The characters have been suggested for years, but in a special packaging based on the original series of Clone Wars games no less. It wouldn’t be the Clone Wars series without clone troopers, and what better time than the long overdue release of the Black Series Arc Trooper Echo. Originally designated CT-1409, Echo was a brave clone trooper who served with the 501st Regiment as part of the Advanced Recon Commandos. He was thought to have met his end during a mission to rescue Jedi Master Even Piell, however it was later revealed that he survived – he was turned into a cyborg by the Techo Alliance and used as a model by the Separatist forces. Echo came to the rescue, after turning a line of success with her cybernetic abilities to become the newest member of Clone Force 99 – The Bad Bunch.
Like the other figures in this special edition Arc Trooper Echo comes in some nostalgic Star Wars: The Clone Wars packaging – a black box sized like the original 2008 toy. surrounded by inside cards with name/artwork and Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary logo. Although I’m personally not a fan of packaging that can’t be opened without breaking it, it’s actually a great way to make these figures stand out and draw fans nostalgic for these old figures. It’s a shame that the rest of the packaging is actually visible – just Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary Star Wars poster on the back and an image of Echo from the series on the front card. The lack of a bio is really noticeable because it’s as important a part as the usual black wrapper, and Echo is a character who has a lot to say.
The Arc Trooper Echo uses the new black clone trooper series that was launched late last year, but sports a new set of Arc Trooper armor. It includes an additional chest and shoulder pad, new hand gloves, a skirt area with additional pockets, high heels and a large bag section. Like all clone troopers the body armor is molded in white plastic with black cloth parts, although there is a lot of light, gray and blue color added to make the Arc Trooper design really stand out. All of the paint applications are well used and sharp, and Hasbro obviously did everything they could to increase the $5 price tag on these figures even though the basic body isn’t new. The Echo includes a removable hood and a range of features, such as a body kit that sports a dry fit. Underneath this helmet is a sculpture of a human head – one of the first we’ve seen on a new clone body although they all have molded heads under their helmets. Since Temuera Morrison’s title is the next big Ford release that Hasbro had to get really good at, it’s interesting to say that the similarities here are pretty obvious. Overall, the Arc Trooper Echo is a great release – a clone that packs a little more punch than your average trooper.
Review: Star Wars Black Series Wrecker (mercenary Gear), The Bad Batch
While Clone Pilot Hawk was a curious person who received elements of the old body and a new one, Arc Trooper Echo on the other hand is straight for the new body. General characteristics;
Although it’s a shame to lose those elbows again, it’s good to see the butterfly joints back in place – giving the shoulders some much-needed extra flexibility makes elbow bends less likely. However, Echo’s problem isn’t so much the facial features as the Arc Trooper’s armor – or more importantly, whoever at Hasbro thought it was a good idea to give Echo a piece of clothing with a thin plastic skirt and a front strap. . in Whether it looks better than a soft product is a matter of opinion, but the problem here is that the soft plastic pushes back especially on the hips so you’re very limited in what the Echo can do in the hips. You can get some good action out of him, but it’s definitely more than you’d do with other clone troopers released. It’s a shame, but it’s clear that Hasbro didn’t want to release a figure that was too perfect.
While the Hawk was light on equipment, the Echo is well equipped – it comes with almost all the weapons we’ve seen clone troopers in the past. This includes the standard issue DC-15S long gun, DC-15A long gun and DC-17. If you’ve bought one of the Black Series clones Trooper has released in the past, all of this equipment will be more than familiar, but if this is your first Echo, then you have a large arsenal of weapons. . Each weapon was molded in black plastic with no paint to speak of, but most were molded to have the correct shape. Like all clone troopers, Echo’s right hand has a dedicated thumb that allows her to hold all three types of weapons, while her left hand is designed to hold the barrels of both guns. When not in use, hand grenades can be stored in holsters on either side of Echo’s belt.
BlackSeries Arc Trooper Echo is probably the best clone trooper we’ve ever seen in the Black Series. Amidst the stunning body shape, the nearly flawless head and the instrument cluster look great. However, Hasbro being Hasbro had to push it to the last hurdle, and what’s amazing about this figure is that the thin plastic skirt distorts the hips (and legs in general) in a way that’s hard to ignore. Arc Trooper Echo is also unlucky as its release comes at the same time as possible – Black Series collectors have been waiting for years for Arc Trooper, and now when Echo finally comes rolling with the Bad Pack it’s been revealed and fans are waiting for more. Echo version to complement the line of Clone Force 99. It goes without saying that the release of Arc Trooper Echo will continue the BadBatch version, but still.
