Let’s start with the camera first, because that big protrusion is the first thing you’ll notice when you hold the Note 20 Ultra in your hand.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra comes with the same 108MP main camera as last seen on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Fortunately, they learned a valuable lesson with the S20 Ultra’s “100x” zoom. You also get all the bells and whistles we’ve seen in the S20 Ultra, such as Single Capture, Pro Video Mode, 8K video recording, Super Stabilization locked at Full HD, slow motion 960 fps, etc. The S-Pen also allows you to shoot remotely as well as navigate through the camera library with swipe and button gestures. For example, when taking a group selfie, you can focus on framing and can ask your friends to use the S-Pen button as a remote trigger to click the photo.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Review: The Pros And Cons
It won’t take me long to shoot in daylight on the Note 20 Ultra as there are hardly any problems. The main camera produces detailed images, with pristine sharpness in the center and around the edges. Color reproduction is quite good, although the image has a bit of high contrast. The 5x optical zoom is good, and the “50x Super Resolution Zoom” is also much more useful than the “100x Spatial Zoom” we saw on the S20 Ultra. It’s still noisy during the day, but framing the subject isn’t up to the task. One thing worth noting is the slight shutter lag.
The ability to take low-light photos on the Note 20 Ultra is very impressive. Yes, the Note 20 Ultra, like the S20 Ultra, tends to overexpose scenes, which sometimes looks a bit unrealistic. However, this is something that may be fixed in future app updates. There is a dedicated Night mode that can extract details even from dark areas, but please do not use this mode in well-lit scenes, as you may end up seeing colors that you don’t. seen in that scene. In some low-light shots, you’ll notice a change in color temperature.
When it comes to selfies, I’ve read online that the Note 20 Ultra illuminates the face unnecessarily. I found this to be true in some cases, although I didn’t notice any overly smooth facial textures. But when light levels decrease, noise reduction algorithms tend to do that. When shooting in a room under fluorescent lights, I noticed that the camera sensor tended to smooth out facial textures in group shots. On the video camera front, you get 4K recording at 30 and 60 FPS, but only on the main camera. Turn on SuperSteady mode to get stutter-free footage and the video resolution drops to Full HD, which is annoying on flagship phones. The Apple iPhone has delivered 4K at 60 FPS with excellent image stabilization since the iPhone X – a phone two generations old. This factor alone has given the iPhone 11 series a huge advantage over the Note 20 Ultra. Full HD footage is very good, and I noticed relatively less focus hunting than the S20 Ultra when panning. I really like the Live Focus video mode on the Note 20 Ultra because it blurs the background nicely when taking photos and works on both the rear and front cameras.

The SuperSteady mode produces really good stabilized shots. Video quality is among the best on Android smartphones. Just like the S20 Ultra, when the brightness drops, the image becomes softer and focuses on the hunt. You also get the Note 20 Ultra’s 8K 24p recording, which is a good marketing move, but you’ll need to place the phone on a tripod to get stutter-free 8K photos. Also, 8K video drops a lot, so you have to take that into account when recording. If you’re creating content for YouTube or social media, you also have the option of adding a USB or Bluetooth microphone for crystal clear audio.

The Samsung Galaxy Note series has always been known for its large screens, but this year, the Galaxy S20 Ultra itself came with a 6.9-inch display. The back of the Note 20 Ultra is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus, the latest generation of the popular durable glass, which Corning claims is the hardest glass available for smartphones. It was also the first device to use it. The frosted glass matte finish on the back makes the Note 20 Ultra a bit less slippery, which is a relief. It is fingerprint resistant and looks very classy.

The Note 20 Ultra’s camera module protrudes quite a bit, like we’ve seen on the S20 Ultra. As a result, dust tends to accumulate around the sharp edges of the module. It houses three cameras, a laser autofocus element, and a two-tone flash. This module is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and is the only shiny component on the back. Placing the phone on its back causes the phone to lie on its side. Samsung didn’t provide any clear carrying case for the Note 20 Ultra, so that’s something you might have to buy extra for. When the phone is in vibrate mode, when placed on a hard surface like a glass table top, the phone emits a terrible sound that makes them prefer the notification sound.

It has a metal frame that wraps around the edges, and its glossy finish means that smudges tend to build up on them. The top and bottom edges are flat. Side curves – front and back.
