The latest update for the Galaxy M31 has the build number M315FXXU2ATJ9. Samsung is currently only rolling it out in India, but other countries should start receiving the update soon. India’s choice is clear – the Galaxy M31 is very popular there. In fact, this is one of the most successful Samsung smartphones in India recently.

One UI 2.5 is a marked step up from the previous version of One UI. The firmware adds several new features and changes, such as a new feature for Samsung’s original keyboard: support for a separate keyboard in perspective. Additionally, the Messages app has the ability to automatically send SOS messages with your location.

The changelog also mentions camera improvements. The update allows Galaxy M31 owners to use Android 10 navigation gestures on third-party launchers. Meanwhile, the November 2020 security patch that comes with the One UI 2.5 firmware update addresses several vulnerabilities affecting Android and Samsung’s proprietary software.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of the end of February, Samsung officially released the Galaxy M31 smartphone, and here is a reminder of the specifications:

The Samsung Galaxy M31 comes in Ocean Blue and Space Black colors, costs $202 for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version and the 128GB storage version costs $216.

One part of the price that meets our Indian needs is the budget segment. The icing on the cake is when these ultra-affordable devices come with advanced features, ending our envy of high-end devices in the mobile world. Samsung, like Xiaomi, Realme, is trying to do the same and has released a new smartphone in the budget Galaxy M series called the Samsung Galaxy M31.

Galaxy M31 is the successor of Galaxy M30s and aims to give us a good mobile experience with all the outstanding features that come with it. But is it a worthy upgrade to the Galaxy M30s and a tough contender in the budget ring? Read my review to find out.

Galaxy M51 Vs Galaxy M31s: What Samsung Phone Is Better?

The Samsung Galaxy M31 is designed to be classy and simple when it comes to smartphones. There is not much going on, but whatever is on our plate is still attractive. When I first held the Galaxy M31, it seemed like a lot. But when I got used to it in my hand, I knew it was light. Made of polycarbonate, the device comes in two colors: Ocean Blue and Space Black. I kept the black color and I like the classic black tone of the device, which can never go wrong with a phone regardless of black color. Although the smartphone does not have a glass back, it does not come last in the design race and offers an elegant, inexpensive and strong design.

By design, the Galaxy M31 has a rectangular camera module on the back in the upper left corner. The camera includes a triple camera sensor and an LED flash. There is a fingerprint scanner in the middle, followed by the Samsung logo at the bottom. On the front, there is a water drop notch at the top and fewer bezels. The chin has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port and a speaker grill (from left to right). The head is empty. The left side of the phone is home to the SIM slot and the left side houses the volume rocker and power button. Talking about the volume button, it is placed very high and not easy to reach like in other phones.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 isn’t a pretty phone and it doesn’t bring anything new. But it has a decent look and I give it high marks for its simplicity.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 has a 6.4-inch Full HD + Super AMOLED screen, which is known as Infinity-U. The name comes from the presence of water drops. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is a bit disappointing. The phone has several display features, which is usually the case with all Samsung phones. It has adaptive brightness, blue light filter, dark mode, option between clear and natural screen colors, always on screen, accidental touch protection, touch sensitivity and more. Although all the screen features appear to be useful, the accidental touch protection does not provide protection as the device is easily accessible.

The screen experience is more than decent, and this is the area where Samsung fails. For a budget smartphone, you get a great screen to use. The screen is neither large nor small and is very clear. The Infinity-U screen ensures the right screen size for ease of use and video playback. Whether it’s on YouTube or Netflix or any other streaming service for that matter, it’s good to watch your content. The smartphone has pleased a person who is more concerned with watching Netflix on TV (Amazon Fire Stick is an advantage here), and this is the good side of the Galaxy M31.

Starting with the camera, the Galaxy M31 has a quad-camera setup at the back. There is a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro camera. We get a 32 MP front camera. The smartphone supports multiple cameras such as 4K video recording, Super slow motion, Super Steady mode, LED flash, HDR mode, Night mode, among others.

The one word I would give the Galaxy M31’s camera is decent. The camera works well in all light conditions, and that’s a plus. The bad point is the yellow image of the interior scene (with zooming of course). More often than not, we get detailed pictures, and the results are not overly processed either. But they represent the color of oversaturation. The ultra-wide camera is very decent, on par with all other Samsung phones, and the HDR mode also works well. However, the macro lens is quite sensitive and doesn’t capture as much detail as I would hope. Among other things, the night mode works well, but not bright and the Live Focus works well, but moves like a macro lens.

The 32MP front camera is pretty decent. Refinement is less and details are emphasized. But in this case, the image goes to a warmer tone, and it’s a bit blurry. The video department is doing well; The Super Steady mode provides the stability it claims to provide, the 4K video is also good (records 360 frames per second) and the slow motion is above average.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Massive 6000mah Battery, Upgraded Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M31 has the company’s Exynos 9611 processor, along with 6 GB of RAM. The phone gets two types of internal storage: 64GB and 128GB, of which I got the latter. The storage can be expanded using a memory card up to 512 GB. The smartphone acts as a decent daily driver. I’m a “basic smartphone user” person and don’t embrace a whole device. So, the Galaxy M31 did more than deserve it for me. From using social media to uploading videos to playback
