The 10 Pro has been making headlines since its launch in China a few months ago, which has me intrigued. As a brand, OnePlus is going through a period of transition and I want to see if the new Pro can once again maintain the consistency we’ve come to expect from OnePlus flagships.
In India, the OnePlus 10 Pro is all set to take on its competition. The Samsung S22 series, Vivo X70 Pro, iQOO 8, Xiaomi Mi 12 line and Realme GT 2 Pro are all set to fight hard and woo customers in the premium segment. So, should you go for the OnePlus 10 Pro? Let’s take a look at this OnePlus 10 Pro.

The OnePlus 10 Pro ships in the typical tall, red OnePlus box. The packaging is sturdy and biodegradable, so OnePlus gets full marks for being eco-friendly. Even better, OnePlus isn’t trying to make a few extra bucks to reduce e-waste by removing the charging brick and phone case from the box.

OnePlus 10 Pro 5G price in India starts at Rs. 66, 999 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The flagship OnePlus 10 Pro comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It retails at Rs. 71, 999. The phone is available in Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest colors in India.
I have to admit something here. When I saw the first renders of the OnePlus 10 Pro, I was disappointed with the design choices. However, my opinion of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s aesthetics changed when I got a chance to see and experience it in person. The OnePlus 10 Pro looks wider, taller and sleeker than it really is. It doesn’t feel like a phone at 8.6mm thick and weighs 201g. Its outwardly curved sides help it stay slim and comfortable.
What sets the OnePlus 10 Pro apart from its contemporaries is its rear camera module, which is inspired by Samsung’s S-series flagships. The entire rear camera array blends seamlessly with the side bezel and back panel. The camera module has three sensors and an LED flash ring. Of these three cameras, the main and telephoto cameras are slightly higher than the camera island. Hasselblad branding is on the corner of the camera.

The unit that OnePlus loaned us is the Emerald Forest, which is basically green on the back. The glass back panel has a matte glass texture that looks great on the hand.
The glass front and back are joined by an aluminum frame with a matte anodized finish. The OnePlus classic notification slider can be found on the top right edge of Power. It’s a tall phone, so it’s not easy to reach the notification slider without adjusting your grip. You’ll find a bulky rocker sitting on the left edge. On the top edge of the OnePlus 10 Pro, there is a noise-canceling microphone and an earpiece for listening to calls. At the bottom is the speaker, charging port, primary microphone and SIM tray.
What about build quality you might ask? The phone has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 shield on the back and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, which is considered one of the best glass protections out there. Although this is good, a YouTuber did a camera bend test and split the phone in half. We didn’t push the phone to extremes during testing. Having said that, I’ve been using the OnePlus 10 Pro as my primary device for three weeks now and it’s been able to hold its own. As a warning, we advise you not to put the OnePlus 10 Pro in your back pocket or put excessive pressure on the phone.
The OnePlus 10 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen that can offer a maximum resolution of 3216×1440. While the resolution remains the same, OnePlus has improved it with the LTPO 2.0 panel, which drops from 120Hz to 1Hz.

The 10-bit panel used here has RGB and Display P3 colors, offering 100 percent color gamut. Interestingly, the OnePlus 10 Pro display is dual color calibrated at 500 nits and 100 nits for better accuracy. In real life, the OnePlus 10 Pro display is one of the best on the market.
I really enjoyed using the content on the OnePlus 10 Pro. The screen looks sharp, vibrant and clear. That’s right, OnePlus promises more color accuracy than the OnePlus 9 Pro. Education is also not an area of concern here. The display is bright enough and you can see or read text on the screen under sunlight.
While this is all great, there is one concern here, which is the dynamic refresh rate implementation. OnePlus 10 Pro screen can switch between 120Hz, 90Hz, 60Hz, 30Hz, 5Hz and 1Hz to save battery. The algorithms running on the 10 Pro are a bit more aggressive than usual, causing the screen to stutter when scrolling through multiple apps. Hopefully OnePlus will fix this soon.
The screen used here works with HDR 10 and HDR10+ and can deliver good visuals while watching movies and shows.

OnePlus OxygenOS is very well received among users. Most of us loved it until OnePlus decided to sync it with ColorOS. After the setback, the brand tried to course-correct, but it’s still a work in progress. OnePlus 10 Pro runs on Oxygen OS 12.1. The skin only comes with useful apps, so you won’t find browsing integrations or hot app stores or spam browsers.
OnePlus will continue to use features like its own font, its own wallpaper and shelf. The software also offers many customization options and options to choose between themes. In Oxygen OS12.1, you can change accent colors, fonts and more.
The new camera app is more similar to the OPPO app than the OnePlus camera app we used earlier. OnePlus has put in Zen Mode, (especially Airplane Mode) and HyperBoost Gaming to optimize games for the best experience.
When it comes down to it, the OnePlus 10 Pro is no slouch. Qualcomm Flagship 2022 – The phone is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The octa-core chipset follows a triple-cluster approach that uses 1x Cortex-X2 core (3.0 GHz) along with 3x Cortex-A710 cores (2.5) for high performance. GHz for performance and 4x Cortex-A510 cores (1.8 GHz) for energy efficiency. An Adreno 730 GPU handles the graphics.

Over the years, OnePlus flagships have been a preferred choice for gamers, especially for their thermal performance. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has a reputation for generating a lot of heat, so this year will be a challenge. In contrast, OnePlus used a twin method, first placing a specially designed vapor chamber, copper foil and copper carbon, to dissipate heat from the motherboard. Second, OnePlus has scaled it down a bit to avoid generating too much heat. It is produced with synthetic reference numbers. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s benchmark numbers are slightly lower than other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones.
Although the benchmarks are slightly lower than its competitors, it runs smoothly and manages heat dissipation well. On the OnePlus 10 Pro, we were able to run AAA titles without overheating more than other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones. No area to worry about. We tried using Adobe mobile apps for photo editing and that worked fine too. Overall, I’m happy with the performance the OnePlus 10 Pro delivers and it’s likely to hold up in the long run.
OnePlus 10 Pro cameras are not much different from OnePlus 9 Pro. The main 48MP Sony IMX789 sensor and 8MP OmniVision OV08A10 telephoto sensor are the same as used in the OnePlus 9 Pro. Then there’s the 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, which can cover a 150-degree field of view.
In terms of image quality, the 10 Pro offers 12-megapixel photos by default. In daylight, those images came out bright and vibrant with a wide dynamic range to work with. The camera is tuned to focus more on highlights and drop shadows to make images more contrasty.

Over the years, OnePlus has been improving when it comes to color dynamics. But there are still some flaws that need to be removed. AI visual optimization enhances colors to make images more attractive. To be fair, it succeeds for the most part, but it skews the white balance towards warmer tones and gets a bit yellow.
