Dutch users will automatically be notified when the An 12 update is ready for their device. It is also possible to manually check if your A51 can be updated. You do this by going to Settings, selecting Software Update, and then clicking Download and Install. The update will then automatically appear on the screen.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Gets The February 2022 Security Update

12 is the second updated version for Samsung A51. The phone launched in late 2019 with the An 10 and was later upgraded to the An 11. An An 13 is also expected to arrive for the A51, but that likely won’t happen until next year. In February, Samsung announced that the Galaxy A51 would receive significantly fewer security patches.

Samsung Galaxy A51 is one of the most popular smartphones released by the company to date. It is characterized by a good price-quality ratio, and in March 2021 it was replaced by the Samsung A52. This smartphone has become one of the most popular devices of the past year.

Now we’ve found the Samsung Galaxy A53 available to buy in the Netherlands for a few weeks. The phone is very similar to the A52 with mostly minor improvements. The device works faster thanks to the new processor, the battery is bigger, and the screen is nicer and smoother.

The Galaxy A53 has a suggested retail price of €449, although it has dropped significantly in price in a short time. You can buy the phone from some online stores for less than €400. By comparing the prices below, you can see where the A53 is the cheapest.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 was one of Samsung’s biggest mid-range models in 2020. It was the first time Samsung’s A-series was available in the United States, making it an affordable option for those who want a smartphone. Samsung just doesn’t want them. Paying $1000 to get one.

With so much competition in the mid-range, is it a good choice for the price? I will find out

About this Samsung Galaxy A51 review: I used the Galaxy A51 for six days on Google Fi. At the time of review, the phone ran Android 10-based One UI 2.1.

Samsung Galaxy A51

The Samsung Galaxy A51 is made of a material that Samsung calls “Glastic”. It gives a higher quality feel than pure plastic phones, but it’s certainly not as premium as something like the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. At the end of the day, it’s still plastic, though I didn’t mind it nearly as much as the plastic on other phones in this price range. The phone is smooth, but not slippery, and quite light at just 158 grams. By comparison, the OnePlus 9 Pro weighs 197 grams.

The edge of the device is aluminum, and it feels quite high-quality. On the right side you’ll find the power button and volume rocker, with the USB-C port, speakers and headphone jack at the bottom. On the left side of the phone is a dual-SIM tray that holds two SIM cards and an SD card up to 512GB. While most phones double as a second SIM or microSD card slot, the A51 has two dedicated SIM card slots and a separate microSD card tray. Nice to see.

I love the crazy color and design on the back of the device. It’s definitely different and I appreciate phones with interesting colors. My model is Prism Crush Black, which gives off a rainbow color when the light hits it at the right angle. It also comes in Prism Crush Blue and Prism Crush White, which offer similar iridescent reflections.

The speakers on the phone got loud enough, but there was no sense of bass. I wouldn’t use the speakers to listen to music directly, although the headphone jack is a big plus.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Review: Oh, Hey There Good Lookin’

For a phone under $400, the Samsung Galaxy A51 has a surprisingly good display. Most mid-range phones use LCD displays instead of OLED, but Samsung has managed to fill the large OLED screen with quite a lot of pixels. It’s a 1080p screen. Since most high-end phones come with 1080p by default, this didn’t bother me. Colors were bright and vibrant, typical of Samsung panels. It’s brilliant.

One thing that distracts from this display is the hole-punch camera cutout in the middle of the phone. While I usually love punch-hole cutouts, Samsung decided to put a silver metal ring around the camera to make it much more visible than without the ring. It’s not a deal breaker, but it makes you notice it even when the display is off. I don’t understand why Samsung did this.

The Galaxy A51 has an in-display optical fingerprint reader. Unfortunately, the fingerprint reader is slow and inaccurate. Each registration of my fingerprint took about two seconds. Also, the accuracy rate seemed to be around 50% when I was using the device, which is really bad. For speed and accuracy, you may be better off using a PIN or even the 2D face unlock feature.

With a mid-range Exynos chip and just 4GB of RAM as standard, we didn’t expect the Samsung Galaxy A51 to have great performance. After using the device for a while and running tests, we confirmed our fears.

Samsung’s January 2022 Security Update Is Arriving For More Phones Internationally

I haven’t said this about a phone in a while, but the Samsung Galaxy A51 is slow. You may experience lag when opening apps and multitasking, and there will be frequent stuttering and finger-swiping across the interface. The phone used 1.9GB of the available 4GB of RAM even with apps closed, which is a pretty bad sign. During our testing, we’ve come to the conclusion that modern versions of Android need about 6GB of RAM to run smoothly, and this device proved it.

We saw a similar story in benchmarks. The phone lagged behind most devices in our test. Since launch, it has fallen even further behind the rest of the mid-range segment, with the Snapdragon 700 series phones far outpacing the Galaxy A51’s Exynos processor. Check out the results below.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a relatively large 4000 mAh battery. With a low-powered processor and a small amount of RAM, you’d expect the device to have killer battery life. And to be honest, it wasn’t bad, but not as good as I would have liked. The phone conversation lasted about 29 hours, from 8 a.m. one day to 1 p.m. the next. It’s definitely not as good as phones with much larger batteries, but I’m glad it can last at least a full day. I got about four and a half hours of screen time on this device.

The A51 supports 15W charging, which isn’t the fastest. Given that the original Google Pixel supported 18W charging in 2016, it seems a little sluggish in 2020. Today, Samsung’s Galaxy S20 flagship devices charge at 25W by default, so I’d like to see at least 18W on the Galaxy A51.

Samsung Galaxy A51 Review: Great Screen, Bad Performance

For a phone under $400, the Galaxy A51 has some decent cameras and a lot going for it. There’s a 48MP primary sensor that tapers to 12MP, along with a wide-angle and macro lens, a depth sensor, and a 32MP front-facing camera.

Dynamic range seemed good on this camera, although photos looked a bit underexposed – probably to avoid flare. However, some camera systems can push the shadows too high for dynamic range, creating a gray haze in the shadows. Samsung phones traditionally do this, so I was surprised to see that the A51 doesn’t.

Colors were generally good, but the A51 had a tendency to over-saturate certain colors like blues and greens. It will probably bring out the sky and plants, but some of the images look a little cartoonish. However, Samsung has always done this with their camera systems, so I’m not surprised.

The depth sensor seems to help a lot and I’m glad it doesn’t just work on humans and animals. While the bokeh could have looked a bit more natural, object detection and cropping were quite accurate. i was
