So, if you are photographing flowers, for example, greens can turn green and roses red. The photos are warm, which means you won’t be able to capture natural white tones. In general, I found the photos taken in daylight to be no different and the quality compared to the Redmi Note 8 Pro in this category.
The main camera is able to focus on a subject quickly in daylight, but it gets a little iffy as the sun goes down. By default, the main camera shoots at 16MP and uses pixel binning to deliver bright and clear photos. You can manually change the aspect ratio to 3:4 64MP to take higher quality photos. However, 64MP photos look dark, lack HDR support, and should only be used in daylight if you want to capture a wide landscape to zoom in later.

Moving on from the main camera, the Samsung Galaxy M31’s 8MP wide-angle shooter manages to take nice wide-angle shots in daylight. Colors look great and there’s a lot of detail as long as you don’t zoom in and pixel-peep. Portrait mode using live focus mode can please take some bokeh shots since the blur effect is not extreme. Color tones look warm and soft, but fine details can be seen.
Finally, we have a 5MP macro camera that can get 3cm closer to the subject. Again, best used in daylight, the macro camera allows you to take some creative close-up shots. Macros can be clear and detailed as long as the subject is there. However, the colors seem muted and washed out compared to the natural bokeh you can capture using the main camera.
The Galaxy M31 is ideal for recording videos. Both front and rear cameras can record UHD videos. The main camera also supports Super Stabilization mode, which does a good job of keeping the video jitter free when recording handheld.
Samsung has upgraded the front-facing camera from 16MP to 32MP, which means selfies come out brighter on the Galaxy M31. It is true and the selfie camera captures good details on clothes and hair, brightening the eyes even with disabled beauty mode. The front camera also supports live focus, which allows you to adjust the bokeh intensity in real time. The higher the bokeh effect, the more blurred the subject looks.

The Exynos 9611 is a good mid-range processor that can handle everyday tasks with ease. You can also run multiplayer games like PUBG by default at high graphics and frame rate settings. We played a 30-minute session of PUBG on default settings, which ran smoothly. At higher graphics settings, we noticed that the phone gets hot to the touch during gameplay. It doesn’t affect the phone’s battery life, however, a 30-minute session drains the battery by about 5 percent, which is impressive.

Talking about One UI 2.0 software based on Android 10, it is very easy and intuitive to use. In fact, the Galaxy M31 ships with Core UI instead of UI, which means some features like Bixby and Bixby Home are missing. You won’t even be able to download Samsung Pay from the Play Store.
