TCL has long been known for bringing a lot of performance to TVs that don’t cost much. The trend continues with its latest 6-Series Roku TV, the 65R655, which keeps the price affordable while mastering the key elements of its performance — especially brightness and gaming capabilities. Throw in Roku TV’s super easy-to-use interface, and you’ve got a set that lives up to its image promise without breaking your budget.

You have to make a few sacrifices to get the best deal the 65R655 has to offer, as this simple kit won’t appeal to everyone and doesn’t have a ton of innovation compared to previous 6 Series kits. But in what it does offer compared to its predecessors and competitors, the 65R655 delivers an impressive amount of television while minimizing many compromises. If you’re looking for the best TV you can find under $1,000, this is a good place to start.

The Hisense U7H may not have mini-LED backlighting like the TCL 6-Series, but it does feature a QLED panel and the always-on Google TV operating system. And, for the most part, it manages to deliver a low-cost QLED TV viewing experience – but there are a few caveats to keep in mind.

In everyday use, the Hisense U7H provides a crisp and clear viewing experience every time. Whether watching in SDR or Dolby Vision, you’ll find colors vibrant and high definition. Talking about details, it handles content below 4K very well. 1080p content looked close to 4K, while 720p content didn’t quite get there and it wasn’t distracting.
