Update Redmi Note Review – The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is likely to be the one to come from the Note 11 series in 2022.

With a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G review unit. As usual, they made no sense in our opinion, nor had they seen an advance copy of the review before you. The review unit was used for about 7 days before this review was written. The phone runs MIUI 13 on top of Android 11 with the February 2022 security patch.

The global version of Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is now available. Last year did a review of the amazing Redmi Note 10 Pro. At the time, we thought it was probably one of the best smartphones available around $300. This year, Xiaomi sent us several different versions of the Redmi Note 11 series. I decided to do a full review of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G because it is the direct successor to one of the best mid-range phones from 2021.

Redmi Note 10 Pro (india) Long Term Review

As usual, there are several versions of this device. Of course, as usual, Xiaomi sent us the Black Graphite Gray 8GB RAM/128GB storage, which is the most outstanding version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G series. One of these days we’ll see the Polar White or Atlantic Blue version for review purposes.

The retail box for the review unit has the smartphone, a clear TPU case (slightly sturdier than previous cases), a film screen protector (not attached), a USB-C cable and a white 67W fast charger. Besides the chip, you will find some paperwork and also a SIM tool.

While last year’s model was all about curves, the new Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has a much more ‘square’ design. If you think that this look is similar to the current iPhone series, you are absolutely right. But while the frame rails are vertical like the iPhone, there is an ever-so-slight curve where the screen and back glass merge with the frame. And the end result is a phone that is more ergonomic to hold than the new iPhone. As a side note, I currently have an iPhone 13 mini and an iPhone 12.

The other major change is the layout of the camera module. I like the new muted black look compared to the chrome ring around the main camera on the previous version. Rounding off the changes is the placement of the SIM tray, which is now next to the USB-C charging port, so the left rail looks clean. And of course, the back panel with a matte “graphite” finish is highly resistant to fingerprint smudges.

On the front, you have a punch-hole selfie camera in the middle and Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the AMOLED screen. On the top rail you get a headphone jack, speaker grill, microphone and IR blaster. The fingerprint scanner is built into the power button just below the volume rocker on the right side rail.

In conclusion, I like the new look of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. Xiaomi made all the right iterative choices and the end result is a very nice smartphone.

The 2022 Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G carries the 120Hz Full HD+ display from last year. So even though it’s a carryover, it’s still a great display. During the review period, I had no problems using it outside on bright sunny days here in Southern California.

With a slightly thinner frame, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has a screen-to-body ratio of 86% while maintaining a pixel density of 395 ppi. You will be quite satisfied with the display of this smartphone. For people who really like to customize their display settings, MIUI 13 continues to have an extensive list of options to customize the display output to your taste and timing.

Redmi Note 11 Pro Review: A Big Screen Budget Phone Worth Getting

For this iteration of the Note 11 series, Xiaomi has opted for a Snapdragon 695 processor. The only spec that the crowd will tell is that it’s a downgrade since last year’s model had a Snapdragon 732G. So from a nomenclature point of view it looks like a downgrade, but in reality the Snapdragon 695 is a much more capable processor than the low-end Snapdragon 7 series from 2020/2021.

Manufactured in the 6nm manufacturing process, this processor has 2 primary Kryo 660 Gold cores running at 2.2 GHz. In addition, there are six 1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver processors. The graphics processor also gets an upgrade to the Adreno 619.

The Geekbench 5 results are significantly better than the previous version and there is 5G connectivity. The 6nm versus 8nm architecture should help achieve good battery life despite getting a more power-hungry modem. When it comes to gaming, you should be able to play most games on medium to high settings with the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

It’s 2022 and still no Android 12 on the latest Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. This is a problem that I hope Xiaomi fixes quickly because for years they have had better support than most other Android device manufacturers out there. Right now, Samsung pretty much eats everyone else’s lunch when it comes to software updates and support for Android devices.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro Review: Software, Performance

My review device is running MIUI Global 13.0.3 and February 2022 security patch. In my day-to-day use, I don’t find MIUI 13 too different from MIUI 12.5 on Poco devices from the second half of 2021. However, there are some minor annoyances that can be easily fixed. Out of the box, the default notifications and quick settings mimic iOS, but you can change it in the Settings > Notification & Control Center > Control Center Style menu to resemble the stock Android version.

On the plus side, most default apps are the same as on the Google Pixel, including Phone, Messages, Chrome, Contacts, and Google Discover. As usual, there are a lot of Xiaomi apps stored in the tools folder and they are quite useful, so I suggest you hide the folder if you don’t like them on the main screen. Bloatware is limited to 7 apps and you can uninstall any of them. I actually use 4 of the 7 apps regularly so it didn’t bother me that much.

Usually, budget devices from Xiaomi tend to display ads – I guess that helps keep the prices low. Follow the steps described here during setup and right after you get to the main screen, and you’ll encounter fewer ads during daily use.

During setup, disable “Personal Recommendations” when prompted. After setting up your phone and getting to the home screen, you’ll need to manually access apps, themes, file management, security, and cleanup. Once inside each app, go to settings and disable recommendations/ads. And as a final step, open Settings, search for ads, tap Ads, then tap Ads (second option from the bottom of the menu) and make sure “Opt out of ad personalization” is turned off.

That is it. Now you can use it like any other Android smartphone and benefit from MIUI’s extensive customization options.

The battery on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G lasts all day, and 67W fast charging will fill it up very quickly

Despite a large 5,000mAh battery and a more power-efficient Snapdragon processor, overall battery life is slightly worse this year, mainly due to the 5G modem. Changing connection to 4G and maybe entering screen refresh rate may help. But even with a high refresh rate and 5G connection, you can get through a whole day without too many problems. Screen on time is easily 6+ hours on this device and your mileage may vary.

Xiaomi doubled the charging power this year and includes a 67W fast charging white box. A quick 15 minute charge will get you to 51% charge from zero, which should be good for light to moderate day use.

Redmi Note 9 Review

The audio output on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is almost a flagship. Good spatial distribution – check, dedicated speaker networks – check, sharp output to set around 40% volume – check. Aside from the hardware design, this is the best feature of this device.

And unlike some of Xiaomi’s budget devices, this device doesn’t suffer from the need to turn up the volume with connected wired headphones. The sound quality through the headphone jack can easily go toe-to-toe with the offerings from Samsung or Google. I used Audio Technica and AKG wired headphones and left the audio settings at factory settings during my testing period.

The Bluetooth sound quality is on par with the 3.5 mm jack output. If you like to turn up the volume while playing games or listening to music, you will definitely enjoy the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

This review section will be short because for the most part all cameras are recurring. There are a few changes and both are small downgrades. The macro camera is now a 2MP camera instead of the 5MP camera found on the Redmi Note 10 Pro. The 2 MP depth sensor is no more

The main camera at the top of the module is a 108 MP camera with a 1/1.52 inch sensor.
