To put that price in a more positive light, you can pick up two Galaxy A70s for the price of just one Galaxy S10 and still have some change left over the weekend at Butlins.
However, Samsung runs into trouble when you start considering the competition from other smartphone makers. The Vivo V15 Pro costs £60 more but has an identical chipset. The Huawei Mate 20 Lite and P30 Lite are also available for around the same price. Similarly, the Google Pixel 3a costs £30 more, although it offers the best average camera on the market.

As for the technical achievements of the Galaxy A70’s FHD+ (2400 x 1080) display, I found it capable of producing 100% of the sRGB color gamut on the phone’s “Natural” display settings, according to our in-house display colorimeter. The average Delta E value of 2.25 is very impressive for such a cheap phone, although I noticed a slight oversaturation of light and dark green tones. Make sure all other colors look their best, especially bright reds and deep, inky blacks.
In further technical testing, I measured the screen’s maximum brightness at 565 cd/m² in auto-brightness mode, which, combined with an ideal infinity:1 contrast ratio, promises readability in all conditions.
