The Samsung Galaxy M31 will be launched in India on February 25 as the latest Galaxy M series smartphone. It will be the successor to the Galaxy M30 and Galaxy M30s, budget smartphones that offer great value. The Galaxy M31 announced by Samsung on its website will go on sale from February 25. The company calls it the “MegaMonster” for its camera, display and battery life, which we’ll get to shortly. So, let’s wrap up all the facts and rumors about the Galaxy M31.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy M31 on February 25 at 1:00 PM IST. It will be available on both Amazon and the Samsung store. It is not known whether Samsung will hold a launch event for the Galaxy M31.

A recent report claimed that the price of Samsung Galaxy M31 in India will start from Rs. $15,999 for the base model with 6GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage, while the price of the second variant with 6GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage is unknown. The price is in line with other “Galaxy M” phone series. Equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the base model of the Galaxy M30 is priced at Rs. 9,649, while the base model of the Galaxy M30s with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is available for Rs. 12,999.
More information about the Galaxy M31 will be confirmed as we get closer to the launch date, but for now, all we know is that it will have a fourth camera setup on the back with a primary camera with a resolution of 64 megapixels. It will have a full HD + Super-AMOLED Infinity-U display and a large 6000 mAh battery. The battery capacity is more than the Galaxy M30 with a capacity of 5000 mAh, but the same as the Galaxy M30s.
Previous rumors suggest that the Galaxy M31 will be powered by the Exynos 9611 SoC and will ship with Android 10 and Samsung’s One UI 2.0 out of the box. Speculations suggest that there will be several models including 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB variants. The screen size for the Galaxy M31 is expected to be 6.4 inches and it may be equipped with 15W fast charging support.

They followed the M30 with the Samsung M30s and it was better than the M30. This was one of our favorite mid-range phones of 2019. Now, Samsung is stepping up its game again with the latest Samsung M31.

The Samsung M31 continues to use the same design and construction as the older M30s. It also has the same processor as the M30s with the Exynos 9611. However, it has improved the camera sensor as it uses the new 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy M31 is no different from its predecessor when it comes to looks. It is very similar to the Samsung M30s.
The back is made of plastic that looks like glass. I took a lot of care of it as it was prone to scratches and stains. I like the dark blue color, it’s bright and doesn’t stand out. The rectangular camera module is still here like the M30s, but it has an additional sensor. There are a total of 4 sensors surrounded by an oval-shaped fingerprint sensor.
The Samsung M31 has a single speaker at the bottom. I haven’t used the phone long enough to comment on its quality, but it’s certainly high enough.

Speaking of audio, we get a 3.5mm headphone jack next to the Type-C port for charging. It supports 15W fast charging, which is not the fastest in its price range.
Then there are microphones on the top and bottom sides. Also, the earpiece is well placed at the top of the notch.
In terms of the overall weight and feel of the phone, I find the Samsung M31 a bit heavy. It’s not on the light side, but it doesn’t feel too heavy.
On the other hand, it is a tall phone, but if you adjust your hand, you can reach the top. However, it’s easy to handle and grippy even with a glossy finish on the back. I think the curved sides make it easier to handle.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 features a 6.4-inch 1080×2340 (FHD+) AMOLED display. It’s a 60Hz panel with deep blacks and impressive color reproduction.
We know that Samsung has the best screens and it is one of the only manufacturers that provides an FHD AMOLED display at this price. Looking at the M31 screen is amazing.
I use it in Vivid color mode and the colors really pop because of it. The contrast ratio is also pretty high and so far I’ve enjoyed watching YouTube videos on the Samsung M31. Speaking of brightness, it’s pretty good too. It is not difficult to use the screen under sunlight.
The Samsung Galaxy M31 uses Samsung’s new 64MP ISOCELL GW1 sensor. It’s a large 1/1.7″ sensor with a pixel size of 0.8μm. It’s the same sensor you’ll find on the Realme XT and Redmi Note 8 Pro.

It also has an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro camera. Along with this, you get a single 32MP selfie camera on the front.
I have clicked only a few photos with it so far and I like what I have seen so far. The 64-megapixel sensor provides clear details. Even when you zoom in, details are preserved. There isn’t much pixelation compared to 16MP images.
However, I found that the 64MP images did not have good dynamic range. 16MP images have better dynamic range than 64MP images.
Moving on, the Wide Angle sensor is a 123 degree wide angle sensor. Everything is fine, but the pictures are saturated.

Now this is a matter of personal preference, but sometimes an ultra-wide angle doesn’t look as good when it’s oversaturated.
Now, what I like about mid-range Samsung phones is that they have a 5-megapixel macro sensor when other manufacturers use a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
Macro photography is great, but if there isn’t a lot of detail, the images don’t look appealing. So far I like the macro sensor on the M31. The extra pixel definitely helps to get more detail.

Now let’s talk about its selfie camera. There is a 32MP snapper on the front. And it’s really impressive. I like the details in the selfies. But the pictures have a warmer tone. So everything is fine now.
As for videos, it can shoot up to 4k30fps. I will add the camera example below. We will talk about its video quality in a full review.
Exynos 9611 is not necessarily the best performing processor in the mid-range. It is manufactured on a 10nm process and has an octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU along with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU.
It performs the same as the Snapdragon 660, but the Snapdragon 675 is higher than the Exynos 9611. However, the Exynos 9611 is a more efficient processor than the Snapdragon 660, 665 and 675. It also supports higher megapixel cameras than the Snapdragon 660.

So far the performance has been good. I mean, there’s no lag when I’m using apps or switching between them.
Also, I just played a game called “paradise”. It is a third person game with pretty good graphics. It worked fine and there were no frames or stutters. But I only played it for a few minutes. So I’ll save the full performance review in my full review.
