Update Samsung S21 Ultra Price On Amazon Review – The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a powerful beast of a smartphone that does it all.

Apex Predators stand out for several reasons. They are often characterized by sharp fangs or claws, aggressive behavior, and a stealthy approach to prey. Samsung, long one of the top dogs in the smartphone market, is taking a similar direction with its latest flagship, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The phone has a sharp design, an aggressive camera module, and hidden strength thanks to killer features. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra does not pretend to be anything other than what it is: an apex predator in the smartphone kingdom where it kills most of the competition.

After using the smartphone for almost a week and thinking about Samsung’s previous phones, it’s easy to see that the company has been on a journey. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 2020 was a solid first attempt. He set the plan for what was to follow, though he did not necessarily succeed himself. After that, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra made improvements on the S20 Ultra, although they didn’t go far enough. With the S21 Ultra, we finally see Samsung pick up the pace and deliver the phone that many have been waiting for.

Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: Refined Experience For Less Money

That doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Even the best predator in the world has flaws and weaknesses. While I agree with much of our first review (see below), I have some thoughts of my own. Here it is

Smartphone design has been homogenized over the years, particularly in the premium space. You often find a large metal and glass plate with an important camera module on the back and a different display on the front. The same goes for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The phone is massive, but not as massive as the S20 Ultra – and that’s all that matters. The S20 Ultra was a bit too big. Samsung brought the screen size to ten inches and this allowed it to shrink the footprint of the new phone by 2mm in height and fraction in width. This small measure is a big deal. The reduction in size, while minor, makes a world of difference in use. Samsung could not get away with adding some weight, however, and the S21 Ultra is noticeably heavier than the S20 Ultra by more than half a pound (229g).

Some will surely complain about Samsung’s pivot away from microSD card support, but otherwise the Galaxy S21 Ultra builds on and improves upon the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s design in all the right ways.

Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5g Review: Business As Usual For Samsung

The materials are top-notch. The phone has a solid metal frame surrounding the device and two glass panels surrounding the aluminum. Samsung went with the matte finish this year and I appreciate that. The glossy look for last year’s S20 Ultra was a bit much. The clean look of matte surfaces is attractive and the black of our unit is particularly stealthy.

There is no escape from the camera module. Last year, the module was a tacked-on platform that just looked terrible. No less big, but at least the S21 Ultra’s camera module doesn’t look like a rear. Samsung has extended the middle frame up and around the camera module, protecting it with metal. I like that Samsung has integrated the design a little more than it did on the old phones.

As for the rest of the design, it is functional in the way a ship should be. The most. Some are sure to complain about Samsung’s pivot away from microSD card support. We certainly listen. Samsung has offered microSD slots on its phones as a point of differentiation. This year, there is no place. But I think we have to accept it and move on. Most flagships these days don’t include memory card support and Samsung offers 256GB for just $50 more than the base price. This is more than enough storage for most people.

You get everything else: waterproof design, fast USB-C, stereo speakers, and more. I just wish there were more colors available than just black, navy, and brown.

Samsung is one of the best display producers in the world, and this is evident (again) on the company’s flagship products. The 6.8 inch screen is a joy to use and look at. It is the only screen in the S21 family that offers a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 and many pixels. Other S21 phones have Full HD+ screens. Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology is unmatched at this point and provides excellent color, brightness and contrast. Let’s not forget about the super-fast refresh rate of 120Hz. You also have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection.

I agree with our original review as the limitations of the 120Hz display are frustrating. You can set the screen to a consistent 60Hz regardless of resolution, but the 120Hz is only available in adaptive mode. This means that it changes depending on the activity. For example, it will go down to 10Hz if you’re just looking at the home screen and then go up to 120Hz when you’re playing. I wish you could force it to 120Hz all the time, but I find that Samsung limits this to its potential hit in battery life.

I watched several episodes of The Mandalorian, The Expanse, and WandaVision on the phone and was impressed with the visuals. The S21 Ultra really knows how to handle video content. I was really impressed with the way he handled The Expanse, which is a dark show full of shadows and contrasts.

While Samsung hits the screen out of the park, I think it ruins the other half of the cinema experience: the sound. The stereo speakers are certainly loud enough. No complaints there. I disagree with David’s assessment that the sound is clear. In fact, I thought the speakers were pretty blown away. This really affects my appreciation of the device as an entertainment platform, because it forces me to wear Bluetooth headphones for better sound. I often like to watch videos casually without headphones. It works well, but the iPhone 12 Pro Max sounds better.

Galaxy S21 Ultra 5g Review: Samsung’s Best S Series For $200 Less Than Last Year’s Model

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra packs a lot of power and endurance. Our review highlights the prowess of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which beats every other Android phone on the market (for now). Qualcomm’s first chip will surely make its way into a large number of flagships over the next year, so expect to see the competition heat up between the phones as time goes on.

Practically speaking, the S21 Ultra has more than enough processing punch to tackle any task you can throw at it. Games like Asphalt 9 and Fortnite did not tax the phone at all. I was able to multitask with ease, and the operation of multiple windows does not seem to disturb the phone thanks to the generous help of RAM.

The 5,000mAh battery, too, takes care of a lot of punishment. For a phone with such a large screen and such a powerful processor, Samsung was able to adjust its power algorithm enough for a full day’s use and then some. The phone never struggled with battery life, at least as far as single-day usage was concerned. I ended up most days with at least 40% in the tank, if not more. This includes many games, YouTube, social networks, and camera use. Bottom line: I’ve often seen a day and a half to two days of battery life with the phone. That’s solid.

If you’re upgrading from a phone that’s several years old, you may have to run out and buy a brick. Blah, Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Is Here: Polished, And At A Lower Price

As always, you can upgrade the phone to get more out of the battery. These include dialing the resolution up or down, changing the refresh rate, keeping the brightness under control, managing background tasks, and more.

The only complaint I have is the charging situation. Sure, Apple ditched the charger first, but that doesn’t mean Samsung had to follow suit. There is no charger in the box, you will have to rely on an old brick (air) lying around. Perhaps worse, the supplied cable is USB-C to USB-C. If you’re upgrading from a phone that’s several years old, the brick you have is likely USB-A. This means you may have to run out and buy a brick. Blah, Samsung.

Then there is 5G. All of Samsung’s modern flagships have 5G, as have some of its mid-range phones. 5G is considered essential for a top-end phone. I tested the phone briefly on Verizon’s 5G mid-band and was not impressed. This is not the fault of the S21 Ultra 5G. Verizon’s mid-spectrum, which is what’s available where I live, is not the same as its mmWave 5G. Most people who buy the S21 Ultra 5G will only see mid-band service, which is only about as good as 4G LTE service right now. In other words, don’t get too excited about 5G just yet. Verizon’s mmWave will become more available over time, though mostly in urban centers.

Samsung wants its cameras to be among the best in the world, and it takes a step in the right direction with the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Last year’s S20 Ultra was a bit of a mess, and
