Samsung Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s are said to get the Android 11 based One UI 3.1 update. While the former gets the Core version of One UI 3.1, the latter is said to get the vanilla One UI 3.1. The update is reportedly rolling out in Russia so far and is expected to roll out to other regions in the next few days or weeks. Both the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s were announced in November 2020 but run One 10 based UI.

The Android 11 based One UI 3.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s was first reported by SamMobile. Updates for Samsung smartphones are still ongoing in Russia so far, according to the report. It is expected that the South Korean tech giant will release the update in other regions soon. However, there is no official confirmation from Samsung as to when other regions will receive the update. Both smartphones will get most of the features of Android 11 such as updated UI, lock screen widgets, one-time permissions, chat bubbles, improved security, and more.

While the Galaxy A12 update is said to be bundled with the Android May 2021 security patch, Samsung has updated the Galaxy A02s with the April 2021 Android security patch. The previous firmware version is A125FXXU1BUE3 and the latest is A025FXXU2BUDC. There is no information about the extent of the update. Samsung launched the Galaxy A12 in February 2021. It uses Android 10-based One UI 2.5 Core. It has a 6.5-inch HD+ TFT Infinity-V Display. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone has 128GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card. It features a quad rear camera with a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 5-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8-megapixel sensor. The smartphone has a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging.
The Samsung Galaxy A02s was announced in November 2020 and runs Android 10 out of the box. The smartphone is yet to be launched in India and is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 450 SoC at launch. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card. The smartphone has a triple rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging.

According to the report, Samsung may soon introduce the Galaxy A12 with an Exynos 850 processor instead of the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC that currently powers the smartphone. A support page for the Galaxy A12 with model number SM-A127F/DS – the codename for the Exynos chipset-powered smartphone – has landed in the Philippines. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy A12 with Exynos 850 chipset has also been spotted on the Google Play Console listing.
A report by DealNTech claims that the Samsung Galaxy A12 could be launched soon with an octa-core Exynos 850 8nm processor, coupled with a Mali-G52 GPU. Samsung first launched the smartphone in November 2020 and it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage – expandable up to 1TB via microSD card. The smartphone was then launched in India in February with similar specifications.
The SM-A127F/DS model was also spotted on the Bluetooth SIG list and a previous report by GizPie suggested a European price for the upcoming Galaxy A12 smartphone with the model number SM-A127F. It is expected to be priced at EUR 157.90 (approximately Rs. 14,000).

The SM-A127F/DS support page on Samsung’s website is also live today, suggesting that the smartphone could be launched anytime soon. A support page is available on the Samsung Philippines website.
Tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) also spotted the Samsung Galaxy A12 with Exynos 850 SoC on the Google Play Console listing. The listing suggests that the Galaxy A12 with an Exynos processor could be paired with 3GB of RAM. It can run on Android 11 and has a display with 720×1, 339 pixels resolution. Interestingly, the list also suggests that the smartphone may be called the Samsung Galaxy A12s when it is launched.
Other aspects of the smartphone may remain the same as the original MediaTek Helio P35 SoC-powered variant. The new Samsung Galaxy A12 may have a 6.5-inch HD + TFT display. In terms of optics, the smartphone may have a quad camera on the back with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. For selfies, it may have an 8-megapixel primary sensor.
Connectivity options on the Samsung Galaxy A12 may include LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and more. There may be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and Samsung may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
