always be a 4G phone, so make sure you’re happy with slower mobile internet for the duration of your ownership.
Another issue is video stabilization. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro captures 4K video, but there is no stabilization above 1080p, which makes it useless in many scenarios.
These are the bad parts of Redmi Note 10 Pro. The rest is gold – so much so that this ranks among the best Xiaomi phones, and arguably among the best budget phones from any brand.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Review With Pros And Cons
The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a large 120Hz OLED screen. The Snapdragon 732G brings the goods for gaming, and the phone has some of the best speakers we’ve heard for the price.
You get a solid 108 MP camera. And while you shouldn’t put too much faith in that very high megapixel count, it produces beautiful photos and has access to a good night mode.
There is also a very unusual and unusually good macro camera. Most budget phone macro cameras are barely worth using. This is great for nature photography.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro’s battery also lasts a long time, even if you use the 120Hz display mode for smoother scrolling.

There’s mountains of substance here, and the build quality also gets more attention than we expected. The Redmi Note 10 Pro has a Gorilla Glass back, not the plastic we see now on even expensive Android phones.
The strongest price competition includes the same company’s Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, which is heavier, thicker and has an LCD screen rather than OLED. It’s a little less stylish, but it’s still a great buy. Or there’s the Realme X50 5G, which you should buy if you want 5G.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro was announced in March 2021 and is now available in the UK. You will also be able to buy this phone in the US, but the exact release date has not been revealed yet.
It starts at $279 / £249 (around $360) for the Redmi Note 10 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. We’re reviewing the 128GB / 6GB version, but that costs a bit more at $299 / £269 (about $390). There’s also a version that keeps the storage at 128GB but ups the RAM to 8GB for $329 (about £235 / $425), which appears to be a US exclusive.

It might not seem very cheap for a 4G phone. If you really want 5G, you might want to stop reading now. But the Redmi Note 10 Pro makes up for it in other areas – so much so that we rank it among Xiaomi’s best phones.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro combines high-end and low-end design features. It’s a mix we really like.
For example, you get a headphone jack, just like cheap phones. But the back of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is slightly curved Gorilla Glass, not the plastic used by much more expensive phones these days.
The only obvious sign that the Redmi Note 10 Pro is a budget phone is that its parts are made of plastic rather than metal. I’ve used the phone mostly with its case on and you still can’t tell the difference.
Redmi Note 11 Pro 5g: A Worthy Successor
Redmi’s big design “sell” here isn’t the glass back, but how the rear camera array looks. The main lens has a shiny silver frame, and the two-tier outline is there to make the camera look even better than it already is.
We end up with an easily confused phone that costs $700, not $279. Sure, that camera bump isn’t pretty, but it doesn’t look cheap.
There are also more important reasons. Redmi Note 10 Pro is not too thick at 8.1mm, and the weight under 200g (193g) is not too much. You would assume it cost a lot more. Well, unless you’re a smartphone enthusiast who knows how aggressive phones from brands like Redmi and Realme are.
The back of our Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review sample has a nice satin finish that shimmers silver when it catches the light. And if that sounds too simple, you can also get it in white and orange.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5g Review: When Is A Budget Phone Pro?
Considering the price, we’re big fans of the Redmi Note 10 Pro’s hardware design. However, if you plan to use it regularly, the plastic side buttons are a “budget” gift.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, not an in-display one, but it’s fast and reliable. There is also an IR blaster at the top which is used by the Mi Remote app to make the phone act as a universal remote.
You only see these on Chinese phones, but I’ve used this feature a few times in the last 12 months.
One feature you won’t just need in an emergency: the speakers. The Redmi Note 10 Pro is great for a budget phone. They are loud, offer some bass and have two drivers. One sits at the bottom, the other at the top of the screen. And Redmi gives this top two exits, at the top and at the front. This increases the stereo sound field and ensures you don’t get stuck when playing a game.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Review
The screen of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is also exemplary. It’s a large 6.67-inch 1080 x 2400 OLED display with a 120Hz panel.
It offers good clarity, excellent contrast, deep color and enough space to appear as a screen made for videos and games.
The OLED panel is a great showcase for the high refresh rate. “120Hz” means the image refreshes at twice the standard rate and moves through the app drawer more smoothly than it would on most other budget phones.
Cheap phones with high refresh rates are nothing new, but some LCD examples have slight but noticeable high-contrast scroll marks, reducing the perceived benefit. There is no such problem here.
Redmi Note 11 Pro 5g Review: A Worthy Successor Or Just A 5g Update?
This is a wide color gamut display that supports HDR10 video, has adjustable color and a relatively high maximum brightness.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro will hit around 400 nits at maximum brightness indoors, but the display rises to 594 nits in bright conditions, according to our colorimeter. We had no problem composing shots with this screen on a clear day.
Of course, phones like the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra have double the brightness. But many phones costing three times the price are pretty much on par here.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro has the kind of chipset we would expect from a phone in this class. It’s the Snapdragon 732G, a mid-range processor with some gaming optimizations, packed into a high-frequency graphics section.
Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5g Review
This isn’t the most powerful processor we’ve seen for the price. The Snapdragon 765G and 750G used in 5G phones have more GPU power. Here we have a slightly less powerful 4G-ready alternative.
We were unable to run Geekbench 5 on this review sample as it is locked to do so. But according to the previous Poco X3 NFC results (with the same processor), its scores are almost the same as the Snapdragon 765G phone. You see a slight difference in GPU-based tests like 3D Mark.
Our advice is not to be tempted. The daily performance of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is perceptually comparable to phones three times the price, and it works perfectly for games.
Fortnite won’t let you use the 60fps mode available on some high-end phones, and “Medium” is the maximum visual setting. But for the most part, it runs at 30fps, aside from the usual drops you see when you’re knocked to the ground at the start of a match.

ARK: Survival Evolved also runs well on “Epic” graphics at maximum resolution, although we recommend switching to High graphics for a higher frame rate.
Asphalt 9 avoids most of the micro-lags common on cheaper phones thanks to the game’s dense environments.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is a great phone for gaming. And while rivals with Snapdragon 750G and 765G chipsets have a bit more gaming power, there’s a strong argument to be made.
