With the Galaxy A51, Samsung introduced a new smartphone in February that has since regularly appeared in the rankings of best-selling models. Popular smartphone users in Russia will now get an update to the current One UI version 2.5. Samsung is known for gradually rolling out software updates to different regions. But it shouldn’t be long before we get to enjoy the latest version in this country.

Apart from the Galaxy A51, the Galaxy S9 smartphone also received the latest update after it was promised in August. The new version is already available in Germany and comes with a new bootloader in addition to the classic security patch. However, the latter means that you cannot downgrade to an earlier version at the latest.

A new feature is Wireless DeX, which lets you connect your Galaxy S9 wirelessly to a TV or external screen to play Netflix or other apps on it. After being fascinated with desktop computers and notebooks from a young age (sometimes to the chagrin of my parents), I started writing for the news section as a freelancer in 2016. Samsung is offering double the storage to its Galaxy A51 and it still keeps the same price as the current 128GB model. This is Samsung’s mid-range smartphone that comes with a large AMOLED display, 4-camera setup and a 4,000mAh cell that promises long battery life.
According to Samsung Malaysia, the Galaxy A51 256GB is officially priced at RM 1,399 and will be available at all Samsung retail stores from 6 November 2020. If 256GB isn’t enough, the device can still accept microSD cards up to 512GB.

Overall, the Galaxy A51 sports a 6.5-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a small punch hole at the top for its 32MP selfie camera. Under the hood, it runs on an Exynos 9611 chip with 8GB of RAM.
For photography, it is equipped with four cameras with 48MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide angle camera, 5MP macro lens and 5MP depth sensor. The device’s battery is 4,000mAh, which supports 15W fast charging via USB-C, and it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Galaxy A51 256GB is available in three colors: Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue and Haze Crush Silver. The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a good screen and good build quality, but is severely hampered by slow performance.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 is made of a material that Samsung calls “Glastik”. This gives it a higher quality feel than a purely plastic phone, but it doesn’t really feel as good as the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. It’s still plastic, though I don’t mind it, almost as plastic as other phones in this price range. The phone is soft but not flimsy and weighs just 158 grams. For comparison, the OnePlus 9 Pro weighs 197 grams.

The edges of the device are aluminum and feel very high quality. On the right you’ll find the power and alarm buttons along with the USB-C port, speakers and a headphone jack at the bottom. The left side of the phone has a dual SIM card slot and an SD card up to 512GB. While most phones allow dual SIM or microSD card access in the second slot, the A51 has dual SIM slots and a separate microSD card slot. It looks really good.
I really like the crazy colors and design on the back of the device. It’s really different and I really like phones with interesting colors. The model I have is the Prism Crush Black, which emits a rainbow color when exposed to light from the right angle. It’s also available in Prism Crush Blue and Prism Crush White, which offer similar rainbow-colored reflections.
The speakers on the phone are loud but lack bass. I wouldn’t use the speakers to listen to live music, though the headphone jack is a big plus.
For a phone under $400, the Samsung Galaxy A51 has a surprisingly good screen. Most mid-range phones use LCDs instead of OLEDs, but Samsung can fit in large OLED screens with plenty of pixels. This is a 1080p screen. Considering that most smartphones come in 1080p mode by default, this doesn’t bother me. Colors are subtle and bright, which is typical for Samsung panels. It’s really cool.

One annoying thing about this screen is the camera hole cut in the middle of the phone. While I usually like punch cutouts, Samsung decided to put a silver metal ring around the camera, making it even brighter than the ring itself. It’s not distracting, but it forces you to pay attention even when the screen is off. I don’t know why Samsung does this.
The Galaxy A51 has an optical fingerprint reader. Unfortunately, the fingerprint reader is slow and inaccurate. It takes about two seconds to register my fingerprint each time. Furthermore, the accuracy rate seems to be around 50% while I’m using this tool, which is really bad. You can do better with PIN unlock or even 2D unlock options for speed and accuracy.
With a mid-range Exynos chip and only 4GB of RAM as standard, we didn’t expect great performance from the Samsung Galaxy A51. After using the tool for a while and running our target setup, we confirmed our fears.
I haven’t said this about a phone in a while, but the Samsung Galaxy A51 is slow. You may feel that there is a delay in launching applications and tasks and that there will often be obstacles in dragging around the UI. The phone uses 1.9GB RAM out of 4GB RAM, even with all apps closed, which is a bad sign. In our test, we concluded that the modern version of Android needs 6GB of RAM to run smoothly, and this is confirmed by this device.

In comparison we see the same things. This phone is slower than most devices in our tests. It falls far behind the rest of the mid-range since the launch of the Snapdragon 700 series, away from the Galaxy A51 Exynos processor. See the results below.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a large 4,000mAh battery. With a low power CPU and low RAM, you can expect this device to get poor battery life. And honestly, it’s not bad, but it’s not as great as it should be. The call lasts for about 29 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the next day. It’s not as good as a phone with a bigger battery, but I’m glad it lasts longer.
