Due to remote work routines and infrequent meetings with friends and colleagues, we traveled less and rarely looked at our phones. It has also forced many consumers to rethink their smartphone preferences and spending. That’s why it’s priced: cost-effective devices are on the rise. The Rs 20,000 to 25,000 price range is the sweet spot where devices like OnePlus Nord, Samsung Galaxy M51 and Mi10i make a difference. This is where Samsung launched the new Galaxy F62.
The F62 is the second F-series to debut in the fourth quarter of 2020, following the F41. Samsung stands for ‘Full-on’ in this F series in India, designed for discerning users who want everything at a reasonable price.

The first thing that caught my attention was the ribbed pattern that emphasized the color gradient. This adds a premium element to the design, which works particularly well on the green laser variant I tested. I love how it changes from emerald green to metallic silver. Although it is made of polycarbonate, it can pass through a glass back. Samsung calls it “glazed” – which is almost a fair description.

In many ways, the F62 is an improvement over the M51. One of the many similarities you’ll notice is the 7,000mAh battery. It adds a lot of weight to the device, but it doesn’t feel too heavy in your hand. A sturdy battery is something power users will appreciate. Unless you’re a heavy gamer or “observer,” you can manage about two days on a single charge. Samsung brought a 25W fast charger in the box. Another similar feature is the 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display (1080 x 2400 pixels/393 PPI). We would like to see a 90Hz refresh rate on this screen.
We like the use of four rear cameras and a 32MP selfie sensor on the M51; The F62 offers the same experience. It’s the same four cameras – a 64MP primary lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro lens. The device scores in low light, but its live focus (portrait mode) and macro shots are a pleasant surprise. While the camera experience is similar to that of the M51, it’s the placement of the rear camera module with its symmetrical design that adds to the cool quotient of the F62. It’s not just this cosmetic change that the F62 brings to the table. It is the choice of processor that will be the decisive argument for the device.
The Samsung Galaxy F62 is powered by the Exynos 9825, which is at the heart of the Note 10 series. There is a choice of 6GB RAM/128GB Storage and 8GB RAM/128GB Storage variants, both with expandable storage (via a dedicated slot in addition to the dual-SIM slot). It’s a solid hardware package and makes the F62 one of the best all-rounders in this price range.

2021 is the year to take chargers out of the box, but not the Galaxy F62 (except the case). The new Galaxy F62 comes with a PD charger, which is a good move by Samsung, but this time you won’t get a case in the box.
Unlike other budget and mid-range phones out there, the Galaxy F62 comes with a plastic back (prone to minor scratches) and laser gradient-like design. On the front we have Gorilla Glass 3 Protection, the side frame is plastic.
Despite coming with a plastic back, the phone looks really good from the back, with a glossy mirror finish. At first glance, you might feel that the camera layout is inspired by the iPhone’s camera design, but taking inspiration has become the industry norm (and that’s not a bad thing).
Samsung Galaxy F62 Starts Receiving First System Update That Improves Camera Features, Performance
This phone packs a large battery, which is 9.5mm thick, so Samsung opted for a plastic back to keep the weight balanced, scoring 218g in our tests. The phone feels heavy for the first time, but over time we got used to it.
The Galaxy F62 comes with a 6.7-inch FHD + sAMOLED Plus HDR 10 Infinity O display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Being an AMOLED panel, we have Always On Display (AOD). The panel produces vibrant and vivid colors as it supports NTSC color gamut up to 110%. Peak brightness is 480 nits (our lux meter test result was 473 lux), which is low compared to brighter rival phones like the Oneplus Nord. But you can see the F62’s screen at maximum brightness outdoors. Viewing angles are excellent and the F62 also comes with Widevine L1 certification. Unfortunately, the screen comes with a 60Hz panel and we still have to wait for screens with higher refresh rates on affordable Samsung phones.
Full-On Speedy Galaxy F62 comes with LPDDR4X RAM paired with UFS 3.0 storage to justify the tagline. These are the read and write speeds we got during our speed test.

Samsung Galaxy F62 Review: Another Knockout Mid Range Galaxy Phone
Samsung is doing everything it can to sell the Galaxy F62 processor, and why shouldn’t they? This could be the first time we get a flagship chipset in a mid-range Samsung phone. Well, as you already know (from Samsung’s marketing images), the Galaxy F62 comes with the Exynos 9825, a 7nm-based chip found in the 2019 flagship Galaxy Note 10. It’s paired with the Mali G76 MP12 GPU.
In our test, we scored 3,49,723 points on AnTuTu, which we weren’t happy with, so after using the phone for some time, we tested it again, this time we got 4,34,680 points (that’s close to a 10 rating). The Galaxy F62 comes with all the necessary sensors.
We ran the AnTuTu stress test for 15 minutes and the CPU dropped to 60-100% at first and then remained stable (70-80%). The battery drop is not great, as it went from 32% to 28% and the temperature went from 30.3 degrees to 33.6 degrees.

Samsung Galaxy F62 First Impressions: The Good, The Bad And The X Factor
Galaxy F62 runs on Android 11 based on OneUI 3.1 which is great. We found the UI to be fast, responsive and feature-rich in our Galaxy F62 review. It also comes with some pre-installed apps, ShareChat, MX TakaTak, Moj, Dailyhunt, PhonePe, Snapchat, Netflix, which can be uninstalled. Plus we have the MyGalaxy app to bomb your notifications.
The Galaxy F62 comes with a single speaker located on the bottom of the phone, which is loud enough to enjoy streaming music (we got around 95 on our decibel meter). But you will miss the dual speaker audio when watching movies or playing games as the single speaker can easily block your gaming sessions. Thankfully, there’s our favorite 3.5mm jack on the bottom. Talking about the game, it can play Call Of Duty Mobile with very high graphics and frame rate up to Max, but you will only get up to 60 fps as that is what the F62 monitors can handle. Speaking of cameras, Galaxy F62 comes with quad camera setup, luckily we don’t have a 2MP camera here. Instead, we have a 64 MP main lens with a Sony IMX682 sensor and f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5 MP macro lens and a 5 MP depth sensor.
