At 159.2 x 75.1 x 8.9mm and 191g, the Galaxy M31 is quite a heavy phone by modern standards. Lately I’ve gotten so used to the light weight of the Pixel 3a XL that the M31 feels huge in comparison. But that extra weight creates a heavy feel, and you’ll find that this is still a solid product, even if it’s in the affordable price range.

But as soon as you flip the phone over, things start to feel a little different. For starters, the M31’s plastic back picks up fingerprints easily, and the sleek chassis itself isn’t very grippy. Unless you’re absolutely sure you’ll never drop your phone, we recommend buying a case for safety.
