Update S21 Price Dollar Review

The Samsung Galaxy series is one of the best-selling flagship phone series, thanks to its excellent performance and modern design. For the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung has gone all out, dropping the price of the entry-level model and making the top-of-the-range “Ultra” model better than ever.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Fe Review: Not The Cheap Phone We Hoped For

The Galaxy S21 was first released in January and was the best Android phone at the time. But since then, a ton of competition has emerged, including the OnePlus 9 series and the Pixel 5. Not to mention that devices like the Galaxy S20 FE cost hundreds of dollars less.

After almost six months from the premiere, is it worth buying the Samsung Galaxy S21, even for a relatively low price? Or has it already been beaten by the competition? I recently got a call back to find out.

As mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S21 represents a slight change in Samsung’s design. All the changes made in the new phone make the phone look more premium and modern.

The rectangular camera module in the upper left corner of the back of the phone has disappeared. Instead, you get a camera module that blends into the frame of the phone, helping to bring the overall look together. I love this concept. It’s a change from other phones, but not entirely different, and it looks great. We’re looking at the standard Galaxy S21 which has a triple camera. The more expensive Galaxy S21 Ultra offers an additional camera, and a larger camera module.

The Galaxy S21 also comes in a variety of colors and looks stunning. My personal favorite is the Phantom Violet model with golden reflections. This is the model we are looking at. The device is also available in Phantom Grey, Phantom White and Phantom Pink.

Samsung has taken some criticism for using the so-called “glasstic” in the Galaxy S21, but honestly, it looks and feels pretty good. It is soft to the touch and at first glance may seem like frosted glass. Sure, it doesn’t look and feel as good as real glass, but you get used to it. Not to mention that the use of plastic helps to make the phone a bit more durable.

There’s a nice glossy bezel around the edges of the device that houses the volume rocker and power button, as well as the USB-C port at the bottom. There is no headphone jack, but such are the times.

On the front of the phone, you’ll find a 6.2-inch edge-to-edge display that’s only interrupted by a cutout for the front-facing camera at the top center of the display. It’s the great look and use of a phone like this that makes me excited about Apple’s notch reduction in the iPhone series.

The display quality is also very good. On the Galaxy S21, you get an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120Hz. This high refresh rate helps create a super responsive experience and very smooth animations. Honestly, I think a high refresh rate is much more important than high resolution, within reason. You will notice a difference between the 1080p resolution on this phone and the 1440p resolution on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but in everyday use it won’t matter much. The display easily becomes bright enough for most users, even in direct sunlight.

Overall, the Galaxy S21 looks and feels great and has a great display. Of course, “glazing” is not the most premium material, but it is more than good.

The Galaxy S series is always one of the most powerful and the Galaxy S21 is no exception to this rule. The Samsung Galaxy S21 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage meaning it can easily handle everyday tasks, mobile gaming and more.

The Snapdragon 888 is Qualcomm’s latest chip, and while it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the Apple A14 Bionic chip, it’s incredibly high-end. As a rule, Samsung is one of the first to offer a phone with the latest Qualcomm chipsets, and the Galaxy S21 series is no exception to this rule.

The Galaxy S21 can load games quickly, multitask with ease, and more. Overall, it feels very responsive thanks to the combination of a high-end chipset and a high refresh rate display. The Galaxy S21 comes with 8GB of RAM, which seems more than enough even for heavy multitasking.

The phone also performed well in tests. The device scored 1087 points in the GeekBench 5 single-core test and 3286 points in the multi-core test, beating all recent generation Android phones. It has yet to reach the heights of the OnePlus 9 series and nowhere near the iPhone 12 series, but it still performed very well and should continue to perform well for at least a few more years.

There’s a 4,000mAh battery under the hood of the Galaxy S21, and while things like the new chipset and high refresh rate of the display can be assumed to be responsible for the short battery life, the phone will easily get you through the day and into the next. Battery life doesn’t change the game. If you play a lot and watch movies, you may still need to pay at some point. But with normal use, the battery lasts a long time, and if you charge it overnight you won’t run into any issues.

The phone also supports fast charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging so you can charge your Qi-enabled wireless headphones and watches. It doesn’t support Samsung’s 45W fast charging technology, but the 25W fast charging offered here is still very fast.

Is The Galaxy S21 Ultra Still Worth It? Or Should You Wait For The S22 Ultra?

The Galaxy series has always been one of the best cameras available, and the Galaxy S21 continues that trend. While the device’s camera isn’t as high-end or premium as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it still has a lot to offer.

On the Galaxy S21, you get a 12-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It’s a nice setup, and a bit more versatile than many other phones in this price range, which can only have two out of three camera types.

Of course, it’s not much more versatile. The 64-megapixel telephoto lens technically only offers a 1.1x optical zoom, but by being primarily a higher-resolution camera, Samsung refers to it as a “3x hybrid zoom.” Ultimately, it’s not as impressive as the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 10x optical zoom, but it still looks pretty good.

The Galaxy S21 is capable of producing detailed, clear photos with vivid colors. In a well-lit environment, the images look just wonderful. They are not as contrasting as those from the Pixel series, but that’s neither good nor bad. It’s just the difference. I like it better.

Excellent image quality is maintained even in low light conditions. Samsung has really worked hard to improve its dark mode and it shows. Photos taken in low light do not contain too much noise, so they look more natural and simply better than photos of the competition. And the enlarged images look pretty good too. You won’t get much detail at 10x, but 3x still gives you good detail.

The Galaxy S21 also offers some useful camera features. The camera can record 8K or 4K video at up to 60 frames per second, and the director view allows you to switch between cameras while recording video. It’s a nice touch, although you probably won’t use it as often.

Overall, the Galaxy S21 offers one of the best cameras in a phone in this price range. The zoom capabilities make the phone a bit more versatile than some others in its price range, such as the iPhone 12, and the phone takes great photos in almost any situation.

If you’re looking for stock Android, the Galaxy S21 isn’t for you. The device comes with One UI which is currently up to version 3.1. It’s very polished, but that’s what Samsung users want.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Vs Note 20 Ultra: Which Flagship Should You Buy?

I’m not against One UI at this point. Samsung has done a much better job of keeping it relatively clean than in previous iterations of its operating system, and while it can feel cluttered at times, that’s not a bad thing.

However, there are some unnecessary aspects of the software. There are some viruses but not as many as other Samsung phones. Fortunately, most of them can be removed. However, those who are connected to the Google ecosystem may want to install versions of Google apps – for example, the Android Messages app instead of Samsung’s built-in messaging app.
