Samsung Galaxy A51 With Quad Rear Cameras, In Display Sensor Launched In India: Price, Specifications

How good are $400 phones really? If the device in question is the Samsung Galaxy A51, the answer is simple. It is “very good”. As the first true representative of the Galaxy A family in the US, the A51 is a convincing step to prove that Samsung can make a great mid-range phone worth buying. In fact, Samsung’s budget phone (£329 UK, AU$599 AU) beats the iPhone SE (starting at AU$399, AU$419, AU$749) in several specific and important ways. When it comes to screen size and clarity, phone features, camera quality and performance, the Galaxy A51 delivers, with one exception.

The Galaxy A51 is sold by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, Amazon and as part of a bundle on Samsung.com.

The Galaxy A51’s Achilles heel is the speed of Samsung’s Exynos 9611 processor. Performance seems sluggish when performing routine tasks such as loading websites or waiting for app updates. Benchmarks support real-world observations.

The Galaxy A51 certainly lags behind higher-end phones like the Galaxy S20, but so does the A51’s main rival. That’s because Apple equips the iPhone SE with the same A13 Bionic chipset as the most expensive iPhone 11, which is why Apple’s budget devices are so popular. The iPhone SE also beats the A51 when it comes to water resistance and wireless charging, both features missing from Samsung’s budget phones. (For a full comparison of Galaxy A51 and iPhone SE specs, see the table at the end of this review.)

But the Galaxy A51 has its own charm. The iPhone SE’s built-in storage has doubled compared to the SE’s starting price, offering 128GB from the start, compared to 64GB in the cheapest SE model, with support for external storage as well. Samsung’s screen is much larger and the thin bezels give the phone a modern look with very little wasted space. The battery life of the two phones is also comparable. Both looped video tests in flight mode took about 16 hours, with additional laboratory tests planned. In this test, the Galaxy A51 lasted about 20 minutes longer than the SE.

The Galaxy A51 also stands firm in front of the camera, in a typical comparison between Samsung phones and iPhones. In other words, the Galaxy photos are more saturated than the iPhone’s more natural tones. The iPhone SE has the benefit of optical image stabilization, but the A51’s four cameras offer more shooting options than the iPhone SE. What I appreciate most is the wide-angle lens, which the SE doesn’t have. In all other respects, however, the photo quality is pretty close, with one outperforming the other in various scenarios. For more details, my colleague Lexi Savides has written a nice and in-depth article comparing the Galaxy A51 and iPhone SE cameras.

Leaving the iPhone SE out of the equation, the A51 is very similar to the Galaxy S20 Plus for a third of the price. Overall, it’s an impressive package considering the A51 is significantly cheaper than any phone in the Galaxy S20 family.

Aside from the A51’s more obvious front-facing camera and the fact that the A51 uses an optical in-screen fingerprint reader, it’s hard to tell the two big phones apart at first glance. By the way, the fingerprint reader was more accurate for me than the Galaxy S20’s ultrasonic sensor.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Full Review: A Trendsetting Mid Range Smartphone

The A51 is slightly lighter because it has a plastic back instead of glass. When I watched the same Netflix show side by side, the A51’s screen was almost as bright, detailed and colorful as the Galaxy S20 Plus. Visibility outside at noon was also fairly even.

Photos and videos look much better on the Galaxy S20. This is mainly because the photo resolution is sharper on the more expensive model, and with OIS you get smoother and more stable images and videos. The Galaxy A51’s camera uses Samsung’s stock software, including night mode, and the phone has settings like macros and HDR. You can take 48MP photos by selecting the camera settings. Comparing the same enlarged photo taken by both phones on my laptop screen, it’s easy to see that the Galaxy S20 is better. In other photos, the local flowers along the walk and the dinner I cooked looked equally delicious.

I appreciate that the Galaxy A51 has a macro feature that blurs the Galaxy S20 if you get too close. In some cases, it was too easy to get out-of-focus macros on the A51. Selfies are much better on the Galaxy S20, but work great on the A51. In addition, you can use portrait and beauty modes to soften the scene.

It’s a shame the Galaxy A51 doesn’t have water resistance. Most modern cell phones have this feature, but lower-end phones are usually not waterproof or simply “splash-proof.” The A51’s battery life lasted all day, from morning to night, averaging 16 hours and 10 minutes after three cyclic video tests in flight mode. I will update this review with the results as soon as I finish my Wi-Fi lab tests.

Thankfully, the A51 also comes with a 15W fast charger, but unlike the Galaxy S20, you’ll need to bring your own headphones and the necessary USB-C to USB-C cable. However, it does come with a USB-A to USB-C cord.

The release of mobile phones is slowing down, but the Galaxy A51 is one of at least 16 phones that will be released in 2020. Samsung has also confirmed plans to release another foldable phone. Samsung Galaxy A51 review: It’s just a functional device. The Galaxy A51 is priced at Rs 23,999 and features a 48MP quad camera and a 4000mAh battery.

Last month, Samsung launched its new A-series smartphone, the Galaxy A51, in India. The A-series phones are suitable for the mid-budget segment and this smartphone is too. Priced at Rs 23,999, its highlights include a 48MP quad camera and a 4,000mAh battery.

In this price segment, the Galaxy A51 competes directly with the Redmi K20 Pro (review), Redmi Note 8 Pro and Oppo F15 (review).

Samsung Galaxy A51 Specs, Review, Release Date

While the F15 is mostly design and bare bones, the K20 Pro is a powerful device and the closest competitor to the Galaxy A51.

So, will the Galaxy A51 prove to be a better choice than the K20 Pro? Is it a good daily driver? A powerful device different from other A-series counterparts? To answer all these questions, I spent a week on a smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 405 ppi, a screen-to-body ratio of 87.4 percent, and an aspect ratio of 20:9.

Vibrant colors and brightness, as well as the size, make the A51 very convenient for watching videos on the go.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Review: Perfect In Its Own Reality

Sunlight visibility on the Galaxy A51 is excellent. No more squinting to read texts or look at photos on your phone.

However, the phone’s automatic brightness is confusing at times. In bright indoor conditions, the phone can constantly switch between low and high brightness, which is very annoying for the user.

Samsung Galaxy A51 does not have a striking design, at least at first glance. However, when you pick it up for the first time, you’ll notice how light the device is despite the 4,000mAh battery under the hood. It weighs 172 grams.

The smartphone is also very smooth and offers a great grip even with the glossy back panel. The back of the Galaxy A51 looks like glass, but feels like plastic (certainly not cheap). That’s because Samsung uses a material called “Glasstic” for the back of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy A52 Review: Unboxing And First Impression

I used my phone for two weeks and carried it in my bag with my keys, lipstick, charger, wallet, etc.
