Samsung recently launched its entry-level smartphone, the Galaxy A12, in India. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek processor and runs on One UI. The device packs 4GB of RAM and has up to 128GB of internal storage. It comes with a starting price of Rs 12,999. Here is our review of the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy A12 features a unibody design with a plastic body. The handset is available in three color options for buyers to choose from. These include blue, black and white. The back of the phone features a gradient pattern that is separated into two parts. The top is a textured stripe design, but the bottom is a clean surface.

Thanks to the textured back, the phone has a good grip and is less prone to scratches and fingerprints. At the back of the house, behind the four cameras, there is a square camera like the camera in the house. An LED flash is placed below the camera sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy A12 features a 6.5-inch HD+ screen with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. It is an LCD display, not an OLED display. The handset comes with an adaptive brightness feature and can adjust the brightness according to the environment. The phone is easy to use during the day.
There is also a blue light filter to reduce glare. However, the Galaxy A12 does not have a warm or cool display mode.

The Samsung Galaxy A12 runs on the company’s own One UI 2.5. The operating system is based on Android 10. However, we hope that the phone will be updated to the latest version Android 11 in the near future. Samsung’s One UI has a slightly better UI than other custom OS’s. If you are already a Samsung user, you will find the user interface very easy to use. Otherwise, it won’t take a while to get used to.
The handset offers a system-wide dark mode. The Galaxy A12 also supports navigation. You can adjust it when you set up your device or later in your phone’s Settings app. You can make noise on the screen if you want.
As for the chipset, Samsung Galaxy A12 is powered by MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core chipset which is not a bad choice. Being an entry-level phone, we don’t want to compromise the device’s performance. Having said that the phone can handle day-to-day tasks very well. The phone is equipped with 8 Cortex-A53 cores. Four of them are clocked up to 2.35Ghz and the other four are clocked at 1.8Hz. The app launches fast. Switching between apps is easy. No major heating issues with the phone.
For audio output, the handset has rear speakers. The sound level is not that high. You won’t enjoy the same sound.

First things first. The smartphone has 4 rear cameras. The system includes a 48MP primary camera with an ISOCELL GM2 sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth camera. For selfies, the handset sports an 8MP camera on the front.

The image is not noisy and sharp. However, portrait images are good with a reasonable amount of blur.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 has no special lighting modes. However, the camera clicks beautiful pictures in low light conditions. Although the sensor cannot remove noise from the image, there is some detail in the image. Macro photography is surprisingly good, and for the price, it’s worth it.

The fact that the Korean manufacturer has successfully sold the Galaxy A series around the world is one of the reasons why Samsung has launched several affordable smartphones in the German market. Along with the Galaxy A20s, Galaxy A21s, and Galaxy A12, we have three similar Samsung phones from the Galaxy A series in the range of 160-200 euros (~$194-$243) in half a year of testing. Along with the Galaxy M11 and Galaxy M21, two more Galaxy M models join them in an average price range of up to 220 euros (~$267).
However, the difference between many Samsung phones is small. So, in the Samsung Galaxy A12 we just looked at, we find only a few differences compared to other cheaper Galaxy phones from the A and M series.
In our test, the tiny Galaxy A12 uses beautiful images for its primary camera, is well designed, and we also like the beauty of the rear. Super long battery life and excellent settings including One UI and Samsung Knox are also on the side of the Galaxy Smartphone Plus. But the Samsung phone shares these nice features with the Galaxy A21s we’ve already reviewed, and now shares a few things about the Galaxy A12 in direct comparison with its more affordable sibling. I don’t see much progress between the 2021 and 2020 models. Part of the opposition is better because the latter has a faster WLAN and a slightly faster chipset.
