Banner, but the first to be offered to retailers in bulk, rather than just an exclusive. The figure stands 3 3/4 inches tall and has 5 points of articulation. His design is based on his first episode appearance, which is weirdly odd on the one hand, but pretty fitting on the other hand, as any vintage figures would be based on the early appearance in promo images and the like. I’m guessing it’s a whole new image, modeled after Boba Fett a bit, mostly because they both have that signature helmet. Through the lens of vintage connoisseurs, this is a fine sculpture. It fits the general style, but definitely has that slightly higher level of detail that came with 1980 and later figures. The articulation has a clear range of motion, and the hands are clearly designed to hold the guns, so he’s very well utilized in that way. . So, technically, it is inaccurate. Of course, the vinyl reads as more obviously retro, I suppose, which has its own advantages. Mando’s paint job is actually surprisingly involved, which again I think makes it *technically* inaccurate, but it looks good, and it still has the right feel, so I can’t really complain too much. The Mando is packed with his long gun and his blaster pistol, both of which he can hold quite nicely.
, because they are kind of my main problem for the toys. I was hoping we might get something later. It’s not exactly what I had in mind, but I can’t say I’m unhappy about it. Hasbro has done a really good job of capturing the retro feel here, and they’ve made a figure that’s just good clean fun and is generally more functional than its more detailed counterparts. I’m looking forward to getting the inevitable Bescar re-deco, and whatever else Hasbro wants to throw at us with this mold.

This is presumably due to the increasing use of Google Punch. To our Japanese readers, Arigato. With international readers in mind, today we bring you our review of The Mandalorian Retro Collection.
First, let me say that for the most part I am not a fan of the retro collection. With the exception of Darth Vader, I wasn’t moved by the initial Episode IV offerings, even though they were the first Star Wars figures I got my hands on. I was still too young to appreciate the cards. I don’t remember throwing over the backs of the 12 and 20/21 back figures over the figures I didn’t already own. I’m interested in some of the Empire Strikes Back retro wave, especially Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett. Lando was the first Empire figure I got as a kid, and Boba Fett is Boba Fett. If/when the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker is released in 2023, I’ll buy one I see, but that’s about it unless Hasbro does something like a retro yak phase. As for making purposeful dubbed versions of characters from a modern source, I can’t stress how much I don’t get the appeal. Retro figures that don’t have vintage counterparts make about as much sense to me as retro televisions. Fortunately for Hasbro, my opinion doesn’t matter. These figures are flying off the shelves at an impressive rate. There are many collectors and casual buyers who enjoy it.
As for the Mandalorian figure, it stands up well, which is always appreciated, especially since the lack of articulation would have exacerbated any balance issues. Regarding “retro”, I thought the figure was almost too good. I can’t imagine a vintage gourmand figure with so many paint masks and paint applications. The first time I saw this Retro Collection Mandalorian it was hanging from the pegs of Gamestop. I initially caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye and for a split second I thought it was the VC166 – the Mandalorian figure. I also feel there might be a tick too much detail in the scalp. As an example, I don’t think Kenner would have sculpted the detail in the back of the helmet. This figure is almost like something between the end of the vintage Kenner line and his return in 1995 with the Power of the Force “2” line. Maybe that’s the point, and Hasbro is working to fix the serious deviation from the universe’s intended timeline. In the correct timeline where Lucas continues to make Star Wars live action entertainment after Return of the Jedi, this is perhaps what the figures would have looked like.
