Update Samsung M31 Price 6 128gb Review – Samsung launched its new M series phones in Nepal a few weeks ago. Among them is the Samsung M31 as an update of the Samsung M30 and M30s.

I have been using this device for more than 3 weeks and I have already given my early impressions about this device. Watch it first if you want. This is a follow-up to my early impression and includes a detailed review of the M31.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 uses a plastic body and has a glossy finish on the back. The front has an AMOLED display with a water drop.

The plastic construction is made with a finish that looks like glass, but it certainly doesn’t look like it.

The back panel of this particular review unit has received some scratches during my use, but this is only noticeable upon close inspection. So I suggest you use a case.

The back has a quad-camera setup with a rectangular camera module along with an oval-shaped fingerprint sensor. The sides curve into the frame and the edges are also curved.

At the front, the side bezels are thin, but the chin is still prominent. The buttons are on the right side, while there is a tray for two sims and a micro-sd.

At the bottom we have the headphone jack, the USB Type-C port, the microphone and the speaker. However, there is another microphone on top. Also, the earpiece is neatly tucked right on top of the notch.

Although the plastic build doesn’t feel premium. It looks strong and sturdy. But it is prone to scratches. So I would have liked glass on the back, which we see on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Ergonomically, I like how it fits in the hand. It is not slippery and I can use it in my hand. But it is not at all easy to use with one hand. You have to get used to it.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 features a 6.4-inch 1080×2340 (FHD+) AMOLED display. It’s a 60 Hz panel with deep blacks and impressive color reproduction.

Based on my first impression, everything remains the same. The color is vivid and the contrast ratio is high. It’s great for YouTube, Netflix and gaming.

The display is impressive for media consumption. But it is not so bright in strong sunlight. If you want to take photos or watch content in strong sunlight, it’s a bit tricky.

Always on screen as usual. You can customize it to a level. You can also choose different color modes for display. If you like a more natural tone, you can choose Natural mode or use Vivid mode. You can also adjust the warmth and change the color temperature to colorful or warm.

To be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of big megapixel sensors. I mean, it’s great and all for capturing high detail, but I don’t find it useful. After all, the photos taken by our smartphones only end up on social networks.

So, with the Samsung Galaxy M31 we get a 64 MP main sensor with a pixel size of 0.8 µm. It’s a fairly large sensor that helps the sensor pick up more light. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M31 takes beautiful photos. But in typical Samsung fashion, it still retains a similar camera treatment to other mid-range Samsung phones.

The Samsung Galaxy M31’s 16 MP focused images come out very sharp and the image processing promotes high contrast and saturation. The white balance you choose may not be the most accurate and tends to pick what brings out the colors in the scene.

The lowest ISO on the images is 20, so its HDR is quite admirable. It is able to preserve detail in darker areas without blowing out lighter areas. I like the brightness of the stacked images, it’s a bit brighter than normal but helps the image stand out.

Moving on to its 64MP images, they definitely have more detail. When you look at the images side by side, it’s clear that the 48 MP images have more detail. However, images look flatter than 16MP boxed images, color is dull and more natural. And it doesn’t sharpen the image as much as it does with 16MP images. Also, the 48MP images have a lower ISO of 40, and I think this is to compensate for the lack of HDR.

To be honest, I prefer embedded 16MP images as they stand out in color and contrast. Also, 16MP images have greater dynamic range and better exposure.

However, it comes down to personal preference, and if you want to change anything in post-processing, you may want to use 48 MP images. But most of us won’t bother with that, so it’s best to stick with 16MP images for the most part.

So how is night mode? Well, that’s good. The first thing you should notice is that normal low-light photos lack good detail and are noisy. If taken late at night, images may also appear out of focus. But night mode helps in this case. This reduces noise and makes the image more attractive.

Images taken in night mode are sharper and have better exposure. But still, the M31’s low-light images aren’t that good. However, I would recommend using night mode more often. Ultra wide angle goodness

Samsung Galaxy M31s Review: Impressive In Every Respect Except Performance

For the ultra-wide camera, the M31’s 8MP sensor is the same as the M30’s 8MP sensor. While I would have liked a 12MP sensor, this 8MP sensor is quite good in daylight. Ultra-wide images retain the same color profile as the main high-contrast sensor.

Images look quite sharp, but there is a slight noise around the edges. It also doesn’t perform as well in the dark as the main sensor. But this happens in all phones.

Now, when it comes to portrait photos, I’m impressed. Well, I don’t have many samples since I haven’t met many people due to the pandemic. But I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

The depth effect doesn’t look artificial, and that’s what I tend to pay more attention to in portrait shots. Edge detection is pretty good going forward, but it’s certainly not perfect. It cut some of my hair, but it kept the glasses pretty well. I am very pleased with the results.

Last but not least, it also has a 5MP macro sensor, and it’s a good one. With phones in this category other than the M31, you mostly get 2MP macro sensors, so the extra detail makes the photos more attractive. But the color profile is different from the main sensor, it is dull and does not look vivid. Check out the samples below!

Now for the front camera, I love it. The 32MP sensor takes good photos with nice contrast. Details are also good and HDR works really well. Your selfies will not be removed even when there is a lot of light in the background.

Now, live focus selfies are not so good. Edge detection is not very good. It was very difficult with my hair. And the blur effect looks artificial too. But I liked how the HDR was still able to keep the highlights under control.

The Samsung M31 supports 4K video recording, but even for 1080p there is no 60fps option. 4K videos are sharp and have good detail, but with 4K you lose digital stabilization, resulting in shaky videos. Stabilization improves significantly when you lower the resolution to 1080p, but you lose small details at 1080p.

The digital stabilization isn’t that impressive, you’ll see some distortion as it tries to stabilize the photo. Now, it has a super stable 1080p feature, but it actually captures video from the wide-angle camera and crops it a bit to give you stabilized videos.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 has the same chipset as the Samsung M30s; Exynos 9611. But there is an option for a larger 8GB RAM as it comes in two configurations: 6/128GB and 8/128GB.

The Exynos 9611 is a great chip, but not the best in its price range, as I mentioned in my initial impression. It is manufactured in a 10 nm process and has an octa-core processor (4×2.3GHz Cortex-A73 and 4×1.7GHz Cortex-A53) with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.

After my initial impression, I ran some benchmarks and played more games to test its real-world performance. First, let’s look at the standards.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Megastar In The Budget Category

Starting with GeekBench, the CPU benchmark. The Exynos 9611 in the M31 performs quite well with a single-core score of 347 and a multi-core score of 1288. We compared it to the Snapdragon 720G (Redmi Note 9 Pro), Snapdragon 665 (Realme 5i) and Snapdragon 675 (Redmi Note 7 Pro).

By this benchmark, the Samsung M31 Exynos 9611 is between the Snapdragon 665 and 675 in terms of performance. However, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is way ahead.

We used 3D Mark Slingshot Extreme for GPU testing. We compared
