This year, the Galaxy S21 series came out earlier than expected and brought many changes with it. The Galaxy S21 and S21+ now have worse-performing OLEDs, no microSD expansion, and no chargers included. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is what the original Ultra should have been—packed with high-end features, no asterisks, no fine print. However, still no charger.

The original S20 Ultra was supposed to be the biggest Galaxy yet, but it didn’t quite make it. You can enjoy a 120Hz refresh rate, but only at a lower resolution of 1080p. The telephoto camera was advertised as 5x, but it was actually 4x, and let’s not even get started on the space zoom. The ultrawide camera has a large sensor, but it cannot take macro shots due to the lack of autofocus. The battery was great, but the battery life was poor. You understand what is important.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra Is Samsung’s Latest Truly Premium Device With A Price To Match
Well, the Galaxy S21 Ultra makes up for that. It has a large 1440p screen with native 120Hz support, and it’s adaptive at that. It also comes with two dedicated telephoto lenses – one for 3x and one for 10x optical zoom. The ultra-wide-angle camera has an autofocus that is suitable for macro shots. The new Ultra also offers ultra-wide support and, surprisingly, S-Pen support. This has to be the first unassuming Galaxy phone to offer this – one for the history books.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra does not have an S-Pen socket and no included stylus. However, you can use any S-Pen in circulation, as well as the newly announced S-Pen for S21 Ultra and the upcoming S-Pen Pro. Samsung has also opened up the S Pen to third-party companies that make Wacom-based pens, so you can expect even more options in the coming months. Finally, you can keep the pen in your pocket or opt for some S21 Ultra cases with dedicated pen holders.
Unlike the previous generation, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only S21 model with a 1440p OLED screen. Even better, it now supports 120Hz at that high resolution, so you don’t have to choose between high results and a high refresh rate. Like the Note20 Ultra, the new Ultra screen supports an adaptive refresh rate that can vary between 10 Hz and 120 Hz.
The latest Galaxy, of course, has the latest chipset. All international models use Samsung’s new Exynos 2100 SoC (like the one we’re reviewing), while the US and China will get devices with the Snapdragon 888 instead. The RAM has been increased to 12 GB, and there is also a limited 16 GB model.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: A Total Luxury
The device has received a welcome upgrade. The wide-angle cameras remain relatively the same – a 108-megapixel camera with f/1.8-26mm lens and a 12-megapixel camera with f/2.2-13mm optics, but now with autofocus. However, the zoom system has been completely redesigned – it now features two 10MP imagers, one for 3x optical zoom and another for 10x optical zoom through a 240mm periscope lens.
Other flagship tidbits worth noting include a 40MP selfie eye with AF, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6e, 5G connectivity, Ultraband support for short-range communications, fast wired and wireless charging for the large 5,000mAh battery .
This year has not got off to a good start for fans of the lavish retail packages. Like Apple and Xiaomi, Samsung has removed the chargers and earphones from the retail boxes and ships each Galaxy S21 with just one cable.
The Note10 got rid of the 3.5mm jack and now the Galaxy S21 ditches the microSD slot. Samsung makes up for this with a slight price difference between the 128GB and 256GB models – just €50. It is up to you to decide whether the compensation is sufficient.

Well, well, now, how has the tide turned?! It was just last October when Samsung poked fun at Apple for not including chargers with the latest iPhones. And just two months later, Samsung was caught priming the internet rumor mill for the launch of its own chargerless flagship.
This isn’t the first time Samsung has done this, is it? We still remember audio jack makers disappearing overnight, heralding the jackless Galaxy Note 10.
This makes the Galaxy S21 Ultra the first Samsung phone without a charger and headphones. The manufacturer joins Apple and Xiaomi in the quest to make the planet cleaner, and that should ultimately have a positive impact. It only requires a small sacrifice from you as a user: you have to buy a USB-C charger if you don’t have one and keep it for a long time.
Galaxy S21 pre-orders include various freebies like a 25W charger, Galaxy Buds and even a SmartTag, so you won’t run out of choices. Samsung has switched to USB-C chargers since the Note10 and S20 generations, so the chance of having one isn’t that great, and it’s good that you can get it for free now.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review Revisited: This Year’s Galaxy Note

Stop being stupid If you promote other brands, it does not mean that you should spoil others. Samsung is years ahead of other Android manufacturers. iPhone cup with 30 V, you didn’t complain about that. But I always complain about Samsung. All of which won’t convince you… The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a powerful beast of a smartphone that can do it all.
Apex predators excel for a variety of reasons. They are often characterized by sharp fangs or claws, aggressive behavior, and a stealthy approach to their prey. Samsung, long one of the top dogs in the smartphone market, is following a similar path with its latest flagship, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The phone has a sharp design, an aggressive camera module and a hidden strength thanks to the excellent specifications. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: a top predator in the smartphone kingdom, where it outperforms much of the competition.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5g Review
After using the smartphone for almost a week and reflecting on the previous Samsung phones, it’s easy to see that the company is on a journey. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 2020 was a solid first attempt. It lays out the plan for what will follow, even if it doesn’t necessarily succeed. Later, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra improved the design of the S20 Ultra, although not quite far enough. With the S21 Ultra we finally see Samsung making its breakthrough and delivering the phone that many have been hoping for.
That doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Even the best predators in the world have flaws and weaknesses. While I agree with much of our initial review (see below), I have a few thoughts of my own. Here it is
Smartphone design has become more unified over the years, especially at the premium end. You often get a large metal and glass slab with a large camera module on the back and a separate display on the front. The same applies to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The phone is huge, but not as massive as the S20 Ultra – and that’s all that matters. The S20 Ultra was a bit too big. Samsung has shrunk the screen size to a tenth of an inch, reducing the new phone’s footprint by 2mm in height and slightly in width. The small dimensions are a big deal. While the size reduction is minor, it makes a big difference in usability. Samsung can’t escape the extra weight, and the S21 Ultra is significantly heavier than the S20 Ultra at over half a pound (229g).

Some will certainly complain about Samsung’s move away from microSD card support, but other than that, the Galaxy S21 Ultra builds on the design of the Galaxy S20 Ultra and improves on it in just the right ways.
The materials are top notch. The phone features a sturdy metal frame that surrounds the device and two panes of glass that sandwich the aluminum. Samsung has opted for matte finishes this year and I appreciate that. The shiny look of last year’s 20 Ultra was a bit over the top. The clear look of the matte surfaces is pleasing and the black of our camera looks particularly subtle.
There is no way around the camera module. Last year the module was a bolted on platform that just looked awful. It’s no less huge, but at least the S21 Ultra’s camera module doesn’t look like an afterthought. Samsung extended the midframe up and around the camera module, protecting it with metal. I like that Samsung has simply integrated the design
