Update Samsung Galaxy M31 Daraz Review – Samsung recently completed a stable rollout of Android 11 for the flagship Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Note 20 series. Now it’s time to focus on lesser-known items such as the -mid-range A series as well as the budget M series. Here is the latest One UI 3.0 firmware update based on Android 11 for the popular Galaxy M30s.
The Galaxy M30 quickly became one of the most popular smartphones after its launch as it featured amazing hardware and software specifications at low prices. Samsung recently released the successor to the M30 called the Galaxy M30s, with an improved camera, processor, more RAM and storage at similar (budget) prices. The M30s were also very successful, although sold in very limited regions like India.

It makes sense that Samsung would support the popular M series to continue its legacy. Today, Samsung released the stable Android 11 OTA update for the M30s with the latest One UI 3.0 firmware update. In addition, the OEM has also launched a public beta program for the latest Galaxy M31 device in Asia. Check out all the details from the following screenshots.

Thanks to Yash Agarwal on Twitter for first reporting the One UI 3 stable firmware release for the M30s. It packs all the goodness of Android 11 along with the latest security patch in January 2021. It also comes with most of the One UI 3.0 features from the Galaxy S20 series; except such as Deck mode or even Wireless Deck.
The OTA is currently available in India with the build number M307FKSKSU4CUAG. The update weighs around 2 GB. You can also download OTA by visiting settings > system updates > manually download OTA update from your phone.
Alternatively, you can download the complete firmware using SamFirm or Frija tools and install it using Odin FlashTool. Check out the download instructions from our previous S20 FE post.

While the Galaxy M series has already made its way to mid-range budget phones like the M20 and M30s, the company has relaunched the tone version and its successor on these phones and has announced the Samsung Galaxy M31. The Galaxy M series is all about delivering all that is good in the mid-budget price range, and the introduction of the Galaxy M31 has pushed those concepts further. Recently I got to know this great tool and the experience was amazing. Performance, battery, cameras, everything was good while I was using it or sometimes abusing it, so let me share my experience and give you an honest opinion about this device in terms of re -judgment.
I found the screen to be excellent and never let me down whenever I was watching Netflix series, movies or videos, whether it was in my room or out in the bright sun The framerate was smooth while playing PUBG, and those vibrant, saturated, contrasting colors were something else. The 6.4-inch Full HD + Super AMOLED Infinity-U 1080x2340p display gives you the typical Samsung flavor. With Gorilla Glass 3, it is safe from scratches and the viewing experience will never be disturbed.
When it comes to design, the Galaxy M31 is the same as its predecessor the M30s, except for a small useful tweak in the fourth camera of the M31. The rectangular camera module has been stretched a bit, and a fourth camera has been placed next to the first sensor and above the flashlight. This device is comfortable to hold in the hand and gives a premium feeling, probably because of the “glass” back.
The fingerprint sensor is in the middle, which makes it a little difficult to reach without moving your hand or using a finger on the other hand. The whole phone is plastic but it is very shiny and glossy “Glastic” but the downside is that the fingerprints are scattered all over the back of the phone making it look a bit dull and like then you need to get yourself covered.

They said they never underestimate a Samsung camera sensor, well said. The quad camera setup of this device does a fantastic job. I took pictures everywhere, even at 8:00 PM, to test its night mode capability. That impressed me, but when I was disappointed with the ultra-wide mode, it lacked detail and was ugly. While the main sensor’s standard mode, Pro Mode, Macro Mode are excellent, and for photos, the Live Focus mode is your back.
The company cleverly combines a 64MP main sensor (similar to the Galaxy A70s) with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP depth sensor and another 5MP macro lens. This setup also shoots well-established video in 4K at 30 fps, 1080p at 30 fps, and has modes like Slow-mo and Hyperlapse.
Good news for selfieholics, the M31’s 32-megapixel camera sensor as a selfie shooter has you covered. The quality of the selfies it takes is something, and with the intensive beauty option, you can fully control skin smoothing, skin whitening and other beauty options as you wish. These tweaks can turn a burnt roti into a smooth raspberry in no time, trust me. This setup can record videos in 4K at 30 fps and in 1080p at 30 fps.
The M31 has a 6000mAh battery, which gives the device enough juice throughout the day, even with intensive use. Well, I played PUBG for 4 hours straight and then went from 92% to another 54%, enough juice left to get things done. This titan-sized battery also supports 15V fast charging via the reversible Type-C 1.0 connector. The battery backup of this device was excellent and I liked it.

Equipped with Samsung’s own Ekinos 9611 chipset, together with Octa-core CPU and Mali-G72 as GPU supported by 6GB of RAM, the performance is excellent. I played PUBG in balanced graphics with Extreme Frame Rate setting and still the game was smooth. But the device did get a little warm, but that’s a trade-off we all have to consider. The mono speaker also did a good job and the sound was great while playing games and watching videos.
Another thing I appreciate is running on the latest Android 10 with the latest One UI 2.0 software experience. The company and Dark Mode have greatly improved the one-handed usability, which is so nice. Overall, there are no complaints about the performance of the M31, and the gaming performance it provides is very good. This device can handle heavy games and heavy graphics work very well.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy M31 is Rs. 30,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant and Rs. 35, 699 for the 8GB/128GB variant. The color options offered by the phones are blue, red and black.
Get the phone just for Rs. 30, 999, with all the modern specifications sounds good to me. Samsung probably wants to be at the top of the budget mid-range segment, as it is in the premium segment with its Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series.

Is the Samsung Galaxy M31 worth the price even when the Redmi Note 9 Pro also comes in the same price range?
Now the question is whether the Galaxy M31 is worth buying for Rs. 30,999 for the 6GB / 128GB variant when you opt for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is priced at Rs. 29,999 for the same variant. The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a quad camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, whereas the Galaxy M31 has the same setup with a 64MP main sensor.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 5020mAh battery, while the Galaxy M31 has a large 6000mAh battery. The Galaxy M31 passes with a Super AMOLED screen where the Redmi Note Pro has an IPS LCD screen, and even the front camera is 32MP in the Galaxy M31, while it is only 16MP in the Redmi Note 9 Pro . When it comes to heavy gaming, the Redmi Note 9 Pro delivers better performance due to the Snapdragon 720G chipset which is better than Galaxy M31’s Equinox 9611 chipset in terms of performance.
