Update Samsung Galaxy S 21 Ultra Rate Review

Update Samsung Galaxy S 21 Ultra Rate Review – My two weeks with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra almost felt like a waste. Here’s a solid tool that I got to review in the middle of my second MCO cycle, when I was mostly at home.

I couldn’t use it to capture Putrajaya’s unique architecture, or even impress relatives during Chinese New Year (which was actually canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak). Most of the time, the smartphone sat on my desk like a caged bear, limited and impractical.

It feels like a waste, because the Galaxy S21 Ultra is a smartphone for makers. It has a very versatile camera system packed into one powerful device for work, play and everything else you need a smartphone for. It has features you need and features that feel inadequate.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: Slight Tweaks Aimed At Perfection

It’s basically a Galaxy S device in all its glory. It also feels familiar: more refinements of last year’s S20 lineup rather than an innovative outing. However, I think this is a good thing.

By polishing the rough edges of the S20 Ultra and adding its own gloss, the S21 Ultra shines on its own. For an expensive, wallet-bleeding flagship, it hardly disappoints.

But at the same time, the improvements only highlight what is missing from the S21 Ultra. There’s no microSD slot, no wired charger, and headphones are included in the box.

Maybe these are small problems in the grand scheme of things. But for a device that costs more than US$1,200 (RM5,000), what is missing can be added.

Should You Buy The Galaxy S21 Ultra In 2023

Like a RM5000 device. The smartphone has an aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass protection and feels reasonably solid and sturdy. It’s also quite heavy, which, combined with its relatively large build, makes the S21 Ultra a bulky smartphone.

It’s not the thinnest flagship, but it looks great. I rather liked the sleek industrial look and the black version I had looked pretty sweet. The glass back, now matte, feels nice to the touch. Although the smartphone is very low.

The camera island has expanded even further, with more popular lenses. Some may find it inconvenient. I think it’s a really good effort to emphasize the camera system instead of hiding it. The S21 Ultra is already a beautiful phone, regardless. The big camera island just oversells it, IMHO.

His face is very interesting. The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a vibrant AMOLED 2X display, which is as premium as it gets. It’s a 6.8-inch 1,440p OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, meaning you can set the S21 Ultra to display at 120Hz when you touch the phone, dropping down to 60Hz a few seconds after your last interaction. . .

It has a beautiful screen that hopefully shows sharp, colorful and clear images that can be seen even in direct sunlight. The 120Hz refresh rate and HDR+ support make it great for videos and games.

The original S20 Ultra had a limitation where the 120Hz refresh rate only worked at 1,080p resolution. Here, on the S21 Ultra, it works at 1,440p.

The S21 Ultra has a stereo speaker setup. It works well – it’s loud, the vocals are clear and it has good bass.

The S21 Ultra is one of the most versatile camera systems to date. It’s a quad-camera setup starting with a 108MP primary shooter followed by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. What’s really special here is that it has two 10MP zoom buttons, for a convenient 3x and 10x optical zoom.

Having two telephoto zoom lenses adds a lot of versatility to an already accomplished (by most smartphone standards) camera system, ensuring great photos at different zoom levels.

The primary shooter produces 12MP photos by default, which look great with plenty of detail and strong colors. You can of course choose a 108MP image.

At full resolution, I find images drop in detail, but you can manually zoom in on the larger 108MP image for even faster, more detailed images.

As for the ultra-wide shots, they look good too – colors look accurate with strong contrast, though there isn’t much in the way of detail. The ultrawide also has autofocus, so you can use it for wide close-ups, which is nice.

Both zoom cameras also produce great photos and I can’t find any difference in quality between the two. Colors are accurate and contrast is good. The front selfie camera is the same 40MP snapper as the S20 Ultra. It’s great, providing plenty of detail and colors that stand out.

The camera also performs well in low light and night shots. The main camera gives great night shots with good sharpness and brightness. Take photos in night mode and you’ll get photos with even better clarity.

The wide-angle camera is also good at night, although it doesn’t offer the best detail. Both telephoto shooters also produce good night images with accurate colors and remarkably low noise. Night mode works on all cameras, so use it if you can: it makes photos much better.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is also great for video. It supports 4K video recording at 60fps on all five cameras, including the selfie shooter. You can even shoot 8K video at 24fps with the main camera.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review, Pros And Cons

I didn’t shoot a lot of video with the S21 Ultra, but 4K@30fps video looks good to me, while 4K@60fps looks a little soft to my eyes.

What’s cool is Director’s View, a mode that shows you live images from all four cameras at once, so you can choose which one you want to use for recording. Good for finding the right camera for different situations without having to switch between them.

Those who pay attention to the specifics of their smartphones will note that the Malaysian version of the S21 Ultra has an Exynos 2100 SoC instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which powers the US version.

There are more detailed benchmarks that show their differences, but in everyday use I think the Exynos 2100 provides the necessary power and performance for both work and play.

Galaxy S21 Ultra: The Best

The S21 Ultra uses a 5,000mAh battery, which is the same as its predecessors. With the S21 Ultra rocking a 1,440p display at 120Hz, I expected battery life to be mediocre at best.

Surprisingly, this device offers very durable battery life – a full day of web browsing, some games, some Netflix and a lot of time on social media still left me with about 30% juice at 11pm.

You can expect the S21 Ultra to be a productivity device. With the Samsung Dex, for example, you can use your phone as a computer and add a monitor and keyboard to it, either wirelessly or via HDMI. Interestingly, the S21 Ultra is the first Galaxy S device to support the Samsung S Pen.

You have to buy the S Pen separately, and there’s no slot for the pen on the device like you would on a Galaxy Note device, but there are cases for it.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: Still A Great Flagship

I tried using my Note 10+ S Pen on the S21 Ultra and it instantly created by tapping the device on the screen. The S21 Ultra supports basic S Pen functionality from Screen Off Memo to Screen Writing and Screen Translation. What it lacks are air actions, which are essentially superficial.

Adding S Pen functionality to the S21 Ultra is just the icing on the cake. This tall cake also costs a handsome RM5, 899 for the 512GB variant. As mentioned, the S21 Ultra does not support microSD storage expansion and no charger is included.

The good news is that there are plenty of charging options: there’s 10W+ wireless charging, and the phone also features Wireless PowerShare, which lets you charge other devices wirelessly. But when you look at the small fortune you’re paying for the device, these little bums stand out in a big way.

But I guess these are small losses in the grand scheme of things. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is the perfect flagship device – powerful, versatile and likely to take you years to 5G in the near future. It’s hard to see smartphones as an ‘investment’, as each iteration quickly overtakes the next.
