Update Ultra 5g Price Review – The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is one of our favorite smartphones of 2022, offering powerful performance and an amazing camera experience in every lighting condition. Samsung has also added an S Pen slot and support for a stylus, essentially merging the Note-line with the S-series Ultra. Beyond the hardware and performance, it’s impressive how the Samsung One UI has matured over the past few years.
Samsung will soon unveil the Galaxy S23 lineup, and we’ll take this opportunity to take a look back as we’ve been using the Galaxy S22 Ultra for a year. Our quick long-term review below highlights four key points –
Update Ultra 5g Price Review
Under the hood of Qualcomm’s flagship SoC, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers ultra-fast performance. Whether you’re switching between multi-tasker apps or a gamer, the S22 Ultra can get the job done smoothly. However, the thermals could have been a bit better as the back side generally got a bit hotter when the device was subjected to extreme stress, such as recording 4K 60fps video continuously for more than three minutes.

Even when gaming with graphics-intensive games on mobile data, the device heats up a bit, but not to the same extent on Wi-Fi. Aside from these high-pressure scenes, the combination of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, coupled with 12GB of RAM ensures a smooth experience.
Battery life is “good enough” but could be better. Even with the luscious 5,000mAh battery, you can get a full day of use but can’t extend beyond that with moderate to heavy usage. I also use the Galaxy Z Fold4, which is powered by a pure Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, where the performance and efficiency gains are obvious, but we’ll talk about that in the Fold review in the next few weeks.
Now that the 5G network is live in India, I was able to test it on Airtel as well, where I got download speeds close to 500Mbps and upload speeds of around 41Mbps. Battery life didn’t take a big hit with 5G and still managed to get a full work day’s worth of use.

Galaxy S21 Ultra 5g Price Drops Below $1,000 With New Amazon Deal
On paper, the camera hardware is the same as what we have on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but the upgraded Image Signal Processor (ISP) on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC brings some key changes. From detailed RAW photos to a new night mode that Samsung calls Nightgraphy, to improved HDR, there’s plenty of under-the-hood tricks unlocked by the Snapdragon SoC, AI and Samsung’s One UI. All these efforts made the smartphone achieve a score of 135 in the DXOMARK camera ranking. With the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, we expect the Qualcomm and Samsung partnership announced at the Snapdragon Tech Summit in November 2022 to bring more camera-centric innovations.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra does a great job of taking great daylight shots using the most basic settings with a basic 108MP camera. Focus is sharp, exposure is fine, and HDR works well even when capturing photos against the sun. Colors are a little saturated, but that’s fine because Samsung always pushes for punchy colors. Below are some daylight shots.
ISP from Snapdragon SoC provides better semantic segmentation. There are many other “industry first” flagship features that the SoC enables, and we’ve covered them in depth on our blog. We especially liked the HDR and skin tone mapping features when clicking against the sun. ISP and AI work together to deliver a balanced photo without overexposing the subject or blowing highlights into the background. Below are a few photos, one shot on the iPhone 14 Pro and the other on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
A larger sensor with more pixels and 9-to-1 pixel binning helps capture more light, resulting in well-lit images in low-light conditions. Default low-light photos look good in auto mode, but with low-light mode on, the AI does a better job. Below are some samples.

If you’re someone who likes to take control of your shooting, the default camera app has a Pro mode where you can manually adjust ISO, white balance and shutter speed based on the scene. But if that’s not enough, there’s also an Expert RAW mode where you get more control over exporting images in RAW format to edit and tweak all the adjustments using applications like Adobe Lightroom or other platforms. Below are some sample shots showing default mode photos and photos edited using Adobe Lightroom.
The telephoto camera sets the Galaxy S22 Ultra apart from the competition. With up to 10X optical zooming capabilities, you can get closer to the subject without losing quality. You also get 30X and 100X digital zoom. Photos shot at 30X zoom are still good for social media use, while 100X photos are good, but not always usable.

Videography is one area where Samsung could make significant improvements with the next Galaxy. It has all the bells and whistles like 8K 24fps, 4K 60fps video recording and more, but nowhere near the sensitivity and stabilization you get on iPhones.

From One UI 4.1, Samsung has also introduced some interesting features in the Gallery app and available when you edit photos. It includes object eraser where you can remove unwanted objects from your photos. There is also a portrait effect mode where you can add depth of field effect as well as background blur to your regular photos. Google has made these features available to Pixel users and Samsung is also offering similar features for its huge user base.

There are other modes in the camera app as well, a particularly interesting one called Single Take. It records a 5-15 second video clip and AI analyzes the clip to select the best moments in the form of photos. It adds filters and portrait mode and creates short video clips from a short clip like boomerang, dynamic slow motion and more. And the feature works well as expected. Samsung also includes a color-pop feature in portrait mode, which keeps the subject in color while the rest of the background is defocused and monochrome. This is one of our favorite features of portrait mode camera effects.
Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S22 series will get four major Android updates and five years of security updates, better than its competitors. But the speed of updates is more impressive. We are getting timely security updates every month and Android software update rollout is even faster.

The smartphone comes with Android 12 OS and One UI 4.1 skin. As soon as Google released the Android 13 source code, Samsung released the beta update and the final Android 13 with One UI 5 within two months. This shows how serious Samsung is about providing the latest software and security updates ahead of the competition.
Besides multi-tasking, one-hand mode and quick app shortcuts, Samsung offers a lot more with One UI 5 skin. First, its partnership with Microsoft allows tighter integration where you can save photos directly from Gallery to OneDrive. Notes saved in the Samsung Notes app can be synced with Microsoft OneNote. There’s also a link to a Windows feature supported by the Your Phone app that lets you receive and answer calls and texts on your Windows PC.
Samsung also offers a DeX mode, both wired and wireless, that has a desktop-like environment on your TV or monitor. Pair it with a wireless keyboard and mouse to use it as a computer, or you can even use the Galaxy S22 Ultra screen as a trackpad. This feature also gives you access to all the apps, videos and photos on your phone to cast on the big screen.
