This year, Android 13’s internal features are few and far between, with most of the focus being on the visual side of Android’s material design. And because they don’t conform to Samsung’s own idea of what Android should look like, it gives us improvements focused on privacy and notifications.
When you install the app and launch it for the first time, the system will ask if you want the app to send you notifications or have them disabled by default. Overall, we like what One UI 5.0 has to offer. It’s a significant improvement over 4.0 in many respects, especially performance, which we feel is still the main weakness of Samsung’s custom Android overlay. The long changelog is also surprising considering how many of Samsung’s competitors have become complacent and are rolling out some boring big updates this year.
However, Samsung was careful to make changes so as not to completely change the overall feel of One UI. It’s still familiar, but better visually and functionally than ever before.
