Update Xiaomi Mi 10t Pro Contract Review
Something already – and this phrase will be repeated once or twice during testing: Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G reminds me a lot of Xiaomi Mi 10 (click here for test). It’s only two and a half millimeters long and about one and a half millimeters wide, but it actually looks very similar to the high-end smartphone that came out earlier this year. It is long, narrow and elegantly made. The almost seamless transition between the back, bezel and front makes the well-balanced device look valuable.

We took a close look at the cosmic black version in our Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro review. Its front looks like a long black strip of glass that doesn’t show where the top and bottom are when the screen is turned off. At the back, the large and rectangular triple camera peeks out a little from the case. It is clear that there is no mention of the Xiaomi Mi 10, where the camera lenses are arranged in a narrow row.

The frame of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G is made of metal. The infrared emitter is also located on the upper edge.
As mentioned, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G case is quite long. To be more precise, the 165.1mm length is a tenth of a millimeter longer than the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and isn’t exactly small. I don’t have the tiniest hands but I have no way of reaching the top millimeters of the screen with my thumb without changing my grip or using my other hand. That alone is not uncommon or a problem, especially with the big high-end smartphones available.

However, I feel uncomfortable holding the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G as the housing is a bit slippery. Xiaomi has bent only the rear edges towards the frame and placed it on a flat front with this device, but the glass layer on the back is still not smooth for me. If you somehow put your smartphone in a protective case or use it with both hands, you don’t have to worry. A protective cover made of transparent plastic is also included with the smartphone.

In terms of case dimensions, the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G is larger. The screen measures 6.67 inches diagonally, giving you enough room to complete long train journeys with movies and other video content. Despite the similar size, the screen on the Xiaomi Mi 10 is technically different. For example, the fingerprint sensor is not on the screen, but on the side power button.
In the Mi 10T Pro, Xiaomi abandoned the AMOLED display and replaced it with an LC display. Naturally, this doesn’t offer very bright colors, and unlike deep blacks, it’s bright enough and has a fairly high resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. A special feature is the refresh rate: it is controlled by the device and can reach up to 144 frames per second, which makes the screen look smoother. If this is not necessary, Mi 10T will slow down to save battery.

The heart of the Xiaomi Mi 10 T Pro 5G is the Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm and that says almost everything. Other than the 865+, the chipset is the fastest Qualcomm currently offers. Any app loads quickly and plays smoothly and also supports 5G mobile communication. Missing features without adding the “plus” of the chip are, for example, video recording in Dolby Vision (HDR) and Bluetooth 5.2. However, the difference is hard to see for very few people, certainly not in everyday life.
Mi 10T Pro “remembers” some recently launched apps thanks to the built-in 8GB of RAM and therefore needs some time to bring them back to the fore. The high-end smartphone supports the use of two SIM cards, but the memory cannot be expanded with a microSD card. Even the cheapest version of the mobile already offers 128GB of internal memory, and that’s not a big deal as the 256GB version costs just 50 euros more.
If you look at the back of the Mi 10T Pro, you might also think that it is a quad camera. However, an opening next to the LED flash is a light sensor. For example, it allows the screen brightness to be adjusted according to the ambient light.

If you’re taking pictures with the main camera, usually four pixels are combined, resulting in an optimal 27-megapixel picture. The ultra-wide-angle lens provides wide shots of large groups, for example, in keeping with the name.
Both of the mentioned lenses produce really impressive photos and the macro lens is a bonus. The resolution is not high, that is, the image quality is not on par with other images. With a little more distance and a main camera, you can take close-up subjects just as well as good photos.
Part of the view from the main camera can easily compete with the result of the macro lens of the Mi 10T Pro.
Thanks to the fast autofocus, excellent photos can also be taken with the Mi 10T Pro. Mi 10 T Pro can even take quick burst photos for fast objects if you enable the option in trigger settings.

The selfie camera offers absolutely brilliant portraits, masterful HDR, and also offers various effects such as studio lighting, black and white images, and adjustable “beauty filter”. However, the latter should be used sparingly, as soft focus makes the image look a bit unnatural at higher settings.
Even a photo of an axolotl from the window of an aquarium was successful with the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro.
Pores, hair and other details are clearly visible. The image can also be softened with the beauty filter.
The battery is great and lasts a long time. Energy storage with 5000 mAh, for example, has 500 mAh more capacity than Samsung’s top model Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. In our testing, the smartphone turned out to be very durable, lasting significantly longer than a day even with regular use. Adapting the refresh rate to your user behavior and not running the screen at 144Hz all the time will also work here.

For me personally, the fast charging option is more important. The battery of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro can be quickly charged with 33 watts. A convenient charger is supplied with the smartphone and invites you to increase the battery charge by a few percent if you suddenly decide to leave the house. Too bad: Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro cannot be charged wirelessly.

Xiaomi offers Mi 10T Pro with Android 10 and above with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 12 user interface installed. We took a closer look at the Android interface, which was specially developed in the summer of 2020, and found it good. Xiaomi has included many good ideas here, some of which are reminiscent of good ideas from other manufacturers. But that shouldn’t worry us.
Instead, we’re happy with the clean and elegantly designed control center. You turn it on quickly by swiping from top to bottom, and you can turn the flashlight or your Bluetooth on or off, for example, with the big buttons. Even better: Like other functions, the Control Center can be flexibly adapted to your working preferences.
