K Blu Ray Review: Disney’s

From the creative minds of the novelists who wrote A Quiet Place, came their latest star, 65. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods made a name for themselves in Hollywood. From A Quiet Place and its sequels to Haunt, Boogeyman and 65, they have become a “dream team” of writer-directors whose work is often met with approval. However, success is often a double-edged sword because after A Quiet Place was critically acclaimed and made a lot of money at the box office, expectations were high to continue delivering quality films. . Of course, since then, they have had hits and misses with 65 being the last.

Pilot Mills (Adam Driver; Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) takes a two-year job on a space flight to pay for his daughter’s medical treatment. However, during the mission the spaceship was hit by an asteroid and was destroyed after crashing and landing on the unknown planet. Everyone on board dies in the crash except for a young girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt; Avengers: Infinity War) who reminds Mills of his daughter. When the Mills realize that there is a place beyond the work, they begin their journey to find it however, there are obstacles, in the form of prehistoric creatures, in their way.

The pilot is always very good regardless of the role he takes, whether he is an astronaut fighting dinosaurs or Darth Vader’s grandson fighting violence and internal conflict within him. 65 years old, since there is not much dialogue, he has to rely on his face and body to tell the different parts of the story. Greenblatt is a good choice to act opposite Driver because he has been in several productions and has been given the rank of “young Hollywood” to watch.

When it comes to visuals and special effects in 65, Dolby Vision is a mixed blessing. The picture is excellent with clean lines and sharp details. Unfortunately, the quality also shows the flaws of the CGI dinosaurs which can be distracting.

Apple Tv 4k (2021) Review: A Welcome Upgrade, All Around

Fortunately, Dolby Atmos audio isn’t the same. The surround sound is layered and intense with dinosaur roars coming from the audience in every direction. Dialogue also sounds powerful and most of it is well placed with front speakers. Although some of the visuals and audio are not the best, overall the 4K disc offers a better visual and audio experience than the accompanying Blu-ray disc.

The combo pack comes with 4K and Blu-ray Discs and digital downloads. There are only 30 minutes of extras including Episodes, Set in Stone – Filmmakers, Visions of the Future – Making World 65, The Planet of the Abyss, and The Final Show – Screen Ideas. None of the extras include interviews with the characters and provide more detail.

65 has all the ingredients to be a great movie…a solid script, good video and audio quality, a good audience, and a proven director…but the movie never seems to come together. It’s easy to tell that the 65 is a Beck/Woods production as it has as much silence as it does dialogue and ambient sounds. Unfortunately, once the key elements are identified the story falls apart. Honestly, how many times in less than 90 minutes can the audience watch characters fend off dinosaurs and a hostile world?

And if that’s not enough, Mills and Koa must try and reach the escape hatch and get off the planet before a giant asteroid hits and destroys everything on Earth. The idea that life on other planets happens to destroy Earth before it does is fascinating and unimaginable.
