Samsung’s attention to detail comes through in the overall design of the TV, and the inclusion of quantum dots enhances the image. That said, the Q60B won’t help you get the most out of a next-gen gaming console, as it lacks a few key features. Its HDR performance isn’t great either; While it’s nice to have more spots, the TV isn’t bright enough to make HDR content stand out.

For those looking to upgrade to a good, reliable TV that’s bright enough to last the day, the Q60B is an excellent choice. If you play video games above the normal level, or if you really want a TV that shows HDR, you don’t need to use it.
The Samsung Q60B is available in eight sizes ranging from 43 to 85 inches. Our review unit is the 55-inch model we purchased.
Due to the nature of the Q60B’s display hardware, we don’t expect there to be much difference in performance between the sizes.

The Q60B ships with Samsung’s solar cell remote control, which uses indoor/outdoor lighting to charge its internal battery. The remote also has a USB-C charging port for emergency charging, and its battery status can be checked in one of the TV menus.
The Q60B has the usual selection of connectivity options, but gamers and A/V enthusiasts should note the lack of HDMI 2.1 support, as well as the fact that the Q60B has three HDMI ports instead of ‘ was.

All of our tests were done with the Muridio Seven 8K signal generator and recorded by Portrait Display’s Calman Ultimate Color Calibration software. This is the standard ANSI checkerboard method for differential testing.
To understand typical TV performance, we use the standard ANSI board testing method for most of our contrast tests. We also used white and black windows from 2% to 90% to test how consistent the contrast is when producing different degrees of brightness.
Our high brightness measurements are taken with fixed windows to show the TV’s maximum brightness for a long time. Special highlights (such as brief flashes of illuminated light) can reach high levels, but not for long.

These figures were taken with the Q60B’s picture clarity settings turned off and smart mode off. Additionally, Contrast Enhancer and Film Mode were disabled and Color Tone was set to Warm2.
In SDR, the Q60B’s brightness level was left at 33 and the TV’s gamma was set to 2.2.

The Q60B is bright enough in SDR for everyday viewing. If you watch a lot of TV in a sunny room, it will work well for you.
While the Q60B isn’t as bright as high-end Samsung QLEDs like the QN90B, it packs enough punch for daytime viewing. Unless your living room is drenched in sunlight, the Q60B should serve you well.
Most of the TV shows and movies we watch—broadcast/cable programming, broadcast content, and most Blu-rays—are optimized for Standard Dynamic Range (SDR). When the Q60B receives an SDR signal, it can achieve a brightness of about 400 to 500, which is above the average TV in this class.
The Q60B’s color-enhancing dots also contribute to the TV’s effectiveness in sunny rooms. Often found in high-end LED TVs, these tiny nanocrystals can improve color fidelity and brightness. Although they don’t have as much of an impact on performance here as they did with Samsung’s high-end LED and OLED TVs this year, their benefits are appreciated. The Q60B covers almost 100% of the SDR color gamut (Rec.709), and most content looks perfectly saturated.

The Q60B’s black levels are consistently deep, and while the TV lacks local brightness, it manages to reduce glare when bright elements collide with a dark background.
The Q60B looks best in dimly lit or dark rooms, as it can combine its decent brightness with deep black levels. Given the lack of high-end TV technology, its similarities and overall differences are striking.
In darker areas, you’ll see some small clouds in the lower corners of the Q60B (as I did). In addition, the TV is able to maintain decent black levels in many images, while the bright parts of the images compete with the dark backdrops. In both SDR and HDR, the Q60B’s black levels stay within the 0.02-0.06 nits range, and for the most part, stay within that range. This helps to maintain deep feelings.
No matter what kind of content you’re looking at, the Q60B maintains a lot of detail during dark scenes and the bright parts of the image are able to maintain good brightness without changing the surrounding areas. If you plan to watch a lot of film in a dark room to try to capture some of the magic of the theater, the Q60B will help you get there.

Samsung does an excellent job designing its entry-level and mid-range TVs, and the Q60B is no exception; It has a certain elegance that many TVs of the same price do not have. The panel is narrow (and similarly), with a slim, L-shaped design that doesn’t draw attention to itself. If you prefer to reduce the mess, an optional cable management system can be used on the back of the leg.
Setting up the Q60B is also easy. The TV legs fit directly into the panel and stay firmly in place – no screws required. The panel does tend to wobble once it’s in place, but at no point during testing did I feel like the TV was in danger of collapsing.
Unfortunately, our Q60B arrived with its bezel peeling away from the bottom-left corner of the display. After extensive testing, I can conclude that this damage did not affect the performance of our Q60B, since the small bleeding is not limited to this corner. This may be the result of a shipping error, but it serves as a reminder to regularly check your new TV after you’ve stopped using it. If I had bought this TV for my home and it arrived in this condition, I would replace it.
While the Q60B is a good player for casual viewing, it doesn’t come close to showing off the benefits of high dynamic range (HDR), a content delivery system designed to take advantage of bright displays. colorful ones.
