According to Becca’s post, the student, named Atiqa, requested access to take a photo essay about her life as a drag queen for a recent photojournalism course.

Atiqa then asked if she could get access to the drag show on September 12 to film for her coursework and in return would film for free for the show.

Becca later declined because the show had already hired a photographer. “I offered him access to shoot the show in October. I haven’t heard back,” he wrote.

But on September 12, Becca reached the projector (where the show was held) and found Atiqa shooting an actor, despite previously being told by the producers that she was not allowed.

According to Becca, Atiqa goes directly to an actor and gets their permission to set up their dressing room station and maybe rehearse a number before the show.

“At that point, I yelled at her to leave,” Becca wrote, adding that Atiqa ignored her “clearly stated three times” refusal.

“Are students also taught how to request access? If someone is denied access to an event, does it seem fair to that person to request access from other players in the same event? Request access? Thus completely ignoring the manufacturer’s denial?”

The former apologized for the late response (Becca said she sent two emails to the principal a week) while the latter apologized on behalf of the school. Both promised to investigate the matter.

HOLLAND, Michigan – It’s been a year since the tragedy along James Road in Holland Township, when three boys died in a crash when their mother lost control of her SUV and crashed into a retention pond.

13 On Your Side has been following the case since the day it happened, and there hasn’t been much movement in court, but that’s expected to change in the coming weeks. The boys’ mother, Leticia Gonzalez, 31, will stand trial and face multiple charges in their deaths.

“This is a difficult case,” said Captain Jack Sparks with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office in July 2022 when the charges against Gonzales were announced.

On February 17, 2022, 4-year-old Jerome Gonzalez III, 3-year-old Jeremiah Gonzalez and 1-year-old Josiah Gonzalez were killed when their mother ran off the road and landed in a frozen reservoir on James Street. Near 112th Ave in Holland Township.

“Everything is hard, and as hard as it is for us, it’s hard for the family,” said Capt. Jay Douglas with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office the day after the crash.

Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene within three minutes of the original call. When they got there, they found Leticia Gonzalez, soaking wet, screaming that her three sons were in a partially submerged car.

“How he got out, I don’t know,” said Captain Douglas. “I knew he was in the water when the deputies came, screaming and forgetful, like everyone else.”

Gonzalez escaped from the SUV with only minor injuries. Her three sons were strapped into car seats. Police and lifeguards arrived and pulled the boy out of the water, which was covered in nearly eight inches of ice, but it was too late. The two older boys were pronounced dead when they arrived at the hospital, and the youngest died a few hours later.

Stettler Rcmp Lay Charges Against Driver Who Crashed Into Seniors’ Residence

It took several months before any updates on the case were made public as investigators tried to figure out what happened. In July 2022, Leticia Gonzalez was formally charged with three counts of operating while intoxicated causing death. Ottawa County Sheriff’s investigators allege that at the time of the crash, Gonzalez was impaired by methadone, a drug used to relieve pain and treat addiction.

“Under state law, it’s not automatically illegal to have it in your system with certain medications and things like that,” said Capt. Sparks, “so we should be able to do it on a controlled substance. The vehicle indicates impaired vision while the person is driving.”

In Michigan it is legal to drive while taking methadone when it is used as prescribed, but like any substance it can be abused. Court documents reveal that Gonzalez took a prescribed dose of methadone at the clinic on the morning of the accident, and then took another unprescribed dose hours before the incident.

“There will be a very thorough review of all the evidence in this case to determine how much he took and how much was actually in his blood,” Holz said. Holz said.

“It doesn’t depend on the fact that this mother went to a methadone clinic or came from a methadone clinic,” he added. “That’s what they need to prove that he wasn’t driving safely, and that’s because of the amount of any drugs in his system.”

Gonzalez was expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on January 19, 2023, but it was postponed. He then finally waived the crucial hearing on February 1st, and will now appear in Ottawa County Circuit Court on February 27th.
