Update Samsung S21ultra Price Review – With the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the South Korean manufacturer has included the much-hyped S-Pen in a smartphone outside of the Galaxy Note series for the first time. Samsung didn’t include the S Pen with its review unit, and it’s not too hard to see why.
I started testing the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra over the weekend. It is the only model in Samsung’s latest flagship range to be compatible with the latest generation S Pen. Both Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ are not compatible with it. It’s also worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is compatible with the previous-generation S-Pen used on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Tab.

This backwards compatibility is a welcome step, as Samsung has strangely failed to send us the new S Pen that I’d like to include in our review. I hope you don’t get frustrated and close this tab! Aside from the size, the new S-Pen doesn’t offer anything more or new compared to the Galaxy Note 20 stylus we still have.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: Strong Overall Package Without Major Weaknesses
For this reason alone, I can briefly review the supported features of the next-generation S-Pen on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. All in all, I’d say this shows a serious lack of effort on Samsung’s part.
The brand new S-Pen is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and costs a staggering €39.90. If you want to give it a shot, there’s still a €79.90 bundle that comes with the basic silicone case. If you’re feeling a bit more generous, the final option would be the €99.90 package, which includes a Clear View case with a transparent opening through which you can see the current time and all incoming notifications.
Even though Samsung “offers” you a case and an S-Pen when you pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the stylus is still a completely optional accessory that needs to be purchased separately in most cases. So it’s not a selling point, and it doesn’t play a key role in the overall user experience like the Galaxy Note series would normally do.
In Samsung’s eyes, the new S-Pen is as redundant as the charger, as neither is a standard accessory for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. The smartphone doesn’t even have a dedicated pen slot, so using dedicated cases would be an essential part of the ownership experience if you want to jump on the pen wagon.

You should know my opinion on the current trend of selling optional chargers to protect the environment. As absurd and misleading as I find this marketing technique, which just reeks of greenwashing, some of the arguments behind it can absolutely make sense.
For example, most consumers have some sort of charger at home. In a way, this justifies the fact that the manufacturer no longer needs to add a new charger with each new smartphone. If we apply this logic to the S Pen, why doesn’t Samsung allow all the features of the old S Pen, which many of its customers already have in the Galaxy S21 series? ?
Also, using the S Pen on the Galaxy S21 Ultra is quite limited as Samsung doesn’t offer Bluetooth support on its latest stylus. Yes, you’ll have to wait for the S-Pen Pro to take advantage of Air Gestures.
It looks like you are trying to save the planet, am I the only one who thinks so? So why did Samsung limit the functionality of the S Pen to force you to buy a future model that offers nothing innovative compared to its predecessors? It’s not the smartest business move, period.

For this particular article, I used the S-Pen on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. They are identical in every way except the form factor where the latest generation S Pen has a larger form factor.
In terms of functionality, apart from the multifunction button on the side, the user has practically the same basic functions.
You can capture partial or full screenshots, highlight text, or preview web pages by hovering over hyperlinks.
You can also quickly create notes by tapping on the home and lock screens while holding down the S Pen button. OCR, or optical character recognition, still works pretty well. In fact, the ability to convert handwritten notes into PDF documents and quickly email them. by mail is an impressive feat.

A translation feature and a miniaturization feature that lets you switch to multi-window mode for multitasking purposes are also part of the package. As you can probably tell by now, it’s just a mix of basic features, minimal features that don’t add anything new considering the older generation S Pen. Worse, it doesn’t even have the other features of its predecessor.
For example, you don’t have access to air gestures at all, including gesture commands that allow you to scroll through slides or even activate the selfie camera by simply shaking the S Pen against the smartphone’s screen. Other features that allow you to use the S Pen button as a camera trigger or to zoom in and out have also been removed.

I am surprised that the S-Pen for the Samsung Galaxy S21 does not support functions via Bluetooth. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra ties these features even to the old S-Pen I used in this article. It seems like a conscious decision by Samsung to indirectly entice users to buy the upcoming S-Pen Pro, which offers exclusive Bluetooth features.
I’m not saying this is an unforgivable loss, but it does have a very negative impact on the user experience. Ironically, Samsung wants to be an eco-warrior by reducing its carbon footprint and “helping” customers make more informed purchasing decisions, but this new S Pen for the Galaxy S21 Ultra alone is a perfect example of an unintentional “commitment.” “A consumer buys a supplement at a very inflated price just to get the most out of it.”
If Samsung plans to replace the Samsung Galaxy Note with the Samsung Galaxy S range, the Galaxy S21 Ultra and its companion S Pen are a poor example of what’s to come. Try more Samsung!
