Sources told IANS on Monday that the Galaxy M31 with a 64MP camera and a large 6,000mAh battery will be available for sale in the first week of March.
As part of the strategic development, the Galaxy M31 is likely to be available across leading retail stores except for Amazon.in and Samsung’s online store.
Samsung, which is said to be India’s first smartphone, launched six models under its M series in 2019 – M10, M20, M30, M40, M10, and M30.
According to industry analysts, the Galaxy M helped Samsung gain massive market share in the internet segment last year.

Although the Galaxy M series has already reached the mid-budget segment with phones like the M20 and M30, the company has once again launched the lite version and the successor of these phones and dubbed it the Samsung Galaxy M31. The Galaxy M series is all about offering the best of everything in a mid-range price range, and the inclusion of the Galaxy M31 takes those concepts even further. Recently, I got to try my hand at this amazing device, and the experience was amazing. Performance, battery, cameras, everything was fine when I used it or misused it at times, so I’m sharing my experience and giving you guys an honest opinion about this device in terms of review.
I found the screen to be excellent, and it never let me down whenever I watched series, movies, or videos on Netflix, whether inside my room or outside in bright sunlight. Frame rates felt smooth while playing PUBG, and those vibrant, well-saturated colors and contrast were unparalleled. The 6.4 inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels gives you a distinct taste of Samsung. With Gorilla Glass 3, it’s protected from scratches, and your viewing experience never lets up.
When it comes to design, the Galaxy M31 is similar to its M30s predecessor except for one small, useful change in the M31 from the fourth camera. The rectangular camera module protrudes slightly, and a fourth camera has been added next to the first sensor and above the flashlight. The device is comfortable to hold in your hand and perhaps because of its ‘Glastic’ back, it feels quite nice.

The fingerprint sensor is in the middle, which makes it a little tricky to reach without slightly shaking your hand or using a finger on the other hand. The phone is made entirely out of plastic, and it’s still very shiny and shiny to say ‘Glastic’, but the downside is that fingerprint scratches dot the entire back of the phone, which makes it look a little worn, which is why you have to get yourself a cover.
However, don’t underestimate Samsung’s camera sensor. The quad camera setup of this device works great. To test the night mode’s prowess, I also took pictures at 8:00pm all around. It impressed me, but while I was disappointed with the ultra wide-angle mode, details weren’t quite as sharp and grainy. While the normal main sensor modes, Pro mode, and Macro mode are great, for photos, the Live Focus mode has you covered.
The company cleverly combines a 64MP main sensor (like on the Galaxy A70s) with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP depth sensor, and another 5MP macro lens. This setup records well-stabilized video in 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 30fps, and has modes like slow motion and hyperlinking.
Good news for selfie lovers, since the M31’s 32MP camera sensor has got you covered. The quality of the selfies you take is unparalleled, and with the Beauty Intensity option, you have complete control over skin smoothing, skin whitening, and other beauty options. These settings can quickly turn a burnt loaf into a soft berry, trust me on this one. This setup can shoot video in 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps.

The M31 houses a 6,000mAh battery, which should give the device enough power for a full day even with heavy use. Well, I played PUBG continuously for 4 hours and then it went from 92% to 54%, with just enough juice left to get the job done. The Titan-sized battery also supports 15W fast charging via the reversible Type-C 1.0 connector. The battery backup on this device was great, and I was impressed.
Equipped with Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 9611 chipset on top of an octa-core CPU and Mali-G72 GPU backed by 6GB of RAM, the performance is pretty decent. I played PUBG at balanced graphics with a maximum frame rate setting, yet the gameplay was very smooth. But the device did get a little warm, but that’s a compromise we all have to consider. The mono speaker also worked well and the sound was great while gaming and watching videos.
The software experience is another thing that I appreciate, as it runs on the latest Android 10 with the latest One UI 2.0 on top. One-handed use is pretty firm and the dark mode is very good. Overall, the performance of the M31 is nothing to complain about and the gaming performance it offers is really good. The device can handle heavy games and heavy graphics very well.
Samsung Galaxy M31 price is Rs. 30,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant and Rs. 35,699 for the 8GB/128GB variant. The color options offered by the phone are blue, red and black.

The phone is available for only Rs. 30,999, looks pretty good to me with all the latest specs. Samsung may be looking to top the budget mid-range segment as it does in the flagship segment with its Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series.

The question now is whether the Galaxy M31 is worth buying for Rs. 30,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant while you have the option of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, priced at Rs. 29999 for the same variant. Redmi Note 9 Pro features a quad camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor, but the Galaxy M31 features a similar setup with a 64MP primary sensor.

The Galaxy M31 excels with its Super AMOLED screen, the Redmi Note Pro with its IPS LCD screen excels, and even the front camera is 32 megapixels in the Galaxy M31, while it is only 16 megapixels in the Redmi Note 9 Pro. When it comes to heavy gaming, the Redmi Note 9 Pro performs better thanks to its Snapdragon 720G chipset which is better than the Exynos 9611 chipset of the Galaxy M31 in terms of performance.
